WAITS
Funeral service for Mrs. Dovie Mae COPELAND WAITS, 57, was held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the First Baptist Church at Summers, Ark., with the pastor officiating.
Mrs. WAITS died Friday in a Tulsa hospital following a five weeks illness. Burial was in the Ganderville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alfred ELM, Virgil CUSHING, Kenneth and Frank LOCKHART, Dee and Jack SMITH.
Mrs. WAITS was a member of the Free Holiness Church.
Survivors are her husband, C.M. WAITS, Tulsa; nine children, Mrs. Maybell SAMUELSON, Siloam Springs, Ark., Mrs. Violet JONES, Lincoln, Ark., Roy COPELAND, Jerry COPELAND, John COPELAND, Joe COPELAND, Gilbert COPELAND and Homer COPELAND of Lincoln, Ark., and an uncle Frank GRAY of Westville. (Only eight children were named.)

FLUCARD
Funeral service for Mrs. Ella FLUCARD was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Roberts Chapel with Rev. H.R. IGO officiating. A trio composed of Mrs. Hazel LADD, Mrs. Bert SHEPPARD and Mrs. H.R. IGO sang three sons, "An Empty Mansion," "Precious Memories" and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus."
Mrs. FLUCARD was born October 24, 1879 in Butler County, Penn., the daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth BARTLEY, and died December 31 in a Dallas, Texas, hospital. She was visiting in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Earl PATTON in Dallas at the time of her death.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Earl PATTON, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. O.A. MARKAM, Oklahoma City; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie LAWLRY of Calif., 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were S.F. FARMER, George URICH, Bert SHEPPARD, Robert LADD, Bert JORDAN and Earl HALL. Flower bearers were Mrs. George URICH, Mrs. A.S. NICKELL, Mrs. Bert SHEPPARD, Mrs. Ward WEBB and Mrs. Ella ROGERS.
Interment was in Westville Cemetery under the direction of the Roberts Funeral Home.

CALLISON
Howard E. CALLISON of Reedly, Calif., 55, former resident of Wrights Chapel Community and Westville died Thursday, December 28, in the Sanitorium at Springfield, Calif., after a long illness.
Mr. CALLISON, following the death of his wife ten years ago, moved to California.
His daughter Ellen has made her home during these years with Mr. and Mrs. J.C. LYTTON of Wrights Chapel Community. He was a member of the Westville Masonic Lodge.
Burial was in the Exeter, California cemetery.
Among the survivors other than his daughter, Ellen of Wrights Chapel is a son, Howard E. CALLISON, Jr., of Dinuba, Calif.
Ellen returned to Westville this week after attending the funeral of her father.

POFF
Funeral service for Leon N. POFF, 49, was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James CROSS, pastor of the Pentecostal Holiness church of Westville and the Rev. Burr WIGGINS officiating. Accompanied by Mrs. Al HEMBREE, Mr. and Mrs. Walter CARLTON, Mrs. James CROSS, Mrs. Wayne LYONS and Rev. Burr WIGGINS sang, "Where the Roses Never Fade," "Precious Memories" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord."
Mr. POFF was born April 8, 1912 at Bearden, Okla., the son of John and Anna POFF and died January 11, 1962, at Oklahoma City.
Interment was in the Tahlequah Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Duke CARLTON, George COMBS, Bobby SMITH, Charles BROOKS, Bill ALLISON, Regan RATLIFF. Flower bearers were Mrs. Floyd WATERS, Mrs. Charley SMITH, Mrs. Duke CARLTON, Mrs. M.B. TRAW.
Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Anna POFF, Westville; one son, Donald Eugene POFF of Virginia; one brother, Elmo C. POFF, Wichita, Kansas; four sister, Mrs. Jack LOCKHART, Westville, Mrs. Walter YODER, Pryor, Mrs. Clifford CHAPMAN, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Elmer SANDERS, Bakersfield, Calif.

JONES
Funeral service was held on Tuesday afternoon in the Roberts Funeral Home Chapel for Benjamin Frank JONES, 86, with Rev. Bud LACIE officiating. Music was furnished by the LACIE family and Mr. and Mrs. Archie CAGLE.
Mr. JONES was born December 14, 1875, at Harrison, Ark. Other information concerning his early life is unknown. In later years, he lived for some time in the Summer, Ark., area before moving to Oklahoma. In 1948 he moved to Westville, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Westville.
Nothing is known of his relatives. His last contact with any of them was over 30 years ago. He died January 14, 1962, in his room on the Charlie CAGLE property, where he had lived for the past 12 years. He had been in poor health for some time.
Pallbearers were Oscar SMITH, Elbert SHEFFIELD, Marvin CAGLE, Don CAGLE, Dee SMITH and Floyd MORRIS. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. J.R. GRAVES, Charlie COMSTOCK, Fred PALONE, Haden COLVIN, A.S. NICKELL, O.B. VEAZEY.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

TUTTLE
Funeral service for Sidney Ann Burnett TUTTLE, 86, was held Wednesday, 2 p.m. in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. George GOODMAN of Westville officiating and the Rev. P. WRIGHT of Watts.
Mrs. TUTTLE died Monday, January 22 at her home near Westville. She was born January 26, 1875 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, and married Adam TUTTLE in 1895. She was a member of the Baptist Church, which she joined at an early age.
Interment was in the Bell Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Willie WILLIS, Joe BURNS, Charlie BUNNELL, Ernest MCGUIRE, Vernon NICHOLS and Dwayne FISHER.
Survivors are her husband, Adam, of the home; three sons, Bradley of Oakland, Calif., Pernon of Westville and Chris of Dewey; five daughters, Maud ABNER of the home, Flora KING, Farmington, Ark., Nora WOLFENBARGER of Brentwood, Calif., Dora WOLFENBARGER, Antioch, Calif., and Delora SMITH, Enid; a sister, Mary MCILQUAHAM (i.e.), of Cumberland, Ky.; 22 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

LANGLEY
Funeral service for James C. LANGLEY, Jr., 19 of Tulsa, who was killed Friday, January 19 in a three car accident near Wagoner, was held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Trinity Baptist church in Tulsa.
He was born in Fort Smith, Ark., the son of Mr. and Mrs. James C. LANGLEY, Sr.
At the time of his death he was a student at Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, majoring in business. In 1959, he was graduated from Webster High School in Tulsa and attended Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, a year. During the summer vacations and weekends, he was employed by Hanna Lumber Co.
Interment was in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Tulsa.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. LANGLEY, Sr.; two sisters, Eula Lee and Lisa, all of the home, 242 E. 45th Court, Tulsa; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. LANGLEY, of Westville; Mrs. J.W. CASPER, Tulsa, and H.O. LOFTIN, Alma, Ark.
Mr. and Mrs. J.B. LANGLEY and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest CABE attended the funeral service.

February 2, 1962

ALBERTY
Funeral service for Mrs. Sam (Ruth) ALBERTY, prominent citizen of Stilwell, was held Wednesday afternoon in Roberts Funeral Chapel at Stilwell, with Rev. Joe HAZLETT, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating.
Mrs. ALBERTY who had been ill for several months, died Monday afternoon.
She was employed in Adair County Clerks office for years and was admired and loved by everyone for her courteous and gracious manner.
Interment was in New Hope Cemetery at Stilwell.

GRAHAM
Funeral rite for Ben A. GRAHAM, 83, were held Tuesday afternoon, January 30 at 1:00 o'clock in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. SHORTRIDGE and the Rev. Edwin BEEM of Siloam Springs, Ark., officiating. The Rev. and Mrs. Herman PADEN of Gentry, Ark., accompanied by Mrs. Woodrow BOWLES sang, "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone," "No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus" and "Under His Wings."
Mr. GRAHAM was born August 14, 1878 in Palo, Mich., and died Saturday, January 27 in the Veterans Hospital at Fayetteville, Ark.
Interment was in the National Cemetery at Fayetteville, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Hardy COMSTOCK, Woodrow BOWLES, Tom BUSHONG, Carl FUSSELMAN, Leslie CARRINGTON and Clyde RATHER. Flower bearers were Mesdames Woodrow BOWLES, Hardy COMSTOCK, Lewis BARNARD and Clyde RATHER.
Survivors include his wife, Marie of the home; two sons, Mack GIBSON, Casper, Wyo., and Gordon GRAHAM, Santa Barbara, Calif.; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

GRAVES
Funeral service was conducted for Mrs. Elizabeth M. GRAVES at the Methodist church Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Clayton WALTERS, Rev. Raymond COOLEY and Rev. Howard KITCHEN officiating. Mrs. Charles BROOKS and Mrs. George MURRAY sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" and Mrs. Harold Ray HART sang, "An Evening Prayer" accompanied by Mrs. Lena CABE organist.
Mrs. GRAVES was born November 22, 1888 in Johnson County, Ark., the daughter of John and Mary ROBERTS. She was married to J.R. GRAVES in 1913.
Mrs. GRAVES died Monday morning, February 5, in the General Hospital at Fayetteville, at the age of 73. She was a member of the Methodist church and Order of Eastern Star.
Flower bearers were Mrs. Robert EFFENBERGER, Mrs. Claud SNIDER, Mrs. Roy TENNANT, Miss Gladys Scofield, Mrs. Ernest BUFFINGTON and Mrs. Vance GREEN. Active pallbearers were Harold Ray HART, Ernest BUFFINGTON, Bill GALBRAITH, Roy TENNANT, Vance GREEN, L.H. (Son) JONES. Honorary pallbearers were Rev. Luther NELSON, Allie GREENE, Rev. Bud LACIE, Clarence SHAKLEFORD, E.D. CARMICHAEL, George MURRAY, George GOODMAN, Leslie ALDERSON, Gilbert PICKENS, Ernest CABE, Vol WOODS, Duke CARLTON, Regan RATLIFF, Leslie CARRINGTON.
Survivors include the husband, Dr. J.R. GRAVES; one son, James R. GRAVES, Jr., of Oklahoma City; her mother, Mrs. Mary PHARR, Tahlequah; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel STEED, Tahlequah, Mrs. Elsie HUMAN, Muskogee and one granddaughter.
Interment was in Memorial Cemetery, Muskogee, under direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

GREGORY
Funeral service for Mrs. Molly P. GREGORY, 83, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Rhea, Ark., church with Rev. Walter PENNELL officiating assisted by Rev. James LOUDERMILK.
Mrs. GREGORY was born March 19, 1878, in East Tenn., and died Friday night in Springdale, Ark.
She is survived by two sons, Leslie of Westville and Herald GREGORY of Siloam Springs, Ark.; one daughter, Mrs. Ora MATLOCK of Dutch Mills, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Julia MARSHALL of Pryor, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Rhea Cemetery under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Lincoln, Ark.

HOWARD
Funeral services and burial for Morgan S. HOWARD, 49, son of Mrs. W.F. LANGLEY of Westville, was conducted in Houston, Monday, February 5,. Mr. HOWARD died suddenly February 1st at his home.
He was district manager of the Retail Motor Truck division of International Harvester Co., a position he had held for the past four years, having been with the company for 26 years. He having been located in Wichita, Kan., Denver, Colo., Lubbock, Amarillo, Sweetwater and Houston, Texas, during that time. HOWARD was reared in Rogers, Ark., and was graduated from Rogers High School. He was the son of the late Ellery B. HOWARD.
Survivors include his wife, Bernadine of the home; a son, Lt. Morgan S. HOWARD, with the Air Force of the Marines, stationed at Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Virginia Sue and Jerry Ann of the home; his mother, Mrs. W.F. LANGLEY of Westville; a sister, Mrs. W.W. MASTIN of Lee's Summit, Mo., and a granddaughter, Donna Cay HOWARD of Pensacola, Fla.
Mrs. LANGLEY and Mrs. MASTIN and son, Jim of Lee's Summit, Mo., attended the funeral.

February 16, 1962

ROGERS
Mr. and Mrs. J.V. PARKS have returned from Medicine Lodge, Kansas, where they were called by the serious illness and death of her father, Grant ROGERS.
Funeral service for Mr. ROGERS, 98, was held Thursday afternoon in the Methodist church at Isabel, Kan., with burial in the Isabel Cemetery.
Survivors other than Mrs. PARKS are two sons.

SHERRIN
Funeral service for Mrs. Minnie SHERRIN, 80, mother of W.J. SHERRIN of Westville, was held February 5 in the Broadway Church of Christ at Holdenville with burial in the Holdenville Cemetery.
Mrs. SHERRIN died February 4 in a Holdenville hospital, having suffered third degree burns in her home, while attempting to light a heater that exploded and ignited her clothing.
She was born in Arkansas, May 7, 1881, and moved to Holdenville in 1916 from Lorena, Texas.
Survivors other than her son. W.A. SHERRIN are four other sons, Ollie SHERRIN, Holdenville, O.C. SHERRIN, Atwood, S.R. SHERRIN, Stigler, V.D. SHERRIN, Brownsville, Texas; three daughters, Miss Minnie Mae ARTHUR, Heavener, Mrs. Ruby JETT of Holdenville, Mrs. Eva COFFEY, Cleveland; 38 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters.

SANDERS
Funeral service for Mrs. Nellie H. SANDERS, 77, was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in Proctor Community Church, with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Westville officiating.
Mrs. SANDERS was born November 1884, in Alabama, the daughter of Lou and Adrin WOODARD died Monday, February 12 in the Stilwell hospital. Interment was in the Proctor Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Survivors include five nieces, Mrs. Truman BROYLES, Alma, Ark., Mrs. Dessie THOMPSON, Fort Smith, Ark., Mrs. Virgil MEANS, Van Buren, Ark., Mrs. Cleon BOLING, Bentonville, Ark., and Mrs. John BIGELOW, Sacramento, Calif.

KETCHER
Funeral service for Lee M. KETCHER, 75, of Stilwell, a life long resident of Adair County, who died Thursday in a Tahlequah hospital, was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Luther Nelson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated.
Burial was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha, of the home; five children, Albert and Faye KETCHER of Stilwell; George and Dale KETCHER of New Haven, Conn., and Robert KETCHER of Tulsa; one sister, Betty KETCHER, of Corpus Christi, Texas; and nine grandchildren.

WHELCHEL
Funeral service for Mrs. Mary E. WITT WHELCHEL, 95, was held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Eugene BIBY, pastor of the First Baptist church at Watts. Mrs. Harold Ray HART, Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON and Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL, accompanied by Mrs. Grover HOWARD sang, "God Will Take Care of You" and "It Is Well with My Soul." Mrs. HART sang a solo, "Going Home."
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Grover HOWARD, Harold MOSS, J.F. DUDLEY, Mitchell Dean SHEFFIELD, Luther SIMMONS, Leslie CARRINGTON. Mrs. WHELCHEL, the oldest of 14 children, was born March 26, 1866 in a covered wagon just north of Paris, Texas, on the south banks of the Red River. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Felix WITT had moved from Evansville,Ark., during the War between the States, and it was on their return to the Indian Territory that Mrs. WHELCHEL was born.
On August 9, 1888 she and James H. WHELCHEL, a young man, who had come from Jasper, Georgia, to live with his brother and family near Evansville, Ark., were married in the home of her parents He preceded her in death in November, 1945.
Of Cherokee Indian descent, she was proud of her heritage and with a great deal of pride related many interesting incidents in the lives of her forebearers. Her maternal great grandfather, Michael GHORMLEY came from Georgia on the "Trail of Tears" serving as an interpreter to the Indians.
Survivors include two sons, Earl WHELCHEL of Westville and James WHELCHEL of Tulsa; five daughters, Mrs. Farris (Mary) CABE of Westville, Mrs. Fannie DREISBACK, Mrs. J.A. VOGEL, Muskogee, Mrs. Bertha MCCULLOUGH, New York City and Miss Ruby WHELCHEL, Dallas, Texas; ten grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Allie MCCOY, Modesto, Calif.; a brother, Dee WITT of Rocky Ford, Colo.

STALCUP
Funeral rites for Mrs. Myrtle Edna STALCUP, 83, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Edwin BEEM, pastor of the Christian church, officiating. Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL and Fred ALLISON, accompanied by Mrs. Grover HOWARD sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Shall We Gather at the River" and Mrs. Harold Ray HART sang, "In the Garden."
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Eber SMITH, Dennis MORRIS, Thomas BRIGHT, Bill SHARP, Clyde RATHER, Cecil PATTERSON. Flower bearers were Mrs. Art BLANTON, Mrs. Dennis MORRIS, Mrs. Marvin CAGLE, Mrs. Bill SHARP, Mrs. Clyde RATHER, Mrs. Bill CAMP.
Mrs. STALCUP was born October 21, 1878, at Prairie Grove, Ark., the daughter of Callie and W.B. LOFLIN, and died February 18. She, with her parents, moved to Westville in 1898 where her father was one of the early day blacksmiths.
In November, 1902 she and R.L. STALCUP, a young man, also from Westville, who was employed by the Frisco Railroad, were married at Cincinnati, Ark. They established their home in Missouri, but in a few years returned to Westville, where Mr. STALCUP owned and operated a meat market just west of where the Westville Fire Department is now located. Later he became an employee of the Kansas City Railway and they moved from Westville, returning in 1931 where they since resided.
Mrs. STALCUP was one of the early day telephone operators in Westville. She was a member of the Christian church.
Survivors include her husband, R.L. STALCUP; two sons, Milton STALCUP of Westville, J.W. (Bill) STALCUP of Fresno, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Pauline) SHUPERT, Grove; a sister, Mrs. Bertha WHILHITE, of Westville; a half sister, Mrs. Vera MURRAY, Winslow, Arizona,; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

FOLSOM
Funeral rites for Mrs. Effie FOLSOM, 82, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with T.J. TEEL of Stilwell, Church of Christ, officiating. Music was furnished by members of the Church of Christ of which she was a member.
Mrs. FOLSOM was born November 20, 1879, in Arkansas, the daughter of Will and Nancy BARRETT, and died Thursday, February 22 at her home in Westville, following a long illness.
Mr. FOLSOM preceded her in death several years ago.
Burial was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Marvin CAGLE, Oscar SMITH, C.E. PACE, Joy Lee POYNOR, Lee PICKENS, Hardy COMSTOCK. Flower bearers were Mrs. Lee PICKENS, Mrs. Carley PACE, Mrs. Kenneth SHERRIN, Mrs. Paul ROBERTS, Mrs. Vivian JONES and Miss Bertha BROWN.
Survivors were four daughters, Mrs. Syrena PACE, Westville, Mrs. Edna ELLIS, New Castle, Wyo., Mrs. Hattie FOREST, Rock Springs, Wyo., Mrs. Gertrude CHURCH, Powell, Wyo.; one son, Elmer FOLSOM, Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie WARWICK and Mrs. Emma OXFORD of Calif.; two brothers, George and Charley BARRETT of Calif.

LACIE
Funeral service for Mrs. Kate LACIE, 73, was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Willie PADGETT of Sallisaw officiating.
The Dolly O'NEAL Quartet sang "Empty Mansion," "I'm Bound for That Mansion," and "I've Been Waiting."
Mrs. LACIE, of Cherokee Indian descent, was born in the East Peavine community southeast of Westville, Indian Territory (now Okla.) November 1, 1888, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward WALKINGSTICK, and died Saturday, February 24 in the Stilwell hospital.
She and Walter LACIE, son of Adam and Jennie LACIE, were married January 9, 1906, in his home and moved just across the road from the original LACIE allotment, to establish their home, where their children were born, and where they have continued to live.
Interment was in the family cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were J.C. WALKINGSTICK, Jasper WALKINGSTICK, Clifford WALKINGSTICK, Edward WALKINGSTICK, J.H. BAGBY and Walter KINDLE. Flower bearers were Mrs. Faye JOHNSON, Mrs. Hazel CARMICHAEL, Mrs. Betty SELF, Mrs. Margaret BAGBY, Mrs. Elizabeth ROSS, Mrs. Ova STALCUP.
Survivors include her husband Walter LACIE; a son, Bud LACIE, Westville; two daughters, Mrs. Eulalia PILGRIM, Westville, Mrs. Juanita MAYS, Wendell, Calif.; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

PIERCE
Funeral service for Richard PIERCE, 95, was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Chapel, with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating.
Mrs. Harold Ray HART and Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, accompanied by Miss Margaret CARMICHAEL sang, "Rock of Ages," "Near to the Heart of God" and "It is Well with My Soul."
Mr. PIERCE was born March 29, 1866, near Westville, Indian Territory, the son of John and Sarah CRITTENDEN PIERCE, and died Monday, February 26, at the Russell Nursing Home.
Interment was in the Foreman Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Owen BUFFINGTON, Neal MARKHAM, Luther SIMMONS, Oscar SMITH, Clyde RATHER, Elbert SHEFFIELD. Flower bearers were Mrs. Nora SINGLETON, Mrs. Edith HILLARD, Mrs. Bessie CAGLE, Mrs. Clint NEELEY, Mrs. Kate HADDOCK.
Mr. PIERCE's father came from England to the United States, later to Arkansas where he first lived near Summers. Richard PIERCE attended Sunday School and church at the Old Baptist Mission and it was at Sunday School that he met Miss Nannie Bell PARRIS of Cherokee Indian descent, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malachi (Wade) PARRIS, who lived near the Mission.
They were soon married and took up a claim near his father's farm, and built a log cabin, later buying a farm northeast of Westville and it was here that their children were born. Mrs. PIERCE died September 18, 1904. He and the children then moved back to his old home place, with his mother, his father having died a short time before.
He was in the district clerk's office at the Old Cherokee Capital in Tahlequah, Indian Territory for six years, also served as guard at the Cherokee Capital for a number of years.
His children all received allotments by virtue of Cherokee Indian blood from their mother. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

BOST
Mrs. Callie BOST, 87, mother of W.C. BOST of Westville, died Thursday morning at 9:30, following a long illness at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. George BOND, in Searcy, Ark.
The body will be returned to Westville for burial in the Westville Cemetery, under direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Lincoln, Ark.
Funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at the First Baptist Church.

COLVIN
Funeral service for Mrs. Georgia COLVIN, 74, was held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bud LACIE, assisted by Rev. Leon CORNTASSEL officiating. Members of the LACIE family, accompanied by Mrs. Leora WHITECROW, sang "Never Grow Old," "Peace in the Valley," "Precious Mmemories."
Mrs. COLVIN was born February 3, 1888 in Salem, Missouri, and died February 27 in the home of her son, Vincent COLVIN, at Mineola, Texas, where she had been for a year. She had been a resident of the Addielee community for many years.
Her husband, Charley COLVIN, preceded her in death April 2, 1947. Mrs. COLVIN had been a member of the Full Gospel church for 44 years.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Luther SIMMONS, Earl RAINS, Neil AKIN, Elbert SHEFFIELD, Faye COLVIN, and Gean SHEPHERD. Flower bearers were Mrs. W.W. ALBERTY, Mrs. Charley CAGLE, Mrs. Esta BROUGHTON, Mrs. Lois SHEPHERD, Mrs. Peggy STEPHENS.
Survivors include two sons, Vincent COLVIN, Mineola, Texas, Lawrence COLVIN, Coolidge, Arizona; one brother, Tola BOUQUET, Westville; one sister, Mrs. Martha BUTTERWORTH, Springfield, Ore.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

RATHER
Funeral service for Thomas L. RATHER, 58, who died March 1, in South San Francisco, Calif., was held Saturday, March 3, at Larson Funeral Parlor there with burial in San Francisco.
He was born at Evansville, Ark., September, 1903, the son of the late Thomas H. RATHER and Lillie BUSKIRK RATHER. In 1925 he was married to Anna Mae PARKS at Westville.
Survivors are his wife; four sons, Jim of Chester, Calif., Ralph of San Bruno, Calif., Richard of Salina, Kan., and Jack of Buena Park, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph BONNICE of Milbrae, Calif., and eight grandchildren. Surviving also are 5 brothers, Ivan of San Leandro, Calif., Ed of Huntington Park, Calif., Ray of Tulsa, Clyde of Westville and Clark of Norco, Calif.; four sisters, Ella FLETCHER of Grandview, Wash., Naomi MARTIN of Palm Springs, Calif., Farol HAYS of Long Beach, Calif., and Marie RATLIFF of Westville. One brother, Bill died in 1952.

Funeral service for Mrs. Mattie CAMPBELL of Christie, 76, was held Monday, March 12, at 2 p.m. with the Eldon Baptist church with the Rev. Max SQUIRES, pastor, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Claud STEPHENSON and Grace STEPHENSON sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "Precious Memories," and "Where We Never Grow Old," with Mrs. John ROBISON accompanying.
Mrs. CAMPBELL was born June 5, 1885, Summerville, Mo., and died March 8 in the Tahlequah hospital. Burial was in the Shirley Cemetery at Eldon.
Pallbearers were Ross KAY, Richard MCLEMORE, Garland ROBINSON, Bert HENSLEY, Brodie SHARP, Mr. PRESLEY.
Survivors are two sons, Hurshell CAMPBELL of Christie, Jerome CAMPBELL, Eldon; a grandson, Bob CAMPBELL of Chrisite, whom she reared.

FRUIT
Funeral service for Mrs. Ida FRUIT, 62, was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the New Hope Baptist Church, with Elder E.T. ODLE officiating. Music was furnished by the New Hope choir.
Mrs. FRUIT was born January 1, 1900 near Watts and died Sunday afternoon in the Stilwell hospital. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
She had lived with her brother Dave CRAWFORD near Westville, since the death of her husband, Harry FRUIT, several years ago. She was a member of the Holiness church.
Survivors include two sons, Boyd and Loyd FRUIT; one daughter Mrs. Ruby MITCHELL of Calif.; one brother Dave CRAWFORD, several nieces and nephews.

SCRAPER
Funeral service for Mrs. Lena Christeen SCRAPER, 21, of Peoria, Ill,, was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Baron Community Church at Baron with the Rev. Bud LACIE officiating. Several Hymns were sung by members of the LACIE family accompanied by Mrs. Leora WHITECROW.
Mrs. SCRAPER was born May 3, 1940 at Baron, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clem HEUSTIS and died in a Chicago hospital, Thursday, March 8.
She and Jack SCRAPER were married June 5, 1956. To them were born three children, one son having preceded her in death. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Interment was in the Downing Cemetery at Baron under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers and flower bearers were childhood friends of Mrs. SCRAPER.
Survivors include her husband, Jack, a 3 year old son, Tommy, an 8 months old daughter, Joyce Gaily; her parents, Mr and Mrs. Clem HEUSTIS of Baron; six sisters and seven brothers. Mrs. Luther WADLEY of Westville is an aunt.

HUTSON
Maud E. HUTSON, 60, a resident of Route 2, Watts, died Friday, March 9, in Memorial hospital. She was born February 7, 1902 at Vernon, Texas, and had been a resident of the Watts area for the past 25 years, coming from Oklahoma City.
She is survived by her husband, George; three sons, Kenneth, of Kansas City, Mo., Forrest of Route 5, Siloam Springs, Ralph Eugene of the home; one daughter, Yvonne L. MULLINS, Rt. 5 , Siloam Springs; one niece, Miss Mary Carol HUTSON, of the home; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Heller HALEY of Calif., and Mrs Mary ACTON of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Funeral services for Mrs. HUTSON were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, at State Line Tabernacle with Rev. Howard DANIELS officiating. Burial was in the Bell Cemetery under the direction of the Wasson Funeral Service.

Funeral rites for Robert Ezra SMITH, 71, were held Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock in the Callison-Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale, Ark., with burial in Springtown, Ark., cemetery.
Mr SMITH, who had been a patient in the Springdale Memorial hospital for several weeks, died Tuesday morning. He was a retired employee of the Oklahoma Highway Department.
Survivors are his wife, Mattie of the home in Westville; one stepson, Paul SMITH of Lowell, Ark.; one step daughter, Mrs. Mary LASWELL, Gentry, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Cora BURGESS, Gentry.
Mrs. SMITH is a patient in the Springdale hospital.

KELLEY
Funeral rites for Charles C. KELLEY, 84, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with Brother T.J. TELL of the Stilwell Church of Christ officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Loren SHANKEL, J.V. PARTS, George SNYDER and Nettie Ruth MARTIN sang, "Face to Face," "Never Grow Old" and "Rock of Ages."
Mr. Kelley was born February 7, 1878, in Benton, Iowa, and died Friday, March 16.
Interment was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

LARGE
Funeral service for Henry L. LARGE, 66, was held Saturday, March 17 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist church of which he was an active member, with the pastor, Rev. Luther NELSON, officiating. Mrs. Grover HOWARD accomplanied Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL, Mrs. Harold Ray HART, and Fred ALLISON who sang, "Whispering Hope, " "Asleep in Jesus," and "Give Your Heart to the Master."
Mr. LARGE was born June 26, 1895 at Mulberry, Texas, son of Saphrona and Joel C. LARGE and died suddenly Wednesday, March 14, at his home near Westville.
He had been a member of the Baptist church since 1917, having served as Associational Missionary in Grayson County, Texas.
Following his return from World War 1, some of which was spent overseas, he and Miss Irene Fay SAVAGE of Dennison, Texas, were married October 3, 1920. They established their home on the LARGE farm until 1939. To them were born three sons, preceding Mr. LARGE in death.
Interment was in Westville Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

Funeral rites for Jess MORRIS, 69, life long citizen of Adair County were held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jim CROSS, pastor of the Pentecostal Holiness church officiating. Accompanied by Mrs. Leora WHITECROW, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie RIGGS of Tulsa, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter CARLTON of Westville sang, "Father Along," "Heaven Will Be Worth it All" and "What Will I Leave Behind."
Mr. MORRIS was born in 1892 near Stilwell, the son of Wilson and Polly MORRIS and died March 27 in the Stilwell hospital, following several months illness.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Curtis MORRIS, Lawrence MORRIS, Mitchell MORRIS, Vol EADS, John Henry MORRIS, Frankie MORRIS. Flower bearers were his nieces, Joyce MCDONALD, Francis MORRIS, Florine MORRIS, Deana MORRIS, Golda MORRIS and Nell OXFORD.
Survivors are his wife, Ella of the home; two daughters, Ella Mae and Jessie Faye MORRIS of Tulsa; one sister, Pearl MENSCH of Leavenworth, Kansas; one brother, Oce MORRIS, of Westville.
One sister, Annie and two brothers, Lee and John MORRIS preceded him in death.

BOWLES
Funeral service for Mrs. Molly Lavina BOWLES, 70, of Watts, who died Tuesday will be held this morning at 10:3 a.m. in the Methodist church at Watts, of which she was a member.
Burial will be in the Bell Cemetery near Siloam Springs.
Mrs. BOWLES was born in Siloam Springs and had lived in Fayetteville, Ark.
She is survived by two sons; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Word has been received by relatives in Westville of the death of Mrs. Anna SCHULTZ, 83, at the home of a daughter in San Rafael, Calif.
She was the sister of the late Mrs. J.L. HAYS and the late C.M. LARWOOD of Westville.
Mrs. SCHULTZ was known here, having visited relatives a number of times.

Funeral service for R.E. "Bob" COOPER, 64, Springdale, Ark., formerly of Westville was held Monday morning at 10:30 in St. Thomas Episcopal church in Springdale.
Interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, where a graveside service was held with military rites.
Mr. COOPER was born in Winchester, Tenn., and died Friday afternoon in Memorial hospital, Springdale, from a heart attack following surgery.
He was a member of the St. Thomas Episcopal church, of which he was one of the organizers of the church in Springdale and contributed much to the building of the church, recently constructed. A veteran of W.W. 1, he was a member of I.O.O.F., Lions Club, American Legion, vice president of Ozark Quarterhorse Association, vice president of Ozark Stallion Syndicate.
Survivors are his wife, Elvina "Peggy" of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred SCALES, Nashville, Tenn.; one brother, Wilson COOPER of Nashville; three sisters, Mrs. Irma WARDELL, Tuscon, Arizona, Mrs. Margaret WALKER and Mrs. Josephine TAYLOR, both of Nashville; and two grandchildren.

Funeral service for Dennis Lee CRITTENDEN, 53, of Westville was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. H.R. IGO, pastor of the Assembly of God church, officiating.
Mr. CRITTENDEN was born July 11, 1908, at Westville, son of Nannie and Charley CRITTENDEN and died May 18, in the Stilwell hospital.
Interment was in the Crittenden Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

EATON
Funeral service for Edward D. EATON, 81, of Vinita, father of Mrs. Robert SLATE of Westville, was held Wednesday, May 16 at 2 p.m. in Burckhalter Memorial Chapel at Vinita with Mr. Don LIVINGSTON officiating. Mrs. Charles MCBEE was the soloist and Mrs. Dave WALLER, organist. Mr. EATON, a retired pioneer farmer of Northeastern Oklahoma, died May 14, in a Vinita Nursing Home.
He was born October 28, 1880 in Joe Davis County, Illinois. Mrs. EATON preceded him in death.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery at Vinita.
Survivors are two sons, Leslie EATON, Detroit, Mich., Hubert EATON, Reno, Nev.; three daughters, Mrs. A.N. BOLINGER, Bartlesville, Okla., Mrs. Robert SLATE of Westville and Mrs. Iva FAIR, Compton, Calif.; two half sisters; a step brother and ten grandchildren.

CLARK
Funeral service for Frank CLARK, 82, of Prairie Grove, Ark., father of Herschel CLARK of Westville, was held Thursday at 2 p.m. in Luginbuel Funeral Chapel at Lincoln, Ark.
Interment was in the Ganderville Cemetery near Summers.
Mr. CLARK, a long time resident of Washington County, Ark., was born January 6, 1880 at James Port, Mo., and died Tuesday morning in the Russell Nursing Home in Westville, following a heart attack.
Survivors are his wife, Minnie of Prairie Grove (a patient in Russell Nursing Home), one son, Herschel Clark of Westville; a daughter, Mrs. Allie WHITTENBERG, of Lincoln, Ark.; one brother, Emmett CLARK of St. Joseph, Mo.; four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

LONG
Bert A. LONG, who lived alone near the viaduct on U.S. Hwy. west of Westville, was found dead in his home Sunday morning about 11 o'clock.
Cecil CALDWELL of Baron going to visit him, discovered the body in a decomposed state, on the floor beside his bed.
Relatives were called immediately as well as Adair County Sheriff R.L. SWEPSTON.
Mrs. Everett LEAK, a niece, stated it was believed he had suffered a heart attack and fallen beside his bed, as no other evidence as to the cause of his death was found.
She said five days mail was found in his mail box and it was supposition of relatives and the officers, that he had died probably Wednesday or Thursday.
A retired oil field worker, he had moved to Westville several years ago. He was born March 5, 1893, in the state of Missouri. Graveside service was held in Westville Cemetery, Monday. Rev. Wayne LYONS officiated, with Roberts Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors are two sons, Billy Bob LONG, Los Angeles, Calif., Glenn LONG, Hollo Oak, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl BLAND, of Rich Hill, Mo., and Mrs. Nellie COPE of California; a niece, Mrs. Everette LEAK and a nephew, Earl HALL of Westville.

POLLOCK
Mrs. Oliver (Tina) POLLOCK, 68, former resident of Westville died Saturday morning at her home in Joplin, Mo., following several months illness.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday morning at the Methodist church at Joplin. Graveside service and burial were held in the Westville City Cemetery Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs. POLLOCK was born in the state of Washington, the daughter of David and Dana ROLLINS. When a small child, she moved with her parents to Westville, where she finished school.
She and Oliver POLLOCK, a young newspaper editor, also of Westville, were married more than 40 years ago and were the parents of a son, who died in infancy. They later moved to Joplin, Mo., where they were both employed by the Joplin Daily newspaper until their retirement six years ago.
Survivors are a niece, Mrs. Rowe HILL (whom they reared) of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Link SIXKILLER, Westville, Mrs. Helen PRYOR, Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Kate CLAYCOMB of Scott City, Kan.; and one brother, Moses ROLLINS, Oak Ridge, Ore.

ALDERSON
Graveside service was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in the Westville Cemetery with Rev. Clayton WALTERS, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Mrs. ALDERSON died in New York. She was born in Russia, but had lived in New York for 40 years. Her death followed a short illness.
Her late husband, Bob ALDERSON, a former resident of Westville, was the brother of Leslie ALDERSON, and a nephew of Pete ALDERSON, and another brother, Otto ALDERSON, of Stilwell. Mrs. ALDERSON was a recent guest of relatives in Westville and Stilwell.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Helen GROSS of Brooklyn, New York.

MOORE
Mrs. Zella MOORE, 71, and a resident of Watts, Okla., died Monday, June 11 in an Okmulgee hospital after an extended illness. She moved from Watts a year ago to Tulsa where she made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Marie NEWTON. She was born November 10, 1890, in Medford, Iowa. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Siloam Springs, Ark.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Ethel CLARK, Abbyville, La.; Mrs. Irene DECKER, and Mrs. Joe MCLAUGHLIN, both of Henrietta, Okla., Mrs. Tommy CHISLER, Watts, Okla., Mrs. Billie Ann FURLOW, Gravette, Ark., and Mrs. Newton in Tulsa; one son, R.M. MARTIN, Henrietta; one step-son, Sam MARTIN, Flippin, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Roy BATSON, Lincoln, Ark.; one brother, Walter Gilbert, Oklahoma City, Okla.
The body is being held at the Wasson Funeral Home pending completion of arrangements.

Funeral service for Mrs. Myrtle R. (Goy) WOOD, 70, of Sallisaw was held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the pastor of the First Baptist Church at Sallisaw, of which she was a member, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the Westville Baptist Church. Mrs. Bessie SWEET, accompanied by her daughter, Miss Gloria SWEET, sang.
Mrs. WOOD was born May 5, 1892 near Garfield, Ark., the daughter of James F. and Mary Francis SUMMEY, and died Sunday afternoon, July 15, 1962 in Sparks Memorial Hospital at Fort Smith, Ark.
When a small child, she with her parents, moved to Granby, Mo. In 1913, the family moved to Westville. On January 21, 1941, she was married to Goy WOOD of Sallisaw, where they established their home and have since lived.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband of the home; one sister, Mrs. Nell ALBRECHT; one brother, Harry SUMMEY, both of Westville; a niece, Mrs. Mary MILLER, Tulsa; and two nephews of Granby, Mo.

Funeral service for A.M. KIRBY, 84, was held Sunday, July 22, 2:00 p.m. in Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tom HAMM, Jehovah Witness minister, officiating.
Mr. KIRBY was born March 2, 1878 in Missouri and died July 18 in Bennett Nursing Home, in Tahlequah. Interment was in Alberty Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

He is survived by one brother, P.S. KIRBY of Muskogee. Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were P.S. Ace LEDFORD, 84, former resident of Westville community died at his home in Alfalfa, Sunday, July 22. Funeral and burial were in Alfalfa.
Mr. LEDFORD, a half brother of the late J.H. WHELCHEL, lived and farmed with his brother, three miles south of Westville, before statehood. He moved from Westville to Alfalfa forty years ago.
Survivors include his wife, three sons and two daughters, a niece and nephew are Earl WHELCHEL and Mrs. Farris CABE of Westville.

SERATTE
Funeral rites for Finnis E. SERATTE, 62, Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Westville, were held Monday July 23 in Broadway Mortuary, Wichita, with the Rev. Gordon D. DORIAN, pastor of the Wichita Olivet Baptist church of which he was a member, officiating. Interment was in the Old Mission Cemetery, Wichita, Kansas.
Mr. SERATTE, a service station attendant for Johnson Oil Company, died Friday, July 20, 1962, as the result of injuries suffered in an auto accident July 15.
He was born June 12, 1900, in Winslow, Ark. On August 27, 1927, he was married to Miss Margaret GALBRAITH in Fayetteville, Ark. In 1955 the family moved from Westville to Wichita.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret of the home; two sons, Franklin B. and J. Edward SERATTE, Wichita; eight daughters, Mrs. Bill ADKERSON, Wichita, Mrs. Gerald REESE, Nevada, Mo., Mrs. Russell ABRAHAM, Independence, Kansas, Melba, Sharon, Glenda, Peggy and Patsy, all of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Daisy GALBRAITH, Mrs. William GALBRAITH and Mrs. Raymond MYERS of Westville; and six grandsons.

WALKINGSTICK
Graveside funeral service for George WALKINGSTICK, 52, was held July 23 in the England family cemetery on what was originally the Lincoln ENGLAND (his grandfather's) home site.
Rev. George GUTHRIE was the officiating minister. Roberts Funeral Home was in charge of the burial.
Mr. WALKINGSTICK, the son of John and Pamelia WALKINGSTICK was born and reared in the England Hollow community. He death was ruled as from natural causes after an autopsy was performed at a Tulsa hospital.
He was found north of Stilwell near the railroad tracks July 18 by two men. It was believed he had been dead five or six days. The body was taken by Adair County Attorney Lawrence T. SPRAY to Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, where a pathologist found there were no broken bones, concussion or wound of any kind.
There are no near relatives surviving, although there are a number of cousins.

FOWLER
Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Ella FOWLER, 73, are pending at Roberts Funeral home.
Mrs. FOWLER died Tuesday night, July 31, in Memorial hospital in Siloam Springs.

EATON
Funeral service for Fletcher EATON, 46, of Johnson, Kansas, brother of Mrs. Vance GREEN of Westville, was held Thursday afternoon, July 26 in Roberts Funeral Chapel. Interment was in the Stilwell Cemetery.
Mr. EATON was born October 22, 1915 in Stilwell and died July 23 in Johnson, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife of the home; five sons, Jim, Joe, Jerry and Donald, all of the home, and Johnnie of Wichita, Kansas; four daughters, Mary Ann and Linda of the home. Funeral service for Claude E. BROWN of the Addielee community was held Friday, July 27 at the Baptist Mission with the Rev. Bud LACIE officiating. Interment was in the Mission Cemetery.

BUFFINGTON
Funeral service for Mrs. (Grover) Kate BUFFINGTON, 76, was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel; with Dr. Clayton WALTERS and Rev. Bud LACIE officiating. Members of the LACIE family accompanied by Mrs. Hazel LADD sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Mansion Over the Hilltop."
Mrs. BUFFINGTON was born on August 31, 1885 in the Indian Territory near Evansville, Ark., the daughter of Buford and Lauvina LEWIS ALBERTY, and died Sunday night, enroute from the Bennett Nursing Home to Siloam Springs hospital.
In 1894 she and her parents moved to the Alberty farm, 2 1/2 miles southeast of Westville, (then Indian Territory). Mrs. BUFFINGTON attended the Indian Female Seminary at Tahlequah and taught school for four years.
She and Grover BUFFINGTON were married in 1909 and established their home on his Indian Allotment east of Westville.
They were the paretns of three children; two sons and a daughter, one son, Roger preceded her in death in 1910. Mr. BUFFINGTON died January 20, 1959. Mrs. BUFFINGTON was a member of the Methodist church.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Luther SIMMONS, L.H. JONES, Jr., Neil AKIN, Marvin CAGLE, Oscar SMITH, J.D. HUDGINS. Flower bearers were Mrs. Roy TENNANT, Mrs. Carl HILL, Mrs. Clayton HOLLAND, Mrs. Charles FREEMAN, Mrs. Maxine RITTER, and Mrs. Ethel NEAL.

KIRK
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest KIRK attended the funeral service of Hester KIRK, 71, August 17 at 10 a.m. in Watson Funeral Chapel at Fayetteville, Ark. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery at Fayetteville.
His survivors are his wife, Dessie of the home; one son, John KIRK of Fayetteville; two daughters, Mary KIRK, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Lee HERRON of Fayetteville. Other relatives attending the service were from Cyeruss, Kansas, Frove, Okla., and Springdale, Ark.

BLACKKETTER
Funeral rites for John S. BLACKKETTER, 91, were held on Saturday, August 25 at 2 p.m. in Roberts Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Edwin BEAM, pastor of the Christian church officiating.
Mr. BLACKKETTER was born February 23, 1871 in Columbus, Ind., the son of John W. and Maria BLACKKETTER and died August 22, 1962, in a Stilwell rest home, following a long illness.
He spent his younger life in Indiana, and at the age of 27, he homesteaded at Leedy, Okla.
In 1901, he was married to Miss Lola SLOUGH, to this union three boys and two girls were born. Mrs. BLACKKETTER died in 1925.
In September 1932 he married Pearl NEWMAN, who died in 1936.
He and Maud SHIPMAN were married in 1941 and they lived in Westville until the time of his death.
For thirty-six years he was an employee of the MK.T. Railroad. He had been a member of the Christian church in Westville for six years.
Interment was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Lee COLLINS, Thomas BRIGHT, Lee MARCUM, Hardy COMSTOCK, Hill ANDERSON, and Bill DAVIS. Flower bearers were Mrs. Crystal CARLTON, Mrs. Maudie JEFFRIES, Mrs. Charley RUSSELL nd Mrs. Joe LANGLEY.

WALL
Funeral service for Lee P. WALL, 91, was held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bud LACIE officiating. Music was furnished by members of the LACIE family.
Mr. WALL was born November 21, 1870, at Evansville, Ark., and died Wednesday, August 22 in the Washington General Hospital at Fayetteville, Ark., following an extended illness.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

BABB
Funeral rites for Mrs. Ida BABB, 86, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON accompanied Oscar SMITH who sang "Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior," and "A Closer Walk with Thee."
Mrs. BABB was born October 29, 1875 at Prairie Grove, Ark., the daughter of John ALDEN and Matilda MAYFIELD, and died at her home in Westville August 23, 1962.
She was married to Irvin N. BABB of Prairie Grove, August 17, 1898 and it was there, that they established their home and lived until 47 years ago when they moved to Westville and had continued to live until his death June 23, of this year, she continued to live alone in the home until her death last Thursday.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Thomas BRIGHT, Owen BUFFINGTON, Oscar SMITH, Fred WILT, Regan RATLIFF and Bill DAVIS. Flower bearers were Mrs. Lloyd SLOAN, Mrs. Leslie ALDERSON, Mrs. Bill TULLIS, Mrs. Fred WILT and Miss Bertha BROWN.

SHARYER
Word was received here this week by relatives of the death of Mrs. Mary SHARYER, 81, of Everett, Wash., a former Westville resident who suffered a stroke some three weeks ago from which she never regained consciousness and died Friday, August 24, at a hospital in Everett. Funeral service and burial was at Everett.
Survivors include three daughters, Ellen and Rachael of Alaska, Stella of Denver; two sons, Bob of Everett and Woodrow of Calif.; two brothers, W.F. LANGLEY and Joe H. LANGLEY of Westville; a sister, Mrs. Alice SIMPSON, Westville and several grandchildren.
Mrs. SHARYER visited here two years ago, and it was through her visit that a "Langley Day" was organized which is held each year in October, it being given the first time in her honor.

Funeral rites for Mrs. Lillian Francis SPEARS, 85, a life long resident of Cincinnati, Ark., community were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Wedington, Ark., Community church, with interment in the Wedington Cemetery.
Mrs. SPEARS died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Spence GILBREATH, in Cincinnati.
She was born July 22, 1887 at Wedington, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank FARLEY.

DIXON
Funeral service for Jake W. DIXON, 66, was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Pyeatte's Funeral Chapel in Siloam Springs with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam.
Mr. DIXON was born February 8, 1896, at Scraper, and died Monday morning, September 3, in the Stilwell hospital.
He was a member of the Nazarene church.

Mrs. BARTON was born at Bentonville, Ark., November 23, 1889 and died in the City Hospital at Vinita Wednesday, September 26th.
In 1913 she was married to Earl BARTON, who preceded her in death in 1943. She was a member of the Methodist church.

HAMPTON
Wade HAMPTON, 35, of Bella Vista, Calif., son of Rev. H.W. HAMPTON and the late Mrs. HAMPTON of Westville and brother of Mrs. J.C. MORRIS of Stilwell, was killed in a one car accident Saturday night, September 29 in California.
He was driving between his home near Bella Vista and Redlands, Calif., when a defective part broke, allowing his car to go out of control, throwing him out, as the car overturned, crushing his body, according to a report received by members of the family in Westville.
HAMPTON was reared in Westville and attended the Westville school. He lived for a number of years in the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. MORRIS in Westville.
He had just returned to California two months ago after a visit here with relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, 2:30 p.m. in Roberts Funeral Chapel with interment in the Baptist Mission Cemetery.

HASTINGS
Funeral service for Mrs. Rebecca R. HASTINGS, 96, was held Sunday, September 30, 2:00 p.m. in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Bud LACIE officiating. Music was furnished by the LACIE family.
Mrs. HASTINGS was born April 5, 1866 at Carrolton, Ark., and died Friday, September 28 in the Stilwell hospital. Interment was in the Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Survivors are a daughter, Bealie HASTINGS; three sons, W.D., Elmer and Horace HASTINGS all of Westville.

REINOLDS
Funeral rites for Mrs. Lucinda Jane REINOLDS, 86, were held Thursday, October 18, 2:00 p.m. in Roberts Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Haden COLVIN officiating assisted by the Rev. Bud LACIE. Members of the Lacie family and Oscar SMITH sang, "Empty Mansion," "Let the Lower Lights Be Burning."
Mrs. REINOLDS was born February 8, 1876 in Washington County, Ark., daughter of Sam and Ann PHILLIPS, and died at her home in Westville Sunday evening, October 14.
She and Louis REINOLDS were married October 4, 1894. To this union, eight children were born and with these, she also helped to rear seven step-sons. Mr. REINOLDS preceded her in death in January, 1916.
Two of her sons died this year, Oscar REINOLDS, July 5 and Rudolph REINOLDS, September 15.
Mrs. REINOLDS with her children moved to Westville in 1917 and had resided here until her death. She was a member of the Christian church.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

HILL
Funeral service for Carl HILL, 55, was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Roberts Chapel with the Rev. Jack STEELE of Siloam Springs, Ark., and the Rev. Edwin BEEM, pastor of the First Christian church of Westville, officiating. The Hill Quartet of Tulsa sang "I Will Meet You in the Moring," "Whispering Hope," "No Tears in Heaven."
Mr. HILL, a World War 1 veteran, was born at Stilwell, October 20, 1906 the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.S. HILL and died Sunday evening, October 14, 1952 in the Veterans Hospital, Fayetteville, Ark.
He and Miss Kitty ADAIR of Stilwell were married November 14, 1934.
They, with their daughter, Gloria, moved to Westville when he became manager of Roberts Funeral Home, which position he held for seven years, until March of this year, when he was forced to retire because of ill health.
He was a member of the First Christian church, the American Legion and Westville Improvement Club. Mr. HILL was interested and active in all projects, civic and otherwise, for progress in Westville and community.
Through respect to him, all business houses in Westville were closed for the funeral service.
Interment was in the Stilwell Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pall bearers were, Thomas BRIGHT, Clyde RATHER, Claud TILLERY, Al HEMBREE, Jim STEVENS and Paul STEVENS. Flower bearers were Mrs. Woodrow BOWLES, Mrs. Clyde RATHER, Mrs. Bill POWELL, Mrs. Robert SLATE, Mrs. Milton STALCUP and Miss Pat TILLERY.

WALKER

Mr. WALKER was born July 14, 1892 at Huntsville, Ark., the son of Wiley and Sarah WALKER, and died Friday, October 11 at his home, south of Westville. Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.

SWEPSTON
Mrs. Abbie SWEPSTON, 70, the mother of Sheriff R.L. SWEPSTON of Stilwell, died in Tracy, Calif., October 5, following a long illness.
Funeral service and burial was in Hutchinson, Kansas, October 10.
She is survived by two other sons, Glenn of Stilwell and Albert of Tracy, Calif. Sheriff and Mrs. SWEPSTON and family attended the funeral.

RUSSELL
Funeral service and burial for Ernest J. RUSSELL, 65, of the Addielee community, were to be held this week in Denver, Colo.
Mr. RUSSELL died Saturday, October 20 in the Stilwell hospital following three weeks illness. The body was removed to Denver Monday.
Having been associated with the Denver stockyards for many years, and retiring early this summer, he and Mrs. RUSSELL came to Oklahoma and to their farm in the Addielee district.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of the home, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lyle H. SAWYER, Denver.

Funeral service for Abraham M. MALLORY, 82, of Watts was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James T. LANKFORD, pastor of the Pentecostal church, Westville, officiating.

Cecil MANTEL, 67, was fatally injured in a car accident in Oklahoma City, Monday night.
MANTEL, former resident of Westville, was employed as janitor at the Peoples Bank, before moving to Oklahoma City several years ago.
He is survived by his wife of the home, a son, Cecil Jr., one daughter, Mrs. Fred BURCHFIELD of Oklahoma City, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in Pyeatte's Funeral Chapel, Siloam Springs.

BUZZARD
Mrs. Melinda BUZZARD, resident of Route 1, Jay, Okla., and a former resident of Watts, Okla., died at 4:05 a.m. Saturday in a Tahlequah, Okla., hospital after an extended illness. She was born May 9, 1914 at Watts and had spent her entire life in this area. She was a member of the Indian Baptist Church at Chewey, Okla.
Survivors include one son, William J. BUZZARD, Jay, Okla.; three daughters, Miss Juanita BUZZARD, and Mrs. Edna JONES, both of Jay, Mrs. Eileen PATHKILLER, Watts; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George MOUNCE, Watts; two brothers, Willard MOUNCE, Maysville, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. Rose WILEY of Watts, Mrs. Betsy WHITMIRE and Mrs. Emma MANNING both of Westville, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral service for Mrs. BUZZARD was held at 2:30 Monday in the Chewey Indian Baptist church with Rev. Bud LACIE officiating. Burial was in the Crittenden Cemetery under the direction of the Pyeatte Funeral Service.

ELLIS
Funeral service for R.Y. ELLIS, 81, of Baron, was held Sunday afternoon, November 11 at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe HAZLETT, pastor of the Stilwell Methodist church and the Rev. G.H. CRITTENDEN, pastor of the Stilwell Baptist church officiating. The Baron Baptist church choir sang, "Rock of Ages," "Abide with Me" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
Mr. ELLIS was born April 2, 1881 at Noesho, Mo., and died November 6 in the Stilwell hospital.
On January 23, 1908, he was married to Miss Alta ADAMS and to this union nine children were born. Two of them have preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Methodist church. Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were his three sons, Robert, Reese and Bill ELLIS; two sons-in-law, J.D. WRIGHT and Freeman SLOAN, and a grandson, James STRAW.
Flower girls were the granddaughters, Janine, Debora, Colleen, Jeanie and Karen ELLIS.
Survivors include his wife Alta of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Eula WRIGHT, Tulsa, Mrs. Gertrude SLOAN, Loveland, Colo., Mrs. Neva COLEBURN, Labrador; four sons, Robert ELLIS, Stilwell, Reece ELLIS, Stockton, Calif., Bill ELLIS, Albuquerque, N.M., Joe ELLIS with the U.S. Navy stationed at Norfolk, Va., and 14 grandchildren.

HALL
Funeral service for A.J. HALL, 83, of Westville, was held Sunday, November 25, in the Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. E.K. LANKFORD and the Rev. Bud LACIE officiating. Music was presented by the Lacie Quartet.
Mr. HALL, who was born May 15, 1880, died in the Elizabeth Hospital, Prairie Grove, Thursday, November 22. Burial was in the Westville Cemetery, under direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were N.A. URICH, Jess WALTERS, Lee CENTER, Don CAGLE, Harlan WEBB and John BYRAM. Flower bearers were Mrs. N.A. URICH, Mrs. Jess WALTERS, Mrs. Lee CENTER, Mrs. Con CAGLE, Mrs. Harlan WEBB and Mrs. John BYRAM.
He is survived by 6 children; Earl HALL and Mrs. Everett LEAK, Westville, Mrs. John LONG, Anadarko, Mrs. Tom FERRELL, Oklahoma City, Ed HALL, Coats, Kans., Rirta HALL, Peggs; two brothers, John HALL, Golden City, Mo., and Dave HALL, Omack, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Eva MALTING, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Viola FALLER, Mt. Grove, Mo.; 42 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

SHANNON
J. Roger SHANNON, 56, Ellinwood, Kansas, died suddenly Monday night, November 12, at his home following a heart attack. He was Superintendent of the Francis Oil and Gas Co., where he had been employed the past 23 years.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Ellinwood Methodist church with the Rev. Nevell RAZAK officiating.
Mr. SHANNON lived with his parents in the Morris community from 1930 to 1934, and was known by many in this area.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, Kansas, with Nickerson Masonic Lodge No. 43, A.F. & A.M. of which Mr. SHANNON was a member, in charge of graveside ceremony.
Survivors include, his wife, Edith (Daughter of Mrs. Esta BROUGHTON, Westville) of the home; a son, William Robert, north Hollywood, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Philip (Patricia) BOYNTON, Loring A.F.B., Limestone, Maine; two granddaughters, Kelly and Shannon; two sisters, Mrs. Helen COUNSIL, Tulsa, and Mrs. Clifford SINGER, August, Kansas.

SCISM
Mrs. Annie SCISM, 82, long time resident of Route 2, Siloam Springs, Ark., died Monday morning in Memorial hospital after an extended illness. She was born February 17, 1880 at Carrolton, Mo., and had been a resident of Siloam Springs since 1883. Her husband Emory, preceded her in death in 1945. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include four sons, Russell of Pomona, Calif., Ray, Stockton, Mo., Frank and Clyde, both of Siloam Springs, Ark.; four daughters, Mrs. Mae BRAMWELL and Mrs. Minta BRAMWELL both of Siloam Springs, Mrs. Hazel MCKINNEY of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Mildred VANHOOSER, Watts, Okla.
Funeral services for Mrs. SCISM were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, in the First Baptist church with Rev. Clifford PALMER officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Pyeatte Funeral Service.

ROY
Mrs. Minnie ROY, former resident of Westville, died November 22 in Long Beach, Calif. She was born in Dutch Mills, Ark., and died most of her life at Summers, Ark., and Westville, Okla., before moving to Long Beach in 1940. The family home, a mile west of town, is now the Lee PICKENS home.
Mrs. ROY was preceded in death by her husband, Will ROY in 1939 and a daughter, Grace SWAGERTY, in 1936. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include a daughter, Loyce HOLLAND and a son, Fred ROY, both of Long Beach; five grandchildren, Doris HART, San Leandro, Calif., Irene DOUGLASS, Wayne ROY, Helen LICHTI, and Robert SWAGERTY, all of Long Beach, Calif.; 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
The funeral service was held November 24 with burial at Green Hills Memorial Park, Long Beach, Calif.

JOHNSON
Funeral rites for Mrs. Effie JOHNSON, 73, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bud LACIE, officiating. Music was furnished by members of the Lacie family.
Mrs. JOHNSON was born June 13, 1889 in Madison County, Ark., and died December 8 in Stilwell hospital. Interment was in the Foreman CEMETERY under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Milton SATALCUP, Calvin PHILLIPS, Haden COLVIN, Elzey WHEELER, Hollis WEAVER, and Shorty BERGER. Flower bearers were Mrs. Una HOLLAND, Mrs. Nancy FREEMAN, and Mrs. Ida FLEIG.
Survivors include her husband Colvin JOHNSON of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Nola FOREMAN, McAlester; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral service for Tola White BOUQUET, 82, was held Friday afternoon, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Westville, with Rev. Luther NELSON officiating, assisted by Bro. Leon CORNTASSEL. Mrs. George MURRAY, Mrs. Chas. BROOKS and Mrs. Fred ALLISON, accompanied by Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, sang, "Take My Hand, Precious Lord," and "Farther Along."
Pallbearers were John TABOR, George Beuhler BOUQUET 111, Tola BOUQUET, Ronald RHEA, Burl WILKIE and Jess WRIGHT. Flower bearers were Winifred TAYLOR, Lovey Alice BOUQUET, Joyce HELD, Helen GRIPP, Rita Kay SIMMONS, Sarah HEUSTIS.
Mr. BOUQUET was born in Dent County, Mo., June 26, 1880, the son of George B. and Nancy Ann BOUQUET. He received his education in the schools of Farmington, Ark. The family moved to Baron, Indian Territory, when he was a young man.
He married Alice Ola SUMMERLIN, October 24, 1904, in Farmington, Ark. Mrs. BOUQUET preceded Mr. BOUQUET in death, February 24, 1958.
Mr. BOUQUET was converted many years ago and became a member of the Holiness church.
Survivors are the six children, Mrs. Allie NELSON, of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., Mrs. Birdie LANIER, Monterey Park, Calif., Mrs. Violet BEAN, Pawhuska, Mrs. Luther SIMMONS, Westville, Roy E. BOUQUET, Amarillo, Texas, and George B. BOUQUET 11, Cincinnati, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Mattie BUTTERWORTH, Springfield, Ore.; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Interment was in Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

GILLIAM
Funeral rites for Paul GILLIAM, resident of Bentonville, Ark., were held December 18 in the Callison-McKinney Funeral Chapel at Bentonville with the pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Interment was in the Bentonville Cemetery.
Mr. GILLIAM, who died December 16, following an extended illness, was a brother of the late O.E. GILLIAM of Westville. He was well known in this area, having been district superintendent of Conoco Oil Company until his retirement a number of years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline, of the home; two brothers, Embra GILLIAM, Detroit, Mich., and Robert L. GILLIAM of Alvia Beach, Calif.; a number of nieces and nephews.
Two nieces, Mrs. Grover HOWARD of Westville and Mrs. Lucile MCCALLUM of Sallisaw attended the funeral.

DOWNING
Miss Betty Jean DOWNING, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clem DOWNING, of Baron, died in Hastings Indian Hospital, Tahlequah, Monday night as a result of a one car accident near Baron, Monday afternoon.
Betty Jean, Marlyn and Betty WATT of Baron, passengers in the car with Buddy LANGWORTHY also of Baron were returning from Stilwell when the car went out of control, smashing into a steep bank and overturning several times, according to reports.
Betty Jean was a 1962 graduate of Westville High School and was attending Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas. She was home for the Christmas holidays.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Baron Community Church. Interment will be in the Downing Cemetery at Baron under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Survivors include her parents; two brothers, Leon and Alex; one sister, Shirley; two grandmothers, Mrs. Mamie BELL and Mrs. Susie DOWNING.
