He wouldn't go to any church but, what he called his church and he was always late for services  he would arrive about time for the preacher to start reading his text and Taylor would come in with his wife, there in the church houses that day in time they had long benches for the seats and across the church house there was only three rowes of benches.  One on each outside of the building and one right down through the center of the house.  the Taylors would arrive for church services he would be in the lead. they enter the building and walk right to the front of the house  he would cross over to the other isle between the first and second rows of benches and then walk around in front of the preacher to the outside and then sit down coming back to where he just left then sit down on the second row of benches.

There was a man that run a gambling house in Woodville by the name Bob Gant and he would sleep up over his place of business and there was always a gang of boys there was haging around town until the dead hours of night and more especially there was one boy that always picking his bango and singing vulgar songs.  one moon light night he was there until after midnight playing his bango and sining this fellow cant get tired of all the playing and singing that he wanted.  he waited until this boy started home and to get home the boy had to cross a vacant lot that had lots of broom weeds on it. but there was a trail down through the lot, Gant seen that he was getting ready to go so he ge got him a bed sheet tucked it under his arm and makes a brake for the broom weeds patch, just as this boy got even with him Gant  stood up with this bed sheet over him and hollwed  at the boy. the boy look around and saw him standing there with that sheet over himhe reached up and got his hat off his head and really took off.  When he first saw him, the boy said god damn, god damn and went on home, after that night the boy was always at home long before bed time.  it like to scared the life out of the boy but, this boy could really pay the bango and did play it in a string band.

There was family that lived in Woodville, that had 6 boys in their teen age that was as mean as could be what these boys wouldn't do couldnt be thought of, they were mean for several years and all one year, when Xmas time come around, their parents, after the boys had hung up their stockings for old Santa to come, their parents just gave them a corn cob with a note on a piece of paper that they had been to mean boys for him to give them anything that Xmas.  from than on the boys certainly changed boys.  they were as good as they were mean before that time.

There was a mon that lived in Woodville, he was about 50 years old and an old bachalor, one sunday night a crowd of boy including him was attending  church after church we started home and when we went out and got on our horses we noticed a fire off in the country about 3 miles.  we all started to the fire and this bachalor was riding the fastest horse he ran on off and left us to follow him,  when he arrived at the place the roof of the house was about to fall in.  the doors were all locked from the inside, a widow woman lived there with four children,  two boys and two girls.  she one of the girls and one boy was in the house asleep. this man knocked on the door but, no one would come to the door.  he went to the wood pile and got a chopping axe and knocked the door off the hinges and went on in.  he couldnt revive any of them so he just picked them up in his arms and carried them out side and when the fresh air hit them they all came too,  all they saved was the night clothes that they had on, lost every thing else.  Another family all took down with amengitis and they were helpless, this man came to their aid and helped them to recovery.  As time went on he was  took down with pneumonia, he was staying with his sister
