Born April 27, 1840

Died August 2, 1898 in Garvin County, Oklahoma

Buried at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood,
Oklahoma and does not currently have a
military headstone

Marcus was captured at Gettysburg in 1863, confined at Fort Delaware and later transferred to Lookout Point, Maryland Camp. While in prison he carved tiny cups and saucers from peach seeds, there is a pair now in a museum. He was transferred on February 18, 1865 to Boulvare's and Cox Wharves, where he was freed in a prisoner exchange.

Marcus Turbyfill married Mary Emma on March 6, 1872 in Lincoln County, North Carolina, according to Mary's pension application

He came to Indian Territory in 1884
