WHITMIRE
Funeral services for Bill WHITMIRE, 70 were held Sunday, December 30, in
the New Hope church with the Rev. Bud LACIE, officiating.
WHITMIRE died Thursday, December 27, in the Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs,
Ark., following a stroke.
Born in Proctor, September 2, 1892, he lived in the Clearfork and Chance
area his entire 70 years. He served in World War 1, with overseas duties.
Pallbearers were Jess MORRIS, Bruce MORRIS, Frank MORRIS, Sam GALYEAN, Gwen
MULLIN and Ralph GUTHRIE. Flower Bearers were Hazel PHIPPS, Opal GALYEAN,
Zaida PHARR, Phoebe SNYDER, and Carie THORNTON.
Survivors include his wife, Stella, of the home; one brother, Jack WHITMIRE,
Proctor; four step-children, Mae HAMILTON, Clearfork, Ray MARSHALL of Tulsa,
Ruby HAMILTON, Westwood, Calif., Otis GRAVES, Sunnyvale, Calif.; nine
grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.
COON
Mrs. Wanda COON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aron PARRIS of Watts was killed
in a car accident, December 30 at Oakland, California. Her small daughter,
Cindy, was injured seriously. No details of the accident were learned.
Mr. and Mrs. PARRIS left immediately for California to attend the funeral.
Mrs. COON is survived by her husband, Italy COON and daughter, Cindy and
a number of relatives in this area.
DOWNING
Funeral service for Betty Jean DOWNING, 19, was held Friday, December 28
at 2 p.m. in the Baron Community Church. The music was furnished by the
Fourkiller Quartet.
Miss DOWNING died in a Tahlequah hospital, of injuries received in a car
accident last Monday.
Pallbearers were: Richard SCRAPER, Everett BEAN, Jr., Jeff CHEEK, James
FISHINGHAWK, Bill BUTLER, Phillip CLINTON. Flower bearers were Charlene BUTLER,
Leora WHITECROW, Bertha ALSENAY, Cindy BUFFINGTON, Carol Ann TERRAPIN, and
Judy MORRIS.
Survivors include her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clem DOWNING; a sister, Chirley,
two brothers, Leon and Alex, and her grandmothers, Mrs. Mamie BELL and Mrs.
Susie DOWNING.
Interment was in the Downing Cemetery, Baron, with the Roberts Funeral Home
in charge.
ELLIS
Funeral rites for Mrs. R.Y. (Alta) ELLIS, 79, recently of Baron will be held
today, Friday, at 2 p.m. in Roberts Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. ELLIS, who following the death of Mr. ELLIS, November 6, 1962, accompanied
her daughter, Mrs. Gertrude SLOAN, home in Loveland, Colorado, with whom
she was to make her home. After a brief illness, she died December 30.
Mr. and Mrs. ELLIS were pioneer residents of the Westville and Baron communities,
Mrs. ELLIS until her failing health, several months ago did not permit, was
correspondent for the Westville Record and since for the Westville
Reporter.
Interment will be in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of
roberts Funeral Home.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Eula WRIGHT of Tulsa, Mrs. Gertrude
SLOAN, Loveland, Colorado, Mrs. Neva COLEBURN, of Labrador; four sons, Robert
ELLIS of Stilwell, Reece ELLIS, Stockton, Calif., Bill ELLIS, Albuquerque,
N. Mex., Joe ELLIS, with U.S. Navy stationed in Norfolk and 14 grandchildren.
PACK
Funeral service for William Monroe PACK, 79, was conducted in the Proctor
Community Church, Monday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Bud LACIE officiating.
Mr. PACK, former resident of Proctor, died in a Sapulpa Nursing Home, Saturday.
Born in Arkansas, he was a retired railroader.
Pallbearers were: Virgil KINDLE, Vance DOSS, Claude KINDLE, Watt PROCTOR,
Charley CORN, and Harold SKAGGS.
Survivors include his widow, Nancy Jane, Sapulpa; 3 daughters, Mrs. Jewel
HAMILTON, of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Katherine HENDRIX, Oklahoma City, Mrs.
Mattie DOSS, Tulsa; two sons, Eugene of Tulsa, and Johnny, Philadelphia,
Pa.; two step-children, Mrs. Vera NAPIER, of Sapulpa, and Richard PUMPKIN,
Seattle, Wash.
Burial was in the Proctor Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.

CHAPMAN
Funeral service for Grover Dennis CHAPMAN, 47, was held Wednesday at 2 p.m.,
in the Roberts Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Earl ODLE, assisted by Rev. Carl
HART, officiating.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy CHAPMAN, Route 1, Westville, he spent his younger
years in and around Westville, but lived most of his adult life in Kansas
City, Mo., where he was employed as a union brick layer. Interment was in
the Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were the six surviving brothers: Clyde, Tulsa; Dean, Roy Jr.,
Eugene and Herbert, all of Kansas City, Josh with the U.S. Air Force stationed
at Altus. Flower bearers were Mrs. Clyde CHAPMAN, Mrs. Dean CHAPMAN, Mrs.
Roy CHAPMAN, Mrs. Herbert CHAPMAN, Mrs. Josh CHAPMAN and Mrs. Eugene CHAPMAN,
all wives of the brothers.
Other than six brothers, he is survived by his parents, and two sisters,
Mrs. Fred SISK of Twin Oaks and Mrs. J.B. WILLIAMS, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
TITTLE
Funeral service for M.R. TITTLE Jr., 64, pioneer citizen, retired pharmacist
and cattleman of Westville was held Sunday afternoon at 2 in Roberts Funeral
Chapel with the Rev. Clayton WALTERS, pastor of the Methodist Church,
officiating.
Mrs. Richard HENDRIX, Mrs. Charles BROOKS, Charles WILLIAMS and Fred ALLISON,
accompanied by Mrs. Robert EFFENBERGER, sang "When They Ring Those Golden
Bells" and "Rock of Ages."
Mr. TITTLE died suddenly at his home, Thursday, January 3 from a heart
attack.
He was born November 14, 1898 at Prairie Grove, Ark., the son of M.H. and
Jennie BELEU TITTLE, when four years of age, he moved with his parents to
Westville in 1900. (i.e.) Finishing his education in Westville, he attended
Business College at Springfield, Mo., later graduating from the U. of A.
School of Pharmacy in Little Rock, Ark., where he was owner of a drug store.
In 1921 he and Miss Eleanor DING of Little Rock were married. In 1941, Mr.
and Mrs. TITTLE returned to Westville, and moved on their farm 1 1/2 miles
northwest of Westville, he having retired as pharmacist, went into
the cattle business, soon owning one of the largest herds of cattle in the
area. He was a member of the Methodist church and was a World War 1 veteran
and member of the Harley-Barnard American Legion Post in Westville.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.
Active pallbearers: Troy GIBBONS, Leslie ALDERSON, Grover HOWARD, L.H. JONES,
George MURRAY and Doyle MURRAY. Honorary pallbearers were: Sam WILLIS, Tim
FREEMAN, John HUNSAKER, L.H. SEARS, Earl WHELCHEL, C.C. SHACKLEFORD, Will
COSBY, Jack LOCKHART and M.B. TRAW. Flower bearers: Mrs. John HUNSAKER, Mrs.
Tim FREEMAN, Mrs. Troy GIBBONS, Mrs. L.H. SEARS, Mrs. George MURRAY, Mrs.
Will COSBY.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Lena CABE,
Westville, Mrs. Nelle HALL, Houston, Texas; two nieces Mrs. Duke CARLTON
of Westville, Mrs. Virginia LONGMOOR, San Antonio, Texas; one nephew, Earl
Homer GRAVES, Muskogee; five great nieces, two great nephews.

BASHAM
Funeral services for Joe BASHAM, 44, were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at
the Palo Pinto, Texas, Baptist church, with the Rev. Robert CAYWOOD
officiating.
Mr. BASHAM, born in the Pumpkin Hollow community, near Tahlequah, May 2,
1918, and the brother of Mrs. Frank NEELEY of this city, died suddenly of
a heart attack, Saturday, January 5, in the mountainous region near Albuquerque,
New Mexico. He was a guide, employed by the U.S. Government Wild Life and
Game Service.
He is survived by three children, Mrs. Tommy WRIGHT, Alice, Texas, Mrs. Gerald
SMITH, Abilene, Texas, and a son, John Paul, Abilene, Texas; a step-mother,
two brothers, and four sisters.
Burial was in the family plot in the Palo Pinto Cemetery.
MUSTEEN
Nannie W. MUSTEEN, 72, died in her home in Springdale, Ark., Tuesday, January
8.
Born in Westville, Indian Territory, April 11, 1890, she was the daughter
of John M. and Josie GILSTRAP WILKIE. She was reared on what is now known
as the Frank Grooms farm.
On September 14, 1908 she was married to Albert K. MUSTEEN. To this
union was born four sons, Mack, George, Edward and Jimmie; two daughters,
Mamie and Mabel; Edward and Mabel preceding her in death.
Spending most of her married life in Springdale, Ark., she was the last survivor
of the John M. WILKIE family. Other members of the family were John W., George,
Cherokee, Maggie, Laura and Lola.
Survivors other than members of the immediate family are 13 grandchildren
and 16 great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Bluff Cemetery in Springdale, Ark.
HARPER
Jewel HARPER, Adair County Court Clerk, died suddenly at his home in Stilwell
January 9, following a heart attack. He was beginning his third term as Court
Clerk, having been sworn in Monday, January 6.
Funeral service was Friday afternoon in the First Baptist church in
Stilwell.
Survivors are his wife and son, Bill HARPER, Adair County Representative.

CARRINGTON
Funeral rites for L.A. (Babe) CARRINGTON, 73, well known retired cattleman
of Tahlequah and former resident of Westville were held Wednesday afternoon
at 2 o'clock in Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel at Tahlequah, with the Rev. WATKINS,
pastor of the Steeley Springs Baptist church officiating. Interment was in
the Tahlequah Cemetery.
Mr. CARRINGTON was born May 5, 1889 at Cane Hill, Ark., the son of Alfred
and Maggie CARRINGTON and died Sunday, January 20 in a Muskogee hospital.
He moved to Westville in 1916 and with his brother, the late Carl CARRINGTON
owned and operted the Livery Stable. Upon return from service in World War
1, in 1920 he moved to Tahlequah. The first bus line between Tahlequah and
Muskogee was established by CARRINGTON, and later he went into the cattle
business.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American
Legion. Several years ago he gave a plot of ground on his "Steeley Springs"
Ranch near Tahlequah and built a church which the members named the Steeley
Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Nancy of the home, a daughter, Mrs. Phil NOWLIN,
Sallisaw, a step-daughter, Mrs. Fern FARRELL, of Tahlequah; a sister, Mrs.
Dan MAPLES, Muskogee; a brother, Thad CARRINGTON, Lincoln, Ark., and three
grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Luther WILLIAMS and Charles, Mrs. C.F. CARRINGTON and Leslie
CARRINGTON of Westville attended the funeral service.
GREGORY
Funeral service for Dennis M. GREGORY, 40, of Tulsa, former resident of Watts,
will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with
burial in Watts Cemetery.
Mr. GREGORY died suddenly, Monday, January 21, in Tulsa. He was an aircraft
machinist at Douglas Aircraft and a veteran of World War 11.
Survivors include: his wife, Barbara, two sons, Rex and Dennis Jr.; two
daughters, Katherine and Jennie of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H.
GREGORY of Watts; two sisters, Mrs. Jewel MAGGARD, of Tulsa, Mrs. Christine
ADAMS, Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother Ray GREGORY of Watts.
WRIGHT
A former Adair County resident, Thomas J. WRIGHT, died in a Lancaster, Calif.,
hospital, Monday, as the result of injuries received in an auto accident,
Saturday night.
Mr. WRIGHT was born near Westville January 23, 1921, and lived here until
his marriage to Adalah Mae SLOAN, when they moved to California to make their
home.
Survivors include his widow and four childrn of the home; his father, A.D.
"Doc" WRIGHT, Westville; five brothers, Joe and Bob of Westville, J.B. of
Tulsa, George of Arizona and Gene, of NEW YORK.
Funeral service was conducted Friday with burial in Joshua Memorial Park,
Lancaster, California.
SMALL
Funeral service for Mrs. Pearl Mae SMALL, 68, was held Monday, 2 p.m. in
Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Arthur ESSARY officiating.
Mrs. SMALL was born December 8, 1894, in Westville, and died January 17 in
Stilwell hospital. Interment was in Spade Mountain Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, John SMALL of the home; her children, Opal
MEDORS of Maupville, Calif., L.D. BRANNON, Areata, Calif., Oleta HENSLEY
and Dewey BUTLER, Stilwell, Carl BUTLER, Phoenix, Arizona, and Kenneth BUTLER,
Cane Hill, Ark.; four sisters, including Mrs. Bertha NEALE, Westville and
Mrs. Mary CARTER, Stilwell; brothers, Bill WHITE and John WHITE of Westville;
25 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
DEES
Funeral service for Mrs. Zona DEES, 79, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the
Wedington Baptist church, with the Rev. Lonnie BROWN officiating.
Burial was in the Wedington Cemetery. Mrs. DEES, a lifetime resident of
Wedington, died in a Bentonville nursing home Wednesday. She was a member
of the Baptist Church. He late husband, who died in 1953, and she operated
a Wedington store for a number of years.
Survivors include two sons, Hayden DEES, Scappoose, Oregon, and Deward DEES,
Globle, Oregon, a former Westville resident; 3 sisters, Mrs. Dallas ASHWORTH,
Pine Hill, Ala., Mrs. Retta DRAKE, Coeur D' Alene, Idaho, and Mrs. Bessie
FOREMAN, Tahlequah.

PARSONS
Funeral service for C.E. "Pop" PARSONS, 85, was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in
Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Arthur ESSARY officiating. Mr. PARSONS
who died in the Stilwell hospital Sunday was born September 10, 1877 in
Illinois.
He was married to Miss Naomi MCCLURE of Cleburn, Texas, May 5, 1929. They
moved to Westville from Dallas, Texas, in 1936 and purchased a farm in the
Union Hill community, later purchasing a Recreation Parlor in Westville which
he was operating at the time of his death.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.
Pall bearers were: Dennis MORRIS, Johnny COX, Milton STALCUP, Thomas BRIGHT,
Spencer MORRIS. Flower bearers were: Mrs. D.W. BUSHYHEAD, Mrs. Milton STALCUP,
Mrs. Ralph GILL, Mrs. Herman NUNN, Mrs. Bill SHARP and Mrs. Harold MOTEN.
Survivors are his wife Naomi; one daughter, Mrs. Hank (Eugenia) MORRIS and
a granddaughter, all of the home.

ROBERTS
Funeral service for J.F. ROBERTS, 78, a pioneer citizen and well known mortician,
was held Thursday in the Roberts Chapel, Stilwell.
ROBERTS, who was born in Washington County, Arkansas, died Sunday in a Tulsa
hospital after a month's illness.
He and Mrs. ROBERTS opened Westville's first funeral home in the building
now occupied by the Sunset Theater, in 1927, in addition to his funeral home
in Stilwell, that was established in 1914.
Active in all civic affairs, in both Stilwell and Westville, he was past
master of the First Masonic Lodge, Stilwell, and a member of the Baptist
church there.
Pallbearers were Hap BREWER, Julian THOMAS, Dr. Burdge GREEN, Wren FLETCHER,
Ray KELLEY and Max BAKER.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. James STEELE, Jr., Denver, Colo.; one
sister, Mrs. Oscar CROSS, Stilwell and several nieces and nephews.
Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery.
MONROE
Funeral service for Olan J. MONROE, 55, was held Tuesday, February 9 in the
Roberts Chapel, with Rev. James PENLAND, Big Cedar, Kansas, officiating.
Mr. MONROE, who was born June 11, 1907 in Shawnee, died suddenly in his home
in Kansas City, Kansas, Saturday. He was married to Lula HARDAGE, March 7,
1942.
Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL and Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, accompanied by Mrs. Robert
EFFENBERGER provided the music.
Pallbearers were Louis HARDAGE, Luther HARDAGE, Lloyd HARDAGE, Pat HARDAGE,
Luke HARDAGE and Lee HARDAGE. Honorary pall bearers were Leo BEARD, Gene
ERICKSON and Buford JONES.
Flower bearers were Linda HARDAGE, Gayle HARDAGE, Phyllis JONES, and Karen
WAGNON.
Survivors include the widow, Lula of the home; one daughter, Joann JONES
and one son, James, both of Kansas City, Kansas; two brothers, Carroll of
Odessa, Texas and C.R. of Pasadena, Calif.; and one sister, Ruth PRICE, Dennison,
Tex.
Burial was in the Westville Cemetery.
PRECHTEL
Charles PRECHTEL, 90, resident of Watts, Okla., passed away in the Memorial
Hospital, Friday, February 8. A native of Missouri, hewas born April 27,
1872, and had been a resident of Watts for many years.
He is survived by one son, H.C. PRECHTEL, Santa Monica, Calif., and one niece,
Mrs. John A. SAMORAJEZYK of West Hartford, Conn.
Funeral services for Mr. PRECHTEL were held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 11,
in the Methodist church at Watts with Rev. L.A. PETERS officiating.
Burial was in the Watts Cemetery under the direction of the Wasson Funeral
Home.

MAPLES
Funeral service for Mrs. William (Florence) MAPLES, 79, was held Wednesday
at 2 p.m. in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Luther NELSON, Stilwell,
officiating and assisted by the Rev. Eugene BIBY Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON and
Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL accompanied by Mrs. Robert EFFENBERGER, sang "Precious
Memories," "I'll Meet You in the Morning," and "Farther Along."
Mrs. MAPLES was born July 2, 1883 in Dodge City, Kansas, and died Monday,
February 18 in the Elizabeth Hospital, Prairie Grove, Ark.; following several
weeks illness.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.
Pallbearers were Neil AKIN, Fred WILT, Marvin CAGLE, Will COSBY, Junior CHOATE
and John CRITTENDEN.
Flower bearers were Mrs. W.E. SYLER, Mrs. Minnie MELROSE, Mrs. Joe ROORK,
Mrs. Fred WILT, Mrs. Dora BEACH and Mrs. John CRITTENDEN.
Survivors include her husband William MAPLES; six sons, James R. MAPLES,
Trona, Calif., Alvis MAPLES, Sacramento, Calif., Frank MAPLES, Amarillo,
Tex., Elmer MAPLES, Lubbock, Tex., Daniel MAPLES, St. Louis, Mo., Leonard
MAPLES, Orange, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel PARKER, Helens, Oregon,
and Mrs. Jim (Edith) BEACH, Westville; two brothers, one sister, twenty-two
grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mrs. Belle RHINE, 72, was held Sunday afternoon at 2
o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bud LACIE assisted by Rev. Haden
COLVIN officiating. The Lacie quartet sang, "How Beautiful Heaven Must
Be," "I Will Not Be a Stranger," and "Beautiful Garden on High."
Mrs. RHINE was born November 19, 1885 in Coal County, Missouri, and died
Thursday, February 21 in the Elizabeth Hospital, Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
Interment was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts
Funeral Home.
Pall bearers were grandsons, Danny SMITH, Larry KENDALL, of Westville; Bob
SMITH, Fayetteville, Ark.; Jim SMITH, Abilene, Tex.; Vern RHINE, Miracle,
Tex.; William GUTHRIE, Tahlequah. Flower bearers were Misses Jessie Faye
and Ella Mae MORRIS, Tulsa; Mrs. Hattie SISK, Twin Oaks; Mrs. Lora DAVIS,
Lavonne HAMBLIN and Mrs. Edna JORDAN, Westville.
Survivors include one son, Virgil RHINE, Santa Barbara, Calif.; four daughters,
Mrs. Stella SMITH, Westville; Mrs. Lucile GUTHRIE, Tahlequah; Mrs. Tennie
HUNLEY, San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Edith SMITH of St. Helens, Oregon.
GIFFORD
Funeral rites for Abe Lincoln GIFFORD, 60, were held Thursday afternoon at
2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. F.E. LUNSFORD officiating.
Music was furnished by the Lacie family. Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mr. GIFFORD was born June 24, 1902, in Westville, the son of Charlie and
Hattie WILLIS GIFFORD and died in his home at Benicia, Calif., following
a heart attack.
Survivors include his wife, Mary GIFFORD, three daughters, Betty GUTHRIE,
Westville; Maxine LOWER, Long Beach, Calif.; Lily REIL, San Pedro, Calif.;
2 sons, Lloyd GIFFORD, Marysville, Calif.; Clifford, GIFFORD, Stockton, Calif.;
three brothers, E.B. GIFFORD and Hugh GIFFORD, Westville; Jess GIFFORD, Pawhuska;
three sisters, Mrs. Anna ERICKSON, Westville; Mrs. Minnie CORNISH,
Colorado, Springs, Colo.; Mrs. Kay EDGMAN, Amarillo, Texas; and twelve
grandchildren.
ALBERTY
Friends and relatives were saddened to learn of the death of George A. (Budge)
ALBERTY, 68, of Torrance, Calif., who was fatally injured in an automobile
accident on February 12, near Palm Springs, Calif. Funeral services were
held in Lomita, Calif., February 16, with interment in that city.
Mr. ALBERTY, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake ALBERTY, was born and reared in the
Westville community, but for the past several years had made his home in
California.
His survivors include his wife Clara of the home; one son, Richard, Tulsa;
two daughters, Mrs. Wilma RADKE, Lomita, Calif., and Mrs. Shirley TIMMS,
Torrance, Calif.; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren; three brothers,
Tom and Dewey, of Tulsa and Fred of Hulbert; two sisters, Mrs. Ella ALBERTY
and Mrs. Myrtle GIBSON, Westville, and a host of other relatives and
friends.
In addition to the immediate family, out of town friends and relatives who
attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Owen ALBERTY and Merle, El Monte,
Calif.; Ruth ALBERTY, Bud HOLT and Ruth COMFORT, Los Angeles, Calif.; Dewey
ALBERTY, Tulsa; Mr. and Mrs. A.W. SANDERS and Carl WRIGHT, Long Beach, Calif.,
Mr. and Mrs. Frank LANGLEY, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Howard HELDERLEIN, Oxnard,

Funeral service for Mrs. Laura Belle KNUTH, 72, was held in Roberts Funeral
Chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. F.E. LUNSFORD officiating.
The Willie PADGETT family of Sallisaw had charge of the music. Interment
was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mrs. KNUTH was born July 2, 1890 at Lowgap, Arkansas, and died Saturday,
February 24 in Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
Grandsons served as pall bearers and granddaughtes were flower bearers. Survivors
include her husband, John of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Bud LACIE, of
Westville; six sons, Charlie ELMORE, Westville, Russell and Roy ELMORE,
Portersville, Calif., Troy ELMORE, Siloam Springs, Ark., and Doy Lee ELMORE
of Bokeshe.
WATSON
Funeral service for Thomas F. WATSON, 82, former resident of Adair County,
and uncle of W.C. BOST of Westville, was held Monday morning at 10:30 a.m.
in the Thornhill-Dillion Funeral Chapel at Joplin, Mo., with the Rev. Thurman
D. KELLEY officiating.
Mr. WATSON was born June 18, 1880 at Salem Springs, Arkansas, and died Saturday,
February 24 in the Joplin General Hospital. He was a retired railroad employee
also a retired farmer and had resided in Joplin since 1909, moving there
from Stilwell.
Mr. WATSON was a brother of the late Mrs. Callie BOST of Westville and later
of Searcy, Ark.
Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery at Joplin.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Grace WATSON, and a number of nephews
and a niece.

BROWN
Funeral service for Melburn H. (Bill) BROWN, 59, of Tulsa, a retired oil
drilling superintendent, was held Saturday in the Tulsa-Whisenhunt Funeral
Chapel. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa.
Mr. BROWN, former Westville resident, and a brother-in-law of E.D. CARMICHAEL,
was born in Springfield, Mo., and suffered a fatal heart attack in his home
in Tulsa Thursday, February 28.
He entered the oil business in 1926 as a rotary drilling crew member and
formerly worked for the Portable Drilling Corp. and the Parker Drilling Co.,
of Tulsa. He helped direct Parker's drilling in the United States, South
America and Canada.
Mr. BROWN was a member of the Trinity Methodist church in Tulsa. Survivors
include his wife, Hazel; two sons, Donald, Lovington, N. Mex., and Raymond,
Houston, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Frances HOLLIER, Abbeville, La.; two brothers,
a sister and several grandchildren.
TACKETT
Funeral service for Noah Maple TACKETT, 79, retired Sallisaw merchant, was
held in the Sallisaw Church of Christ, Monday, March 4 with Ira C. BRACKETT,
officiating. Burial was in the Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction
of the Agent Funeral Home.
Mr. TACKET was the father of Herman TACKETT, who with Mrs. TACKETT, formerly
operated a restuarant in Westville. He is survived by three other sons, a
sister, 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
KENYON
Funeral service for Mrs. Bell KENYON, was held Saturday, March 2 in the Watts
Baptist Church. Mrs. KENYON, a Watts resident for 30 years, died in a fire
in her trailer home Thursday night.
The Siloam Springs Fire Department call to her home at 10:45 p.m. found all
the interior of the trailer home had burned. Her body, badly burned from
the waist down, was found a few feet from the bed.
Mrs. KENYON was born in Iowa, April 12, 1876. She is survived by a brother,
Clarence LOOMIS, Mankat, Kansas; four sisters, Mrs. Grace WIERENGE,
Cawker City, Kansas; Miss Daisy BROWN, Steamboat, Colo.; Mrs. Allie KENT,
Washington, D.C.; and Mrs. Margaret HOFFHINES of Downs, Kansas.
Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs, Ark., under direction
of Roberts Funeral Home.
REED
James N. REED, former resident of Watts, Okla., died February 28 in Morton,
Wash. He was born March 12, 1880 in Barnard, Mo., and had been a resident
of the west coast for 20 years, moving from Watts. He was a member of the
Baptist church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Raymond MCCOY, Watts, Mrs. Jess MCCOY,
Talala, Okla., Mrs. Everett SCHERRER, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; six sons, Charlie,
Ray, Paul and Frank of Morton, Wash., Glenn of Oregon, and Marshall, Eureka,
Calif.; 16 grandchildren; one brother, Charlie of St. Joseph, Mo.; four sisters,

Monday, March 11 in the Lescher Funeral Chapel, Muskogee, with the Rev. Earl

A native of Missouri, born August 14, 1872 she died Saturday morning, March
9, in a Muskogee hospital, following a brief illness. She was a member of
the St. Paul Methodist church, Muskogee. Mrs. GROOMS is survived by 3 daughters,
Mrs. E.R. LAWRENCE, Okla. City, Mrs. Tobe MCINTOSH, Lawton and Mrs. Albert
JOHNSON, Muskogee, with whom she had made her home for the past several months;
two sons, E.V. GROOMS, Muskogee and R.G. GROOMS of Rt. 2, Westville.
Burial was in the Middleton Chapel Cemetery in Oktaha.

Funeral service for Virginia N. CARTER, 62, was held Monday in the Roberts
Chapel, with Clifford MOORE and Bob LATTA officiating. Mrs. CARTER died Saturday
in a Siloam Springs hospital.

Mr. WILSON, a native of Morrow, Ark., died Tuesday, March 5, in the Stilwell
Municipal Hospital, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Florence,

Mr. TYLER, a long time Westville resident, was born November 1, 1877 in Lamar,
Missouri, and died Saturday, March 16 in the Webster Nursing home at Leach.
He is survived by two daughters, Merle PRESLEY, Nevada, Mo., and Mabel PINSON,
Harrison, Ark.
Pall bearers were members of the Masonic Lodge; Sam WYSE, Ragan RATLIFF,
Joy Lee POYNOR, Bob WHITE and George GUTHRIE. Interment was in the Lake Cemetery,
Tuesday in Lamar, Mo.
CONLIN
Funeral service for James CONLIN, 76, a former Westville resident, was held
Monday, March 11 in the Roberts Chapel, with Father Anthony of Hugo, officiating.
Music was furnished by the Bill Hunt Quartet.
Burial was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mr. CONLIN was born April 28, 1886 in Bushong, Kansas, and died in Hugo,
Wednesday, March 6th.

MATTHEWS
Dr. Grady F. MATTHEWS, 73, former Oklahoma State Health Commissioner died
in Oklahoma City Monday, March 18.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Corpus Christi Catholic
Church in Oklahoma City of which he was a member. Dr. MATTHEWS was Health
Officer for Adair County during the early days of Public Health.
PACK
Funeral service for Mrs. W.M. (Nancy Jane) PACK, 65, a Proctor resident,
was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 16 in the Roberts Chapel, with Rev. WILSON,
Sapulpa, officiating.
Mrs. PACK, who died in a Tulsa hospital, Tuesday, March 12, was born in Proctor,
July 23, 1897.
Survivors include five children, Jewel Dean HAMILTON, of Houston, Texas,
Catherine HENDRIX, Oklahoma City, Eugene PACK, of Tulsa, Johnny PACK of
Pennsylvania and Vern NAPIER of Sapulpa.
Burial was in the Proctor Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral

HENDRIX
Valen HENDRIX, father of Richard and Jim HENDRIX of Westville, died at his
home in Woodbine, Kansas, Wednesday morning, March 20, following an extended
illness.
Funeral service will be held Friday at the Methodist church in Woodbine,
with burial in the City Cemetery at Randall, Kansas.
Survivors other than his two sons in Westville are his wife of the home and
two daughters, Mrs. Mary HILL, Colorado; Mrs. Norma HILL El Dorado, Kansas,
and several grandchildren.
MCKINNEY
Funeral service for John MCKINNEY, 78, Fairfzx, former resident of Westville,
was held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Roberts Chapel, with Rev. ZERY (Essary),
of Stilwell officiating.
Mr. MCKINNEY was born July 25, 1884 in Prairieville, Arkansas, and died Tuesday,
March 12 in the Bennett Nursing Home in Westville.

Funeral service for Mrs. Lucy Drucilla NICHOLAS, 71, was held Thursday, March

Mrs. NICHOLAS was born in Rockwell, Texas, April 24, 1891 and died March
15 in Modesto, Calif.
She is survived by three sons, Edward and Harold, Modesto, Calif., James,
Sacramento, Calif., and one daughter, Mrs. Lee (Grace) FADDIS of Westville,
one brother and one sister, both of Modesto, Calif.
Burial was in the Bethsada Cemetery near Lincoln, Ark., under direction of

SHACKLEFORD
Funeral service for Clarence Clifford SHACKLEFORD, 68, was conducted Tuesday,
April 2 at 2 p.m. by Rev. Clayton WALTERS in Roberts Funeral Chapel. Mrs.
George MURRAY sang a solo, "When They Ring Those Golden Bells," Mrs. MURRAY
and Mrs. Charles BROOKS sang, "Abide With Me" accompanied by Mrs. Duke
CARLTON.
Mr. SHACKLEFORD passed away suddenly at his home in Westville, Okla., Saturday
morning, March 30 at 6 o'clock, having never fully recovered from a heart
attack he had a year ago.
He was born February 26, 1895 at Siloam Spring, Ark. A few years later his
parents moved to Prairie Grove, Ark., where he grew to manhood. In 1917 he
and Lillie GIBBS were married at Siloam Springs.
Mr. SHACKLEFORD taught school a number of years in Arkansas and Adair County,
Oklahoma. For several years he was in the Westville school system as grade
school principal. For the past 30 years he had owned and operated the Shackleford
Hardware in Westville, Okla.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, Board of Stewards and Board of Trustees
of the church, former Sunday School teacher and Sunday Sschool Superintendent,
a member of Westville Community Improvement Club, Westville Lodge 186 A.F.
& A.M. and the McAlester Consistory.
His survivors are his wife Lillie of the home; a son Lloyd Clarence SHACKLEFORD
and wife Lee of Chicago, Ill., and three grandchildren, Larry, Elaine and
Jane. Active pallbearers were Clint BIBY, Dan MEEH, Leslie ALDERSON, George
MURRAY, Duke CARLTON, and Lee MARTIN. Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence
SEARS, Jeff CARTER, Robert PHELAN, John HUNSAKER, Bill TULLIS and Jack LOCKHART.
Flower bearers were Mrs. Lawrence SEARS, Mrs. Leslie ALDERSON, Mrs. M.R.
TITTLE, Mrs. Clint BIBY, Mrs. Jeff CARTER, Mrs. Marvin TRAW, Mrs. George
MURRAY, Mrs. John HUNSAKER. Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under
the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
HALL
Mrs. Elmer SNODGRASS HALL, 86, mother of Elmer HALL of Westville, died Monday
in Midland, Texas. Funeral and burial was held in Lincoln, Ark., Mrs. HALL's
former home.
Survivors other than her son Elmer, are two other sons, Vol of Oklahoma City
and Loyd of California; two daughters, Lucile SUTTERS and Ola Marie COPELAND
of Midland.
SNYDER
Mattie A. BROWN was born to Henry B. and Sarah BROWN, July 8, 1876, and passed
away March 26, 1963, at 1 p.m. at the age of 86 yers, 8 months and 18 days.
She was married to George N. SNYDER November 24, 1898. To this union was
born 8 children, six boys, Vollie L., Ernest C., Westville; William H., Lonnie
V., Highfill A., Clovis, New Mex.; Eugene K. Albuquerque, New Mex.; and two
girls, Bernice and Ruth who preceded her in death. Mr. SNYDER died February
17, 1937.
Mrs. SNYDER was converted in early life and united with the Missionary Baptist
Church. She joined the New Hope Church, June 13, 1909 and was an active member
for 54 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing six sons: two brothers, Isaac BROWN, Boring,
Ore., Benny BROWN, Stilwell; one sister, Minnie SHINE, Costa Mesa, Calif.;
17grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, March 28, in the Roberts Chapel. Her
body was sent by train, to Clovis, N. Mex. Burial was in Memory Gardens of
Memories by the side of her late husband.

HUMPHREY
Funeral service for Ralph H. HUMPHREY, 58, was held Wednesday morning at
10:00, in the Roberts Chapel, with Rev. C. J. WALTERS and Rev. Hayes HENRY
officiating. Mrs. George MURRAY sang, "In the Garden," and "Beyond the Sunset,"
accompanied by Mrs. Duke CARLTON A resident of this area for the past 10
years, Mr. HUMPHREY died suddenly at his home, Sunday morning, April 7. He
was born January 8, 1905, in Marysville, Tenn. He moved to Bristow as a child
and later attended the University of Tulsa where he played football, graduating
in 1928.
Married to the former Delphia BROWNING, football queen at TU, he worked as
a chemist for Mid-Continent Oil Co., Following his retirement, Mr. and Mrs.
HUMPHREY moved to a farm in the Addielee community near Westville. He was
a member of the First Methodist Church in Westville.
Survivors include his wife, Delphia, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Harry
(Patricia) MACFARLAND, Texas City, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. Jim WINFOLY,
Mrs. Clem FAULKNER, Mrs. Robert BOYOULY and Mrs. George COKLO; two brothers,
Hugh HUMPHREY and Howard HUMPHREY, and his mother, Mrs. Susp HUMPHREY.
Interment was in the Memorial Cemetery, Tulsa, under the direction of Roberts
Funeral Home.
TURMAN
Oscar Wallace TURMAN, 66 year old resident of Siloam Springs, died April
3 in Memorial Hospital. He was born at Marble City, Okla., April 23, 1896
and had spent most of his life in this area. He was a retired conductor for
the K.C.S. retiring two years ago. He was a World War 1 veteran, a member
of the American Legion, Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, Westville Masonic
Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, Consistory and Shrine and a member of the Church
of Christ, Siloam Springs.
He is survived by three brothers, James R. of Phoenix, Ariz., Lloyd H. of
Miami Springs, Fla., and John R. of Heavener, Okla., two sisters, Mrs. Bertie
SANDERS, Redwood, Calif., and Mrs. Della WHITE, Washington.
Funeral services for Mr. TURMAN were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5 in the
Wasson Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ted JOHNSON officiating. Interment was
in the Westville Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites by Westville Masonic
Lodge. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wasson Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Adam TUTTLE, 85, was held Wednesday, April 24, 2 p.m.

Mr. TUTTLE died at his home near Westville, Sunday. He was born April 14,
1878 in Eastburnstedt, Kentucky, the son of Beth and adam TUTTLE.
Survivors are three sons, Bradley of Brentwood, Calif., Pernon, Westville
and Cris of Dewey; five daughters, Maud ABNER, Westville, Flora KING, Farmington,
Ark., Nora WOLFENBARGER, Brentwood, Calif., Dora WOLFENBARGER, Antioch, Calif.,

great grandchildren.

FAIN
Mrs. Margaret FAIN, 83, resident of Route 1, Watts, died Thursday night in
Memorial Hospital. She was born May 27, 1879, in Crawford County, Ark., and
had been a resident of the Watts area since 1927. She was a member of the
Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors are four sons; Gordon of Muskogee, Okla., Jarva of Los Angeles,
Calif., Jim and Ward of Watts; four daughters, Mrs. Mae CARNES, Mrs. Hazel
GARRETT, Mrs. Irene WILLIAMS and Mrs. Oneeta HAMPTON all of Watts; one brother,
Harry BARKER of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Miss Jewel HARPER and Mrs.
Birdie SKEENS, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 18 great
grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Services were held at 10 a.m., Sunday in the New Hope Church, with Rev. Ted
TURNER and Rev. Clark WILSON officiating. Interment was in New Hope Cemetery

Westville communicty, died Monday in Butler, Mo., where he had lived since
retirement. Funeral and burial was held Wednesday in Butler.
Survivors include three sons; Jim of Springdale, Ark., Frank of Pryor and
Hugh of Tulia, Texas, and three grandsons.

Graveside service for Mrs. O.W. (Gertrude) CHURCH, 55, resident of Liberal,
Kansas, was held Monday at 4 p.m. in the Baptist Mission Cemetery, with Rev.
Bud LACIE officiating.
Born December 3, 1907 in Westville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee FOLSUM,
and reared in Westville, Mrs. CHURCH died in a Liberal hospital, following
a brief illness. Funeral service was conducted in Liberal, Sunday.
Pallbearers for the graveside rites were Marvin CAGLE, Jeff CARTER, C.E.
PACE, Lee PICKENS, HardyCOMSTOCK and Thomas BRIGHT. Flower bearers were Mrs.
Lee PICKENS, Mrs. Hardy COMSTOCK, Mrs. C.E. PACE and Miss Bertha BROWN.
She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Hal (Serena PACE, Westville, Mrs.
Homer (Edna) ELLIS, Newcastle, Wyo., Mrs. A.F. (Hattie) FORREST, Woodward
and one brother, Elmer FOLSUM, Kansas City, Kansas. Roberts Funeral Home
was in charge of the service.
ALEXANDER
Funeral service for Mrs. Pollie ALEXANDER, 78, a former resident of Summers,
Ark., was held Thusday afternoon, May 9 in the Summers Baptist Church of
which she was a member.
Mrs. ALEXANDER died May 5, in a Springfield, Missouri, hospital. Burial was
in the Ganderville Cemetery near Summers.
Survivors are a son, Robert G. ALEXANDER of Orange, Calif.; five grandchildren
and one great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Maude EDWARDS and Mrs. Myrtle
WITT; one brother, J.D. THOMASON, Vinita.

GIBSON
Funeral Rites for Harvey Samuel GIBSON, 84, life long resident of Summers,
Ark., were held Thursday afternoon, May 16, in the Methodist church at Summers,
of which he was a member. Interment was in the Ganderville Cemetery near
Summers.
He was born September 21, 1878 at Summers and died in a Fayetteville hospital
May 14.
Survivors include his wife, Anna of the home; one son, James, of Summers;
one sister, Mrs. Jennie VENABLE, Lincoln, Ark., and four grandchildren.
HOGSHOOTER
Funeral service for Joe HOGSHOOTER, 69, lifetime resident of Watts, was held
Tuesday in the Illinois River Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Mr.
HOGSHOOTER died at his home Saturday morning, May 17th.
Survivors are a son, Andy HOGSHOOTER, Watts; 2 sisters, Ida HOGSHOOTER and
Mrs. Emma ROBBIT, Watts; and 5 grandchildren.
Interment was in the Thomason Cemetery, near Chewey, under the direction
of the Pyeatte Funeral Home.
HICKMAN
Frank HICKMAN, 70, Stockton, Calif., former resident of Westville community
died Wednesday morning in a Tulsa hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. HICKMAN were enroute to Westville, when on May 9, in a car accident
near Tulsa, Mrs. HICKMAN, 70, was killed and Mr. HICKMAN injured which caused
his death. Mrs. HICKMAN's body was returned to California for burial. Relatives
of Mr. HICKMAN said they had not been notified, but felt sure his body would
also be returned to California for burial.
Survivors include eight children: a son, Bob HICKMAN of Colcord, Okla., the
other seven in California; a brother, Joe HICKMAN of Westville and E.M. HICKMAN
of Watts.
OLIVER
Mrs. Charles FREEMAN was called to Sapulpa last week because of the death
of her brother, William OLIVER. Mr. OLIVER, 45, who had lived in Sapulpa
for 24 years prior to moving to Leadville, Colorado, in November, was employed
by Climax Molydenum Co. He was killed May 10 in a traffic accident in Idaho
Springs, Colo. His wife was critically injured and the driver of the other
car involved was killed.
Funeral service was held in Sapulpa, Saturday.
Survivors include his widow, Evelyn; three sons, Donald and Michael of the
home, Gary with the U.S. Army in Tokyo, Japan; his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
H.M. OLIVER, Sapulpa; two brothers, Roy of Tulsa and Cecil of Sapulpa; one
sister, Mrs. FREEMAN, Westville.

Funeral service for Mrs. Martha Grace LAYMAN, 51, was held Monday in the
Luginbuel Chapel, Prairie Grove, Ark. Mrs. LAYMAN, a sister of Mrs. Ellie
COMSTOCK, Westville, died in Prairie Grove, Friday, May 24. She was a former
employee of the Prairie Grove school system and a member of the Holiness
Church. She was born September 26, 1911 in Odell, Ark.

Funeral service for Mrs. Martha S. TAYLOR, 67, was held on Thursday in the
Roberts Chapel with Rev. E.G. WINFREY of Fayetteville, officiating. Music

Mrs. TAYLOR, former Westville resident, died Friday, May 24, in Sacramento,
Calif., following a long illness. Born September 21, 1895 in Seligman, Mo.,
she was married to Dallas D. HAMBLIN at the age of 18 and moved to the Westville
community where she resided until Mr. HAMBLIN's death in 1940, when she moved
to California. In 1944 she was married to John TAYLOR.
Survivors include her husband John; three daughters, Mrs. Gwin (Marjorie)
MULLIN, Westville, Mrs. Ethel GOODMAN, of Stockton, Calif., Jewelene BAKER,
Richfield, Utah; three sons, J.D. HAMBLIN Richmond, Calif., and F.L. HAMBLIN,
Sacramento, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters,
Julia MCCONNELL, Orville, Calif.; Flora ROLLER, Seligman, Mo.; Pansy HUNTLY,

Funeral service for Henry (Hank) E. EVERSOLL, 51, of near Dutch Mills, Ark.,
was held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Dutch Mills Baptist Church with Rev.
WALL and Dr. Earl C. SMITH officiating.
Mr. EVERSOLL, an uncle of Richard HENDRICKS and Dr. J.V. HENDRICKS of Westville,
died in the Stilwell Municipal hospitl, Sunday, following a short illness.
Survivors include his wife, Opal. of the home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Earnest EVERSOLL, Dutch Mills; one son, three daughters, three brothers and
one sister, Mrs. Hazel HENDRICKS of Woodland, Texas. Burial was in the Dutch
Mill Cemetery.
MAYS
Funeral service for W. S. MAYS, 82, who died in his home in Stilwell, Thursday,
was held Monday in the First Baptist Church, Stilwell.
MAYS, who taught school in Stilwell for 30 years, was Adair County Superintendent
for 20 years, prior to his retirement in 1961. He held bachelor's and master's
degrees in education brom Berea College, Berea, Ky., and Northeastern State
College, at Tahlequah.
Survivors include four sons, two daughters, a brother, James T. MAYS of Stilwell
and a sister, Mrs. Martha GIRDNER, Stilwell. Burial was in the Bunch Cemetery,
under the direction of the Roberts Funeral Home.

ELAM
Funeral rites for Richard Marion ELAM, 78, were held Monday 10 a.m. in the
Wasson Funeral Chapel at Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Interment was in the Oak
Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs.
Mr. ELAM, native of Illinois and former Oklahoma newspaper died Friday morning
in the Siloam Springs hospital, following a brief illness. He published
newspapers at Enid, Wewoka, Clinton and Pryor, Okla., moving to Arkansas,
he was owner and publisher of the Bentonville newspaper and later published
the Interstate News in Siloam Springs, Ark. After a few years, retiring from
the newspaper publication, he entered the real estate business and established
the Two States Realty, which he was operating at the time of his death. He
was a member of the Methodist church, a former president of the Oklahoma
Press Association, a member of Oklahoma Legislature in the House, 1922-1924,
served as chairman of Oklahoma Fourth Congressional District Central Committee
1922-1924; and Secretary of Oklahoma State Democratic Convention 1930. Mr.
ELAM was a graduate of Southeastern Normal College, Winfield, Kansas, and
McPherson, Kansas College. He taught school for a number of years in Kansas
before moving to Oklahoma and entering the publishing business. Organizer
of the Barnsdall Bank of Commerce in 1923, he served as first president.
Survivors are his wife, Mabel of the home; a son, Steve ELAM, San Benito,
Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Glenn HAYS, DeQueen, Ark.; a brother, J.F. ELAM,
Richland, Wash.; two sisters, [one of which is] Mrs. William WATKINS, Anthony,
Kansas. Six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mrs. Maymie L. DANIELS, 50 year old resident of Watts, Okla., died suddenly
at her home on Tuesday night, June 18. She was born June 3, 1913, in Watts
and had spent her entire life there. She was an active member of the Methodist
church in Watts and of the Woman's Society there.
She is survived by her husband, C.M. DANIELS; one daughter, Miss Elizabeth
DANIELS, of the home; three sons, Buddy Joe, of Santa Marie, Calif., Robert
and Bill of the home; her mother, Mrs. J.W. HOLLOWAY, Neosho, Mo.; one sister,

Saturday. He was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

BYNUM
Funeral services for A. H. BYNUM, 83 brother of W. T. BYNUM, Westville was
held Monday at the Whisenhunt Funeral Chapel in Tulsa with the pastor of
St. Paul's Methodist Church officiating, of which he was a member.
Mr. BYNUM was born September 17, 1879 at Indianola, Indian Territory, and
died June 27, following a long illness. He and his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
R.A. BYNUM moved to Tulsa in 1886 and had resided there until his death.
Survivors include his wife, Ida of the home; two sons, Ralph and Glenn BYNUM;
a sister, Mrs. A.H. WOODARD, Tulsa; his brother, W.T. BYNUM and two
grandchildren. Interment was in Memorial Cemetery, Tulsa.
CASSIDY
Funeral service for David E. CASSIDY, 70, was held Sunday in the Smith Funeral
Chapel, Kerrville, Texas.
Mr. CASSIDY, father of Mrs. Claude SNIDER of Westville was born December
4, 1892 in Grandburg, Texas, and died in a Kerrville hospital Thursday, July
4, following a brief illness. He was a former resident of Summers, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude, of the home; one son, H.R. CASSIDY,
Perry, Okla.; three daughters, Mrs. Jimmie MEYERS, Ramona, Calif.; Mrs. Walter
GEE, Grand Isle, La.; and Mrs. SNIDER, Westville; six grandchildren and three
great grandchildren.
Interment was in the Memory Lane Cemetery, Kerrville, with graveside services
conducted by the Oddfellow Lodge.
HOLLAND
Funeral service for Miss M. Belle HOLLAND, 50, was held Friday in Dewey,
with burial in the Dewey Cemetery. A native of Westville, Miss HOLLAND had
lived in Dewey for 40 years, moving there from Copan.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lulu HOLLAND, of the home, and two sisters.

Funeral service for Lt. Lawrence WATSON, 22 year old Marine Corp Officer,
was held on Monday in the Primrose Chapel in Norman, Okla., with Rev. Clayborn
DEERING, an uncle of Mrs. WATSON, officiating. Dennis LEDBETTER, soloist,
sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "God Be With You."
He died suddenly Wednesday, July 10, at the U.S. Naval Base, Pensacola, Fla.,
where he was attending the U.S. Naval School of Pre-Flight. Lt. and Mrs.
WATSON recently graduated from Oklahoma State University, where he also received
his commission in the Marine Corp. He was the son-in-law of Mr. and
Mrs. W.A. ROBERSON, 1713 Rowena Lane, Norman. Mrs WATSON is the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. ALBERTY, Westville. Survivors include his wife, the
former Karen ROBERSON; his parents, Lt. Col. and Mrs. W.K. WATSON, U.S. Air
Force Norton A.F.B., Calif., and two brothers, Gordon and Warren.
Pall bearers were John FINGERLIN, Bill FITZGERALD, Bill ROBERSON, his
brother-in-law, Bob LESLIE, Gordon and Warren WATSON, his brothers.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norman. Presenation of the American

Funeral service for Mrs. Clarence (Dollie May) LINVILLE of Topeka, Kansas,

Stilwell, officiating.
Mrs. LINVILLE who died Wednesday in a Topeka hospital, was born November
21, 1906, in Bartlesville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.F. GOLDMAN.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence of the home; one son, James E. LINVILLE,
Melbure, Fla.; one brother, Fred GOLDMAN, Westville; one sister, Tallala
WHITE, Tulsa; and one grandchild.

Funeral service for Clifford MORGAN, 54, was held Tuesday July 9, in the
Roberts Chapel in Stilwell.
Mr. MORGAN, who was born May 6, 1909, at Tahlequah, died July 6 in Talihina,
after an extended illness. He was the son of Jasper MORGAN who preceded him
in death and Mrs. Girtie PADEN of Westville.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet; a daughter, Dorothy, both of Watertown,
Mass.; his mother Mrs. Girtie PADEN of Westville; two sisters, Mrs. Roy MCCOLLUM,

Funeral rites for Loren Elsworth (Buck) SHANKEL, 54, City Clerk of Westville
and Superintendent of the Water Department, will be held this afternoon at
2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel; Bro. John BALLARD, Harrison, Ark.,
officiating, assisted by Leonard MCCALLI of Vinita.
Mr. SHANKEL died early Tuesday morning at his home. He was born May 26, 1909
at Penalosa, Kansas, the son of Rev. and Mrs. Lewis E. SHANKEL. His father
being a Methodist minister and serving a number of churches, he received
his elementary and high school education in various schools in Kansas. He
attended Southwestern University in Winfield, Kansas. On July 28, 1932, he
and Miss Dorothy PARKS of Wichita, Kansas, were married and established their
home there, where they lived until January, 1946, when they moved to Westville,
and were associated with his parents in the mercantile business. In 1950,
he was elected City Clerk of Westville, in which position he was serving
at the time of his death. He was a member of the Church of Christ, serving
as Elder; the Westville Community Improvement Club; the cemetery board; and
recently appointed a member of Adair County Health Board. For a number of
years he was a member of the Westville School Board, serving as chairman
of the board much of the time; had served as a secretary and treasurer of
the Lions Club; chairman of many local drives and various committees and
organizations.
Interment will be in Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Sandra)
ISHMAEL of Tulsa; a grandson, Mike ISHMAEL; his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Lewis
E. SHANKEL of Roswell, N. Mex.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth MCCALL, Newton, Kansas

Mr. JOHNSON who was born in Newton County, Ark., April 6, 1886 died Tuesday

Funeral rites for Grover Cleveland HOLLAND, 44, of Prairie Grove, Ark., were
held on Wednesday at the Wedington Baptist Church with burial in the Wedington

Mr. HOLLAND was born June 24, 1919 at Wedington and died Monday, August 12
at his home.
He was a retired shoe store owner in Fayetteville and Lincoln, Ark.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred CUSHING HOLLAND of the home; one daughter,
Janet, of the home; two brothers, Lester of Lodi, Calif., Bill of Brentwood
Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Reba HALL, Brentwood, Calif., Mrs. Eua HALL,

RHEA
Mrs. Myrtle M. RHEA, 94, Fayetteville, Ark., died in a Springdale convalescent
home Tuesday night. She was born at Cane Hill, Ark., November 5, 1868, the
daughter of Charles and Anna HAGOOD MCCLELLAN and was married in 1886 to
Robert J. RHEA who preceded her in death in 1913. She moved to Fayetteville
in 1901 and was a member of the First United Presbyterian church. She was
the last and oldest living graduate of Cane Hill College.
Survivors include two sons, Admiral Powell M. RHEA and Harris RHEA, both
of Fayetteville; a half sister, Mrs. Sam WARE of Springfield, Mo.; six
grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Funeral service was at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Watson Mortuary, Fayetteville.
Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. RHEA, who was a cousin by marriage of the late P.V. CRAIG of Westville,
was a frequent guest in the CRAIG home and was well known in the Westville
community, as well as Cincinnati and Rhea, Ark.
PURLEE
Funeral service for the Rev. Charles D. PURLEE, 92, Siloam Springs, Ark.,
a retired minister, was held Tuesday in the First Christian church of Siloam
Springs.
Rev. PURLEE died Saturday in a Tahlequah nursing home. He had served the
ministry in the Christian church for more than 70 years and was a former
pastor of the Westville Christian church.
He is survived by a son Robert M. PURLEE, of Muskogee, Okla.
Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery [Siloam Springs, Ark.] under the direction
of Pyeatte Funeral Service.

Funeral service for Mrs. Tom (Mary) HUBBARD, 58, was held in the Proctor
Community Church Saturday with Rev. Bud LACIE officiating and music provided
by Dolly O'NEAL.
Mrs. HUBBARD who was born August 29, 1904, died Thursday at her home in
Tahlequah.
Survivors include four daughters, Peggie Marie PILKINGTON of Oklahoma City,

GOODMAN
Funeral rites for T.A. GOODMAN, Jr. (Sonny), 28, were held Wednesday afternoon
at 2:00 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with Glen CLORE, pastor of the
Church of Christ at Stilwell officiating. Music was by the youth Choir of
Colcord, with Don REEVES as director.
Sonny was born December 30, 1934, at Summers, Ark., and died Saturday afternoon,
August 31 in the Veterans Hospital at Kansas City, Mo., following several
months, illness.
At the age of seven years, he moved with his parents to Westville and entered
the second grade in school, and graduated from the Westville High School
in 1954.
He served two years in the Air Force, one of which was in England. Upon returning
to the states, he entered Oklahoma State Tech College at Okmulgee and finished
in Electronics. He received a B.S. degree from Northeastern State College
at Tahlequah.
On May 24, 1956, he and Miss Eileen MURPHY of London, England (whom he met
in service in England) were married.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.
Pallbearers were members of the Archie, Missouri school faculty with whom
he was associated and Dr. Carl MAHANEY and Leon LAWSON of Tahlequah. Flower
bearers were wives of members of the faculty, Archie, Missouri, and Mrs.
Carl MAHANEY, Mrs. Leon LAWSON, Tahlequah; Mrs. Raymond RUST, Mrs. Joy Lee

Funeral service for Harry DASHIELL, 72, was held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Roberts
Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Joel BLANTON, pastor of the First Baptist church
officiating. Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON was in charge of the music.
Mr. DASHIELL was born September 3, 1890 at Parsons, Kansas, and died at his
home on U.S. Hwy. 59 north of Westville, following a long illness.
Burial was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts
Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Lowell James FLIPPO, 54, was held 2 p.m. Sunday in the
Roberts Chapel, with Rev. Joel BLANTON officiating. Music was provided by
the choir of the Baptist church.
Mr. FLIPPO who was born August 20, 1909 in Blackrock, Ark., and died Friday
in the Veterans Hospital, Fayetteville, Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Ina; four daughters, Janie, Marsha, Paula and
Phoebe; a son, Bobby and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ragan RATLIFF, Leslie CARRINGTON, Clyde RATHER, Verlin
LITTLEJOHN, Lloyd CARSON and Bill GALBRAITH. Flower bearers were Mrs. Lossie
JOHNSON, Mrs. Lloyd CARSON, Mrs. J.D. ROSS, Mrs. Milton STALCUP and Mrs.

CLARK
Funeral rites for Herschel W. CLARK, 59, were held Wednesday afternoon at
2 o'clock in the Luginbuel Funeral Chapel at Lincoln, Ark. The obituary was
read by Jimmie SMITH of Prairie Grove, Ark. Music was several violin numbers.
Burial was in Ganderville Cemetery, near Summers, Ark.
Mr. CLARK was born December 2, 1903, in Grundy County, Mo., the son of Frank
and Minnie CLARK and died at his home in Westville Monday night, following
a long illness.
He started in the grocery business in Oregon, when only 19 years of age,
later going to Porterville, Calif., where he manufactured and repaired
violins.
A talented musician, he won many musical contests, and participated in a
number of National Folk Lore programs.
In 1923, he and Miss Ellen MCDONALD of Lincoln, Ark., were married at Jay,
Okla.
They immediately established the Jewelry and Watch Repair business as well
as a shoe shop in Lincoln. In 1937, they moved to Prairie Grove, Ark., and
continued in the Jewelry and Watch Repair business until 1954 when they turned
that store to their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald REINOLD.
They came to Westville during the year 1954 and established their Jewelry
business, including a watch repair department.
Mr. CLARK was interested in training young men in the watch repair business,
a number of whom are now in business for themselves.
Survivors are his wife, Ellen of the home; one son, Herschel CLARK, Jr.,
and one daughter, Mrs. Ronald REINOLD, both of Prairie Grove; a sister, Mrs.
Allie WHITTENBURG of Lincoln, and four grandchildren.

SUMMEY
Funeral rites for Harry Milton SUMMEY, 63, were held Wednesday afternoon
at 2:30 in the Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Clayton WALTERS pastor
of the Methodist church and the Rev. Joel BLANTON, pastor of the Baptist
church officiating. Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL and Mrs. Harold
Ray HART accompanied by Mrs. Grover HOWARD sang, "Haven of Rest," "Saved
by Grace" and "Be Still My Soul."
Mr. SUMMEY was born September 2, 1900 in Grandby, Mo., the son of James and
Mary Frances SUMMEY, the youngest of nine children, and died at his home
Monday morning September 16, after several months illness.
In 1913, he with his parents moved to Westville where he lived until his
death. He and Miss Ida PIERCE of Westville were married August 7, 1920. To
this union two children were born.
Mr. SUMMEY was a master mechanic, skilled in all crafts. He was a member
of the Methodist church.
Interment was in the Foreman Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.
Honorary pallbearers were: Jack GREGORY, Marvin CAGLE, W.C. BOST, Ed CARMICHAEL,
Leslie CARRINGTON, John BANNISTER, Vance GREEN. Active pallbearers were:

Funeral service for John C. GREGORY, 82, was held Friday in the Watts Baptist
church.
Mr. GREGORY was born May 7, 1881 in Pigeon Roost, Kentucky, and died Monday
in Siloam Springs Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy; two sons, Marshall GREGORY, Gardena, Calif.,
and W.E. GREGORY, Tulsa; one daughter, Mrs. Bill SPOUSE, Sallisaw; three

JONES
Funeral service for Mrs. Jimmie Lou JONES, 82, was held Friday in the Roberts
Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joel BLANTON officiating, and music provided by
Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON.
Mrs. JONES, who was born June 18, 1881 in Dalton, Ga., died Monday in
Talihina.
Survivors include three sons, John C. JONES, Watts, Bill JONES, Sacramento,
Calif., Barney JONES, Stockton, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Bernice FURLONG
of Oakland, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Sally LANGFORD and Mrs. Lucy THOMPSON,
both of Dalton, Ga.
Pallbearers were Oliver SELF, Roy CHAPMAN, Tommy SELF, Elbert SHEFFIELD,
Carl MORRIS and Perry HUDSON. Flower bearers were Mrs. Roy CHAPMAN and Mrs.

COMFORT
Mrs. Cora KERNS received a letter Wednesday from Miss Ruth COMFORT, Los Angeles,
Calif., notifying her of the sudden death of her mother, Mrs. K.G. COMFORT,
Saturday evening following a heart attack. Burial was in Inglewood Cemetery,
Los Angeles.
Mr. COMFORT, who preceded her in death, came to Westville in 1901 and purchased
the "New Era," weekly newspaper changing the name to "Westville Wigwam."
In 1902, he and Mrs. COMFORT (the former Miss Laura VANCE of Carthage, Mo.)
were married. They established their home in Westville where their four children,
Kenneth, Clifford (who died later), Ruth and Price, were born and reared.
The family was active in the business, civic, social and church life of the
community.
Mr. COMFORT and T.A. CATES established the first telephone system in Westville
in 1902. He organized the Peoples Bank in 1903 and was elected to the State
Legislature in 1922.
Following the death of her husband, Mrs. COMFORT moved to Stillwater, in
order that her two younger children, Ruth and Prince could enter Oklahoma
A. & M. College (now Oklahoma State University). Later she moved to Los
Angeles.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth COMFORT of the home 514 South New Hampshire
in Los Angeles; two sons, Prince of Los Angeles and Kenneth of Fort Worth,
Texas.
MCCRITE
Funeral service for J.W. MCCRITE, 89, was held Monday at Carnegie.
Mr. MCCRITE died at his home Friday following a long illness. A resident
of Carnegie for 20 years, he had lived in Westville for the past four
years.
He is survived by his wife and grandson, Ricky HENDERSON, of the home; three
sons, Irvin, of Muldrow, Eual and J.C., Oklahoma City; five daughters, Mrs.
Lucy HESSLIN and Mrs. Gladys BOYD of Fort Smith, Ark., and Mrs. Ruth TRUITT,
Ozark, Ark., Mrs. Cleta GEE and Mrs. Jimmie LEE, Reed, Calif.; 23 grandchildren
and 16 great grandchildren.
ADAMS
Funeral rites for John R. ADAMS, 73, were held Wednesday in the Roberts Funeral
Chapel with Bro. George GUTHRIE officiating. Music was furnished by the Bud
LACIE family.
Mr. ADAMS was born October 11, 1889 at Batesville, Ark., and died September
22 at his home in Watts after a long illness. He had been a resident of Oklahoma
for 28 years.
Burial was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts
Funeral Home.

Funeral service for John Van PARKS, 79, was held Sunday afternoon in Roberts
Chapel at 3 p.m. with Don REEVES, Minister of the Church of Christ at Colcord,
officiating.
The Fayetteville Ark., Church of Christ chorus sang, "Rock of Ages," "Where
the Soul of Man Never Dies," "Above the Bright Blue," " Why Did My Savior
Come to Earth."
Mr. PARKS was born December 26, 1883 at Oxford, Miss. The son of David and
Fannie PARKS, and died September 20, in the Tahlequah hospital.
He was married to Miss Allie Myrtle LOWRY, July 7, 1907, at Zion Chapel in
Weatherford, Oklahoma, who preceded him in death in 1940. To this union,
five daughters were born.
February 7, 1942, he was married to Mary Louella ROGERS in Medford, Okla.
They made their home in Wichita, and at Clearwater, Kansas before moving
to Westville in 1957.
In 1948 they moved to Blythe, Calif., living there two years, returning to
Westville and living here at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Church of Christ. For thirty-five years he was a member
of the Wichita, Kansas, school system and a member of the Kansas Teachers
Association.
He was a member of the Buster Brown Masonic Lodge No. 433, Wichita Consistory,
and Midian Shrine, Wichita, Kansas, and a member of the Colorado State Shrine,
Blythe, Calif.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.
Pallbearers were Ray STANFILL, Junior CHOATE, Joy Lee POYNOR, Raymond RUST,

Johnny RAUCH died Wednesday morning at his home in Lincoln, Ark., following
a short illness. Funeral arrangements were pending Thursday.
Survivors are his wife and daughter of the home. Mrs. Lloyd WOODS of Westville

DEVRIES
Funeral service for Harold William DEVRIES, 49, was held Saturday in the
Watts Methodist church with Rev. Leonard PETERS of Siloam Springs, Ark.,
officiating. Music was presented by the Watts Methodist Church choir.
Mr. DEVRIES was born June 6, 1914 in Truman, Minnesota, and died Wednesday
in Tulsa.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo of Tulsa; three brothers, Ben DEVRIES, Los
Angeles, Calif., Bill DEVRIES, Minneapolis, Minn., and Jack DEVRIES, also
of Minneapolis; three sisters, Mrs. Kate RICE, Wilcox, Nebr., Miss Norma
DEVRIES, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Loretta DIANE, of Huntington Park, Calif.,
and Mrs. Selma HEINE, Los Angeles, Calif.
Interment was in the Bell Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral

STEVENS
Fletcher STEVENS, 71, a former resident of this community, died Thursday
at his home in Overland Park, Kansas. Mr. STEVENS was born March 21, 1892.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning, September 28 in Overland Park
with Rev. Gail HOWARD officiating. Graveside services were held in the Westville
Cemetery Saturday afternoon with Rev. Morris MORGAN of the Pentecostal Holiness
Church officiating.
Mr. STEVENS is survived by his wife, May of the home; one sister, Mrs. John
ALLISON, Overland Park, Kansas; three daughters, Mrs. Vera KADLETZ, Overland
Park, Mrs. Thelma SWINNEY and Mrs. Alma DRASKOVICH, Kansas City, Kansas;
one son, Bennie STEVENS, Overland Park; seven grandcahildren and eight great
grandchildren.
The immediate family accompanied the body to Westville for burial. A grandson,
DeWayne GIFFORD, Grandview, Mo., other relatives and friends from Westville
and surrounding communities attended the graveside services here Saturday
afternoon.
MCFARLAND
Funeral service for George Washington MCFARLAND, 73, was held Tuesday in
the Watts Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Larry JONES and Darryl ZWINK
of Heavener officiating and music provided by the Baptist church choir.
Mr. MCFARLAND who was born September 19, 1890, in Evansville, Ark., the son
of Robert and May MCFARLAND, died Saturday, September 28 in a Poteau
hospital.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ruth QUICK, Bronson (i.e.) Mo., Mrs.
Lotta Mae BROWN, Enfield, Mrs. Vera DUNCAN, of Heavener; three sons, Harold
MCFARLAND, Heavener; Floyd MCFARLAND, U.S. Navy, Donald MCFARLAND, Fort Benning,
Ga.; and two brothers, Ulysses MCFARLAND, Muskogee and Joe MCFARLAND,
Earlsboro.
Burial was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of the Roberts

MALONEY
Mrs. Edith ALLEN MALONEY, mother of Dexter ALLEN of Lakewood, Calif., formerly
of Westville died suddenly Monday night at her home in Joplin, Missouri.
Funeral services were held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Jordan Funeral Home in
Columbus, Kansas, with interment in the Columbus Cemetery.
Mr. ALLEN will be remembered by many in Westville, as a member of the high
school faculty and football coach for several years.
Mrs. ALLEN is the former Miss Velma CARRINGTON, daughter of Mrs. CP. CARRINGTON,
and the late Mr. CARRINGTON.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, Mr. and Mrs. Luther WILLIAMS and Leslie CARRINGTON
attended the funeral Thursday.

Funeral service for Mrs. Lettie SMITH, 71, of Muskogee, was held Wednesday
at 2 p.m. in the Lescher Funeral Home in Muskogee, with the Rev. Sam COX,
pastor of Northside Baptist church officiating.
A twin sister of Mrs. Charley (Bess) CAGLE of Westville, Mrs. SMITH died
Saturday in a Muskogee hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Born October 10, 1892, in Christie the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph LITTLE,
Mrs. SMITH had made her home in Muskogee since 1943 where she was a member
of the Northside Baptist church. Her husband, Bill SMITH, preceded her in
death by several years.
Survivors include seven sons, Robert, Joe, Carl, Bill, Edgar and Sherman,
all of Muskogee and Lloyd of Harvey, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. R.M. PERRY, of
Muskogee; 28 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; four sisters, including Mrs.
CAGLE, Westville, Mrs. Jennie SMITH, Muskogee, Mrs. Susie BARTON, Kilgore,
Texas, Mrs. Mary VANBEBER, Kansas, and a brother, Charley LITTLE of River
Bank, Calif.
Interment was in the Proctor Cemetery.

WINN
Funeral service for E.W. WINN, 66, was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Blackburn,
Ark., Community Church.
Born July 27, 1897 in Blackburn, the son of Miles and Nellie WINN, he died
Tuesday, October 8 in a Houston, Texas, hospital, where he was a patient
for the past four weeks. A veteran of World War 1, a minister and farmer,
he had lived near Westville in the Addielee community for 18 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel of the home; two sons, Troy of Catoosa
and Harley of Lincoln Ark.; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian TINDALL, Spring
Valley, Calif., Mrs. Norma Ruth WATSON, Siloam Springs, Ark., Mrs. Virginia
RISLEY, Lincoln, Ark.; 15 grandchildren and five sisters.
Interment was in te Blackburn Cemetery under the direction of the Nelson-Savage
Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Ark.

Funeral service for Juston William SCISM, 51, Fort Worth, Texas, who died
Saturday, October 19, was held Wednesday in the Petering Funeral Home in
Muskogee.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, four sisters and four brothers,
including James SCISM of Westville, and his father George SCISM of Tulsa.
Interment was in the Park Hill Cemetery near Tahlequah.
WALTERS
Funeral service for Dave WALTERS, 89, Blackwell, was held October 10 in the
Assembly of God Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Cecil THOMAS officiating.
Mr. WALTERS died at his home in Blackwell on October 8, after a long illness.
Born in Coyville (i.e.), Kansas, October 8, 1879, he was a former Westville
resident. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Parzetta and five daughters, Mrs. Walter BARNETT,
Mrs. C.E. LOCKHART, Mrs. Thomas BRADFORD and Mrs. Earl ROBINSON, all of Blackwell
and Mrs. Bill DEESE of Sacramento, Calif.; two sons, Jesse WALTERS, Westville
and Billy WALTERS, Humbolt, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren
and a brother, Chriss WALTERS, Stilwell.
Pallbearers were James BRADFORD, Cleo BRADFORD, Jack BRADFORD, Floyd COX,
Alton HALLMARK and Millard KELLY.
Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Blackwell, under the direction of

Dolorita PASLEY MAY, 75, resident of Hobbs, N. Mex., and former resident
of Siloam Springs died Sunday, October 20 in a Hobbs hospital. She was born
April 1, 1888 in Washington Co., Ark., and had been a long time resident
of this area.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Geroge MOONEY, Hobbs; two brothers,
J.R. PASLEY, Dallas, Texas, R.H. PASLEY, Summers, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs.
J.L. HARRIS, Weatherford, Texas, Mrs. A.A. LASSISTER, Beaumont, Texas, Mrs.
J.F. NEEDHAM, Texarkana, Texas, and two grandchildren. Her husband preceded
her in death, March 4, 1953.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 23 in the Cincinnati
Methodist Church. Interment was in the Union Cemetery at Cincinnati under
the direction of the Pyeatte Funeral Service.
WEST
Funeral service for Thomas Andrew WEST, 79, was held Friday in the Proctor
Community Church with Rev. Herman ISAACS officiating with music provided
by the Bud LACIE family.
Mr. WEST was born May 9, 1884 in Camdon County, Mo., the son of James and
Marjorie WEST, and died Tuesday in a Vinita hospital.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lilly WEST, Proctor, Mrs. Ellen JOHNSON,
Fort Gibson and Mrs. Norma GREY, Lowell, Ark.; one son, Jim WEST, Lowell,
Ark.; and a stepson, Wattie WHALER, Proctor.

WATERS
Funeral service for Mrs. Charles (Maude) WATERS, 80, was held Tuesday afternoon
in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Billy Joe POOL, Pastor of the Bible
Baptist church of Ottumwa, Iowa. Rev. POOL is the grandson of Mrs. WATERS.
Mrs. WATERS died Friday morning, November 1 at her home following a long
illness. She was born October 6, 1883 the daughter of Matthew and Barbara
PALONE CONDREAY in Indian Territory, near Old Baptist Mission, and had lived
all of her life in Westville and community.
Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, Mrs. Harold Ray HART, Oscar SMITH and Fred ALLISON
sang, "Close to Thee" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee," accompanied by
Mrs. Grover HOWARD. She also accompanied Rev. POOL who sang, "Will the Circle
be Unbroken."
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.
Pallbearers were Owen BUFFINGTON, Luther SIMMONS, Jeff CARTER, Son JONES,
Bill TULLIS and Regan RATLIFF. Flower bearers were Mrs. Luther WADLEY, Mrs.

Funeral service for Mrs. Berttha N. WILHITE, 77, was held Sunday in the Roberts
Chapel with Rev. Clayton WALTERS officiating and music provided by Mrs. Paul

Mrs. WILHITE was born November 23, 1885 in Cane Hill, Ark., the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. LOFLIN and died in her home in Westville Friday, following
an extended illness.
Pallbearers were Luther Simmons, Ragan RATLIFF, E.H. CABE, Owen BUFFINGTON,
Calvin PHILLIPS, and Cecil COLLEGE. Flower bearers were Mrs. Luther SIMMONS,
Mrs. Ragan RATLIFF, Mrs. E.H. CABE, Mrs. Owen BUFFINGTON and Mrs. Calvin
PHILLIPS.
She is survived by three daughters. Mrs. Margaret HIX and Mrs. Bernice HICKMAN,
Inglewood, Calif., and Mrs. Noreen GITHENA, Ft. Smith, Ark.; one son, Dyke
WILLIAMS, Quincy, Ill,; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lois WASHINGTON, Ft. Smith,
Ark., Miss Ruth WILLIAMS, Los Angeles, Calif.; one step-son, Ralph WILLIAMS,
Flint, Michigan.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of the Roberts

DUKE
Mrs. Fannie DUKE, 101, formerly of Tulsa, but for the past 11 years has lived
in the home of her longtime frineds, Mr. and Mrs. W.T. MAUPINS northwest
of Westville, died Sunday in a Stilwell Nursing Home.
Graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rose Hill Cemetery,
Tulsa.
Mrs. DUKE, who would have been 102, November 21, was born at Pleasant Hill,
Georgia, the daughter of a large plantation owner. She was a graduate of
the Woman's College, Macon, Georgia. During her later years, she enjoyed
reminiscing, relating many interesting incidents of the earlier years of
her life especially in her native state.
Mrs. DUKE had been a semi-invalid since the birth of her first child when
she was 20, but never complained of her condition, according to her
friends.
She was the widow of J.W. DUKE. The last remaining son of her four children,
Lee DUKE of Tulsa died in 1947.
COLEMAN
Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Tom COLEMAN were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Devoe WHITELY of Springdale, Ark.,
officiating.
Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL, Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, Rev. Joe BLANTON, and Fred ALLISON
accompanied by Mrs. Duke CARLTON at the organ and Mrs. Grover HOWARD at the
piano, sang, "When the Saints go Marching In" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Mr. and Mrs. COLEMAN were killed in a traffic accident, November 5, near
Needles, Calif., when their car went out of control as they were returning
home from a visit with relatives in California.
Mr. COLEMAN was born September 26, 1896 at Guthrie, Okla. [O.T.], the son
of George ad Mary COLEMAN.
Mrs. COLEMAN was born January 15, 1901 at Argo, Okla. [O.T.], the daughter
of Walter and Katie HORSCHER.
On October 23, 1926 they were married in Chandler, Okla., and immediately
established their home at Avery, Okla., where their three children were
born.
They moved to Westville February 14, 1939, where they resided on their farm
south of Westville.
They were active members of the First Baptist church in Westville. Mr. COLEMAN
was a member of the board of Deacons and teacher of the Men's Bible class
in Sunday school.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home.

Karen Sue, who died in Tulsa, Sunday, is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs.

CARNEY
Annie Jennie LOVRIEN was born near Bloomfield, Iowa, August 27, 1874. Her
parents were Andrew Jackson LOVRIEN and Nancy PALMER LOVRIEN. Most of her
early life was spent in eastern Colorado, where she met her first husband,
William G. WHITE of Kansas. They were married July 16, 1899 in Pueblo, Colo.
Three children were born to this union; Arthur, who died January 23, 1930,
Harold and Nancy now Mrs. Titus CHINN.
Mr. WHITE died at Watts, Okla., July 3, 1931. Mrs. WHITE later married John
E. CARNEY, October 24, 1937 at Watts. Mr. CARNEY died in Watts September
27, 1948.
She is survived by one half brother, John THOMAS, Happy Camp, Calif.; one
son Mr. WHITE of Stilwell, Okla.; one daughter Mrs. Titus CHINN of Siloam
Springs; one step son, John H. CARNEY, McPherson, Kansas; nine grandchildren
and ten great grandchildren. The grandchildren include Bill, John and Larry
WHITE of Stilwell, Joe WHITE of Lamar, Colo., and Jerry WHITE of Fort Polk,
La., Nancy (Mrs. Charles) LOCK of Siloam Springs, Carol CHINN of Tulsa, Mary
Jane (Mrs. Jerry) HARROD of Houston and Alvin CHINN of Russellville, Ark.
Mrs. CARNEY died November 7 and was buried in Bell Cemetery, Saturday mornig
after the services in the Watts Methodist church. Rev. L.A. PETERS conducted
the services, assisted by Rev. Lee WHEELER, pastor of the Pentecostal Holiness
church of Stilwell. W.F. (Buddy) MCCLESKY of Siloam was soloist and a special
number was brought a quartet of young people of the Watts church. These young
people were former members of a Sunday School class taught by Mrs. CARNEY.
Her five grandsons and grandson-in-law, were pallbearers: Bill, Joe, Joh,
and Jerry WHITE, Alvin CHINN and Charles LOCK.

Funeral service for Judy Diane BURROWS, 13 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Roland BURROWS, was held Monday in the Roberts Chapel, with Rev. Luther NELSON
pastor of the First Baptist church in Stilwell, officiating.
Judy was born March 30, 1950, and died Wednesday in a Stilwell hospital.
She is survived by her parents, one sister, Ruth Ann; four brothers, Thomas,
Charles, Earl and Ralph, all of the home; and a nephew, Rollie Dean
BURROWS.

MURRIE
Funeral service for Grandville MURRIE, 83, resident of Canyon City, Colo.,
was held Tuesday in Canyon City.
Mr. MURRIE died Sunday in a Canyon City hospital. He was born March 14, 1880,
in Cincinnati, Ark., and lived in the vicinity of Westville until 1937, when
he moved to Canyon City.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. J.A. (Avis) BUTLER and Mrs. Marion
(Pearl) HOWARD of Westville and Mrs. Cecil (Juanita) HODSON, Canyon city;
two sons, Amos MURRIE, Westville, and Ruben MURRIE, with the U. S. air Force;
one sister, Mrs. E.H. WILSON, Cincinnati, Ark.; three brothers, Wesley MURRIE,
Vinita; Albert MURRIE, los Angeles, Calif., ruben MURRIE, of Westville; and
13 grandchildren.
Interment was in the Canyon City Cemetery.

Funeral service for Wosker R. ROSS, 67 year old resident of Watts, was held
Sunday, 2:00 p.m. in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Howard DANIELS
and the Rev. Ted TURNER, of Watts, officiating. The LACIE family, accompanied
by Mrs. Hazel LADD, provided the music.
ROSS was born May 29, 1896 in Dallas, Texas, and died Thursday in the Beterans
Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark.
In 1900 he oved with his parents to Oklahoma and was a resident of the
Westville-Watts vicinity for the past 63 years.
He was a veteran of World War 1, having served four years with the U.S.
Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Lee; six sons, J.W. of Houston, Texas,
Jerry of Eugene, Oregon, Sheridan of Linden, Texas, Darrel of Corvallis,
Oregon, Dale and Eugene of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Zella HIPLEY, Odessa,
Texas, Mrs. Willodene HCAKNEYof San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Madeline FAIN of Tulsa,
Mrs. JoAnn MULLIN of Shawnee, Kansas, and Mrs. Caroline YOUNGER of Eugene,
Oregon; 24 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

EDDS
Funeral service for Earl Glenn EDDS, 52, was held Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. in Roberts
Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clayton WALTERS, pastor of the Methodist church,
officiating.
Mrs. Harold Ray HART, accompanied by Mrs. Robert EFFENBERGER, sang "Beyond
the Sunset," and "The End of the Road."
Mr. EDDS who died suddenly Friday at his home, of a heart attack, was born
November 11, 1911 in Josplin, Missouri.
He and Miss Mary Ann HEISLER were married December 29, 1941 in Chula Vista,
Calif., It was there that they established their home and lived until they
came to Westville in the summer of 1948.
Mr. EDDS immediately went into the broiler business and was one of the largest
chicken producers in this area at the time of his death.
He was president of the Westville Community Improvement Club; vice president
of the Westville Medical Center, Board of Trustees; was a past commander
Harley-Barnard Post, American Legion, was a member of the Methodist church;
the Westville Lodge No. 186, A.F. & A.M. and Eastern Star and Adair County
Draft Board. He was one of the Cub Scout organizers in Westville.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery with Masonic Rites under the direction
of the Roberts Fueral Hoe.
Pallbearers were Haskell PICKETT and Sam WILLIS, Tahlequah; Joe DOBBINS,
Stilwell; Bill FAIN, Bill TULLIS and Joy Lee POYNOR. Flower bearers were
Mrs. Phllips HINES, Mrs. Joe DOBBINS, Mrs. Susie HAGEN, Mrs. Phyllis Ann

Mr. MORRIS was born December 22, 1905 in Westville and died Saturday in a
Siloam Springs, Ark., hospital.

LANGLEY
Funeral service for Mrs. Clarence (Nancy) LANGLEY, 60, who died November
21, after a week's illness in the Pryor hospital, following a heart attaack,
was conducted Sunday in the First Baptist church in Pryor. Burial was in
the Pryor City Cemetery.
Mrs. LANGLEY, a native of Tennessee, had been a teacher in the Pryor School
system for a number of years. At the time of her death she was teaching the
third grade. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pryor and the
Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence, of the home; a daughter, Jeannie,
of Texas; and a son, Joe Mack LANGLEY of Wisconsin; five grandchildren and
a number of brothers and sisters.
Mr. LANGLEY is a nephew of Joe H. LANGLEY and Mrs. Alice SIMPSON of Westville
and the late W.F. LANGLEY.

Barbara Jean was born September 16, 1958 in Siloam Springs, Ark., and died
Friday in Siloam hospital.
She is survived by her parents, five brothers, Bobby, Roger, Larry, Darrell
and Johnny; one sister, Wilma, all of the home; and grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Francis CLINTON of Stilwell and Mrs. Hattie VANBIBBER.

MCCLELLAN
Funeral service for Mrs. Harry (Henry Irwin) MCCLELLAN, 79, was held Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Presbyterian church with the Rev. Lewis BURNS
officiating.
Mrs. MCCLELLAN was born November 7, 1884 at Clyde (just south of Cane Hill)
the daughter of pioneer parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie IRWIN and here and
at Cane Hill she lived her entire life. She was a member of the Presbyterian
church at Cane Hill.
Turly to the manner born, she was a gentle lady of the old South, a gracious
hostess. Many guests were entertained in the MCCLELLAN ancestral home at
Cane Hill where she and Mr. MCCLELLAN with their son, Charles Getty MCCLELLAN,
lived. Mr. MCCLELLAN preceded her in death several years ago.
She is survived by her son of Cane Hill; two grandchildren, a niece and several
nephews.
Burial was in the McClellan Cemetery.

Mrs. KINDLE, who died Friday in Tahlequah, was born March 27, 1893 in Strickler,

MEEH
Funeral service for Charles Edward MEEH, 68 year old resident of Heavener,
was held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the Presbyterian church in Heavener.
Mr. MEEH, a former Westville resident, was a retired Kansas City Southern
railway engineer, and had lived in Heavener since 1922. He was a veteran
of World War 1, a member of the American Legion and the Brotherhood of Locomotive
Engineers.
He is survived by his wife, Sannie, of the home; six sons, including Dan
MEEH of Westville; three daughters, a brother, George MEEH and a sister,
Mrs. Nelle PIERCE, both of Heavener; and 19 grandchildren.
Burial was in the Hill Cemetery in Heavener.
MULLIN
Funeral service for Jim M. MULLIN, 84, was held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the
Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. George GUTHRIE officiating. The LACIE family,

Mr. BIBY, who was born March 4, 1883 in Summers, the son of Dave and Lou
WILSON BIBY, died Thursday. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Cincinnati
Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include one son, Clint of Summers; three sisters, Mary WALKER,
Callie PAYTON and Dula OXFORD, all of Tulsa.
Burial was in the Union Cemetery with graveside Masonic services.

HAMMOND
Funeral service for Graves HAMMOND, 59, was held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the
Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eugene BIBY officiating. Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL
and Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, accompanied by Mrs Joel BLANTON, provided the
music.
Mr. HAMMOND was born May 2, 1904 in Milburn and died Saturday in the Stilwell
hospital.
Pallbearers were Ben PERKINS, Leo BEARD, Charles DEWART, Buford HAMMOND,
Bill MOSS and Carl ISHMAEL. Flowerbearers were Yvonne OXFORD, Faye PILCHER,
Ruth PILCHER, Fern PERKINS, Delena PERKINS and Laura DODD.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie; a son, Eddie Michael and a daughter, Linda
Kay, all of the home; two other daughters, Mrs. Betty Jean FOSTER, Jacksonville,
Fla., and Mrs. Joyce FEATHERREE of Bunch; two brothers, Sihon Thomas HAMMOND,
of Childress, Texas, and Dalton HAMMOND of Ada; one sister, Mrs. Nora GOOD
of Hollis; and 8 grandchildren.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of the Roberts
Funeral Home.
BASSHAM
Funeral service for Elmer Leonard BASSHAM, 81, of Prairie Grove, Ark., was
held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the First Christian church in Prairie Grove.
Mr. BASSHAM, who died Sunday, was a brother of Mrs. Amos ROLLER of Westville.
He was injured last May when he was trapped for five hours under his farm
tractor. Suffering from deep shock, a fractured hip, broken hand and internal
injuries, he never recovered.
He is survived by his wife, Mattie Oldham of the home (i.e.); one son, Frank
of Hulbert; a daughter, Mrs. A.C. PURSELY, Prairie Grove; four sisters, Mrs.
Rose BENTON, Stilwell, Mrs. Lois SMITH of Lincoln, Ark., Mrs. Ona BIRCHFIELD,
Bartlesville, and Mrs. Roller.
Interment was in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.

BRANCHCOMB
Funeral service for Mrs. Florence BRANCHCOMB, 85, was held Saturday at 2
p.m. in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Clayton WALTERS officiating.
Mrs. George MURRAY and Mrs. Bert BLEDSOE, accompanied by Mrs. Duke CARLTON,
sang "Beyond the Sunset," and "Never Grow Old."
Mrs. BRANCHCOMB, who died Thursday in the Stilwell Hospital was born September
19, 1878 in Altus, Ark. She was a long time resident of Westville and a member
of the Methodist church.
Pallbearers were L.H. JONES, Joy Lee POYNOR, Luther SIMMONS and Gilbert PICKENS.
Flower bearers were Mrs. Ragan RATLIFF, Mrs. Clyde RATHER, Mrs. Luther SIMMONS
and Mrs. Gilbert PICKENS.
Survivors include two sons, Vester BRANCHCOMB of Jenks and Leverett BRANCHCOMB
of Anderson, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Bessie NORWOOD of Muskogee.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of the Roberts
Funeral Home.
HARRIS
A.E. HARRIS, Tahlequah trucker, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon of an apparent
heart attack while unloading grain from a Kansas City Southern railroad box
car, near the Farmers Cooperative Association building.
A Roberts ambulance was dispatched to the scene taking him to the Westville
Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival.
The body was later removed to the Reed-Culver Funeral Home in Tahlequah where
arrangements are pending.
PHARR
Funeral service for Mrs. Mary PHARR, 93, of Tahlequah, was held Wednesday
at 2 p.m. in the Reed-Culver Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Joe HARDEGREE,
pastor of the Tahlequah First Christian church officiating.
Mrs. PHARR, who died Sunday at her home, following a long illness, was the
mother of the late J.R. GRAVES, and having visited in the Graves home frequently,
had many friends in Westville.
She moved to Tahlequah from Arkansas in 1919 and was a member of the First
Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were W.O. BYRD, Jack ABBOTT, J.R. GRAVES Jr., Lee STEED, Bill
JOHNSON and Art TOWERY. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. D.R. BEDWELL, George
OGLE and O.E. CRANE.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ethel STEED of the home and Mrs. Elsie
HUMAN of Muskogee; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and six great
great grandchildren.
Interment was in the Tahlequah City Cemetery.
WILLIAMS
Funeral service for Roy Clifton WILLIAMS, 45, was held Saturday in the Roberts
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arthur ESSARY and Rev. George GUTHRIE officiating.
The Wrights Chapel Choir, accompanied by Miss Carolyn STEPHENS, sang "I'll
Meet You in the Morning," "I'll Not Be a Stranger" and "Nationalized for
Heaven."
Mr. WILLIAMS was born July 30, 1918 in Christie and died Wednesday. He was
a member of the Wrights Chapel Free Holiness Church.
Pallbearers were Carl CHOATE, Wayne FADDIS, Neal TATUM, Leslie FADDIS, Nookie
SANDERS and Walter KINDLE. Flower bearers were Mrs. Carl CHOATE, Mrs. Ida
GOODMAN, Mrs. Junior CHOATE, Mrs. Grace FADDIS, Mrs. Bob CHOATE and Mrs.
Walter KINDLE.
Survivors include his wife and four daughters Nancy, Judy and Kathy, all
of the home and Mrs. Oma Leta SMITH of Fayetteville, Ark., two sons, Carl
of Kansas City, Mo., and Donald of the home; one brother, Grady WILLIAMS
of Stilwell; one sister, Mrs. Delma HADDOCK of Watts, and six
grandchildren.
Burial was in the Piney Cemetery under the direction of the Roberts Funeral
Home.

GIFFORD
Funeral service for Jesse G. GIFFORD, 64, was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the
Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Haden COLVIN officiating. Music was provided
by the LACIE family.
Mr. GIFFORD was born November 9, 1899 in Westville, [Indian Territory], the
son of Charles and Hattie GIFFORD, and died Saturday in Muskogee.
Pallbearers were Jess GIFFORD, Lloyd GIFFORD, Claude JORDAN, Roy BLACK, Tommie
MAUPIN and Calvin PHILLIPS.
Survivors include two sons; Johnnie Guy GIFFORD of Pryor; Billy Doyle GIFFORD;
one daughter, Norma Jean GIFFORD; two brothers, Hugh and Evert GIFFORD and
three sisters, Ethel CARRISH, Anna ERICKSON and Kay EDGMON.
Burial was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of the Roberts Funeral
Home.
