MUNSEY
Funeral service for Oscar Oren MUNSEY, 61, was held on Wednesday afternoon in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Devoe WHITELY of Springdale, Ark., officiating. Miss Bertha LACIE, Bud and Wayne LACIE, accompanied by Miss Leora LACIE, sang, "Face to Face," "Beyond the Sunset" and "Farther Along." Burial was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mr. MUNSEY was born April 28, 1908, in Cassville, Mo., and died December 25 in a Claremore hospital. He was married December 10, 1941 to Miss Florence BEULKE at Kingman, Ariz. He was a member of the Methodist church.
Pallbearers were, Albert CHADWELL, O Lee CHADWELL, Dee SMITH, Jack SMITH, Arlie REED and Luther REED Flower bearers were Mrs. Jennie WHITELY, Mrs. Devoe WHITELY, Mrs. D.W. BUSHYHEAD and Mrs. Arlie REED.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Florence MUNSEY of the home; a son, Capt. O.L. AUDD of Victorville, Calif.; four grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Inez CURRY of Claremore, Mrs. Elsie WELCH of Collinsville, and Mrs. Myrtle EASLEY of Jay; two brothers, Olin MUNSEY of Hobart, Edwin MUNSEY of San Diego, Calif.

MALLEN
Mrs. Ernest MALLEN, 76, nothe of Mrs. Henry HUBBARD of Westville died Tuesday night at her home in Perrin, Mo., following a long illness. Funeral service and burial was Thursday at Gower, Mo.
Mrs. HUBBARD was with her mother at the time of her death having been called there last week because of her critical illness.

CHADWELL
Graveside service was held Friday afternoon, December 11 at 3:30 o'clock in the Westville Cemetery for Diana Lynn CHADWELL, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lilbern CHADWELL who was born Thursday, December 10, in a Tulsa hospital.
Burial was in the Westville Cemetery with Roberts Funeral Home directing. The Rev. Bud LACIE officiated.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. A.L. CHADWELL and Mr. and Mrs. Bert FLEIG, of Westville.

January 8, 1960

ROORK
George W. ROORK, 67, of Park Hill, brother of Joe ROORK of Westville, was killed instantly Wednesday, December 30, when a tree he was cutting near his home in the Tenkiller Lake area, fell on him.
Funeral service was held on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Agent-Bradley Funeral Chapel, Muskogee, with the Rev. Hugh HARRISON, pastor of Trinity Methodist church, Muskogee, officiating.
Interment was in the Green Lawn Cemetery at Checotah.
Mr. ROORK, retired, had been in the cleaning business in Muskogee for thirty-five years. Not only a prominent businessman in Muskogee, he was active in civic and other organizations.
He was a past president of the Oklahoma State Cleaners Association; a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts, having served overseas in the U.S. Army during World War 1, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Gladys Bell ROORK of the home; four brothers, W.M. and Ira of Checotah, H.C. of Tulsa; Joe of Westville; three sisters, Mrs. R.M. HICKS of Council Hill, Mrs. Jerome CASHION of Porter, and Mrs. Anna Lee REYNOLDS of Collinsville.

TILLERY
Funeral service for C.W. "Bill" TILLERY, 68, father of Charles W. TILLERY Jr., and uncle of Claud TILLERY of Westville, was held Sunday afternoon, January 3, at 2:30 o'clock in the Bethel church, west of Siloam Springs, Ark., with the Rev. Jerry HOPKINS officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill CEMETERY, Siloam Springs.
Mr. TILLERY, a retired farmer who was born May 27, 1891 near Siloam Springs, Ark., died January 1, in the Memorial hospital in Siloam Springs, after an extended illness.
Surviving are six sons, Terrel, U.S. Air Force; Charles W. Jr., Westville, James, Kansas City, Mo., George L., Fort Worth, Texas, John, Tulsa, and Frank, Siloam Springs; four daughters, Mrs. Ellen NICHOLS, Miami, Fla., Mrs. Della WILLY, Sand Springs, Mrs. Corrine RODMAN and Mrs. Helen PICKELL, Siloam Springs; five brothers, Gus, Siloam Springs, Jim and Vernon, Stockton, Calif., and Floyd, Peoria, Ariz.; three sisters, Mrs. Victoria SIMPSON, LaHabra, Calif., Mrs. Bertha FORREST, Redding, Calif., Mr. Daisy PALMER, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and twelve grandchildren.

ROLLER
Funeral rites for Amos ROLLER, 72, pioneer resident of Westville, were held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph FOX of Prairie, Grove, Ark., former pastor of the Westville Christian church, officiating. The Rev. and Mrs. Herman PADEN of Gentry, Ark., accompanied by Mrs. John BUNNELL, sang "Rock of Ages," "Beyond the Sunset" and "Amazing Grace."
Mr. ROLLER was born December 9, 1877, at Cane Hill, Ark., the son of John and Francis ROLLER. He died Monday night, January 18, enroute to a Fayetteville hospital, following a heart attack at his home.
His early education was received in the Sugar Hill school and higher education in other Arkansas schools. On April 11, 1909, he and Miss Myrtle BASSHAM were married in the home of her parents at Evansville, Ark.
They immediately established their home on the Roller farm near Cane Hill, where they lived for several years, before moving to Westville. For a short period they lived in Lincoln, Ark., returning to Westville, Mr. ROLLER established a flour and feed store as well as a shipper of grain to many other states. He continued in the business for 28 years, until his retirement.
Although totally blind for 15 years, he continued his frequent visits with friends as he came to town, until a few years ago, when he was confined to his home.
An ardent Democrat, he was always interested in political affairs of his county, state and nation, as well as world happenings. His interest in the progress of Westville and community never waned as he visited with his friends, discussing the opportunities for growth.
Mr. and Mrs. ROLLER quietly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last April in their home, where they had lived for 40 years. He was a member of the Christian church and during his last illness, expressed to Mrs. ROLLER, that he was "ready to go."
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were; Hardy COMSTOCK, Woodrow BOWLES, Owen BUFFINGTON, Frank MOSS, Zeke ADAIR and Tom WOODS. Honorary pallbearers were; Charley WATERS, D.W. BUSHYHEAD, Hillery GIBSON, W.C. BOST, Oliver MATTHEWS, John MAXWELL. Flower bearers were; Mrs. E.C. PARROTT, Mrs. Hardy COMSTOCK, Mrs. Jim PENNINGTON, Mrs. John MAXWELL, Mrs. Frank MOSS and Mrs. Kenneth MORRIS.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle ROLLER of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Miles (Coriene) MAYS of Park Ridge, Ill,, and Mrs. H.B. (Leona) MIDDLETON of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mrs. Delpha ALBERTY, and Mrs. Aud ROGERS of Lincoln, Ark.; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

CRITTENDEN
Funeral service for Martin CRITTENDEN, 77, native and life long resident of Westville community, was held Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Devoe WHITELY, pastor of the First Baptist church at Springdale, Ark. Accompanied by Mrs. Lena CABE, Mrs. George MURRAY, Mrs. Charles BROOKS, Fred ALLISON and Robert HIGHLAND sang, "Abide with Me," "In the Garden" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
Mr. CRITTENDEN died Saturday, January 16, in the Memorial hospital at Siloam Springs, Ark. He was born January 22, 1882, a few miles southeast of Westville, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma, the son of John R. and Alice CRITTENDEN.
He attended the Shiloh schol near his home, during his early years of education and later the old Cherokee Male Seminary at Tahlequah.
Mr. CRITTENDEN's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry CRITTENDEN were among the Cherokee Indians who came to the Indian Territory from the South on that long trek, over "The Trail of Tears." Mr. CRITTENDEN, who was Scotch-Irish and Mrs. CRITTENDEN, full blood Indian, took up land and settled a few miles southeast of what is now the town of Westville, Okla. A part of the land is now the farm owned by Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow LANIER and Mrs. Charles LANIER, on which they live.
Mr. CRITTENDEN was buried in the Crittenden Cemetery near his home, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice CRITTENDEN of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Frank GRIFFIN of Westville; two sons, John R. CRITTENDEN of Westville and C.M. CRITTENDEN of Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren and two brothers, George CRITTENDEN and R.H. CRITTENDEN of Pryor.

CODNER
Funeral service for Howard M. CODNER, 57, was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, the Rev. O. Troy THOMAS, former pastor of the Westville Methodist church, now pastor at Coweta, officiated. Accompanied by Miss Leora LACIE, Bud and Wayne LACIE sang, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "Shall We Gather at the River," and "Beautiful Garden on High."
Mr. CODNER was born May 26, 1902 in Ithaca, New York, and died Saturday morning, following a heart attack in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence LASATER, where they were guests. Mr. and Mrs. CODNER moved from the east to Rogers, Ark., in 1947 and in 1949 moved to Westville, where they resided until last November, when they moved to Tulsa.
They were broiler raisers for a number of years, later operating a television and radio service until his retirement two years ago, because of ill health.
He was a member of the Methodist church. Burial was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were; Luther SIMMONS, Harold MOSS, Owen BUFFINGTON, Kenneth MORRIS, Claud TILLERY and Homer GUTHRIE. Flower bearers were; Mrs. Luther SIMMONS and Mrs. Homer GUTHRIE.
Survivors are his wife, Hildred; a son, Richard Marshal of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren and seven brothers and sisters in New York state.

TENNANT
Funeral service for Henry TENNANT, 82, resident of Summers and Lincoln, Ark., was held Friday afternoon, January 20, at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church at Summers with the Rev. Walter PENNEL officiating. Accompanied by Miss Araminta RICHARDSON, Mrs. Vallie SMITH sang, "Take My Hand, Precious Lord" and "Beyond the Sunset." Burial was in the Ganderville Cemetery near Lincoln.
Mr. TENNANT was born July 25, 1877 at Dutch Mills, Ark., the son of Tom and Delilah TENNANT and died January 20 in the Russell Nursing Home at Westville.
Mrs. TENNANT the former, Miss Ellen GIBSON preceded him in death in April 1959. They had lived in the Summers community their married life until a few years ago when they moved to Lincoln.
Burial was in the Ganderville Cemetery near Lincoln.|
Pallbearers were Roy TENNANT, Walter TENNANT, Logan GIBSON, Eugene GIBSON, J.R. KIRK and Cowville SCOTT.
Survivors include three brothers, John TENNANT of Westville; Hugh TENNANT of Oklahoma City and Fred TENNANT of Lincoln.
Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were; Hugh TENNANT of Oklahoma City and Mrs. Hugh WILT and a granddaughter of Vinita.

WEEKS
Funeral service for Laurence Lyman WEEKS, 54, was held Monday morning at 10 o'clock in the Memory Chapel of Pyeattes Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, Ark., with Elmer BURKETT, Reader in the Christian Science Church in Fayetteville, Ark., officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery at Tulsa.
Mr. WEEKS died Saturday afternoon following a heart attack at his home on Route 1, Westville.
He was born January 14, 1906, at Grass Valley, Calif., where he was reared and received his education. His active life was spent in Northern California, where he was an office machine repairman, until he moved to his present home near Westville, four years ago.
During World War 11 he served in the U.S. Merchant Marines.
Survivors include his wife, Fern WEEKS of the home; one son, Ropbert WEEKS of Wilburton; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Joe DIAZ of Mantecka, Calif.; one brother, Earl DESPAN, San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Ray STINE, Southgate, Calif.

MCCULLOCH
Funeral service for Miss Sallie MCCULLOCH, 90, was held Wednesday at Lincoln with the Rev. R.L. BURNS, pastor of the Cane Hill Presbyterian church, of which she was a member,officiating.
Miss MCCULLOCH was born July 15, 1879, the daughter of Clem and Cammie LACY MCCULLOCH, was reared and lived most of her life in Cane Hill until 11 years ago, when she entered the Lincoln Nursing Home, where she died Monday afternoon.
Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Mary CARRUTHERS, Brady, Texas; one brother, Jim MCCULLOCH, Fullerton, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

TENNANT
Funeral service for Fred TENNANT, Lincoln, Ark., 67, was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Sugar Hill Community church near Lincoln, with the Rev. Walter PENNELL officiating. Burial was in the Ganderville Cemetery with Masonic rites.
Mr. TENNANT who was born January 22, 1893, near Prairie Grove, Ark., died Thursday in a Fayetteville hospital. He was a member of the Lincoln Methodist church and the Masonic Lodge, and was a bus driver for Lincoln Consolicdated School District for nineteen years.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Dexter TENNANT of the home; two sons, Vernon TENNANT of Brea, Calif., and Forrest TENNANT of Kansas City, Mo., one daughter, Mrs. Dana Ruth HARRELL of Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, John TENNANT of Westville and Hugh TENNANT of Oklahoma City, and five grandchildren.

YOUNG
Funeral rites for Willie YOUNG, 77, were held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock in the Assembly of God church, with the pastor, Rev. H.R. IGO officiating. Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
He was born February 12, 1883, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, the son of John and Mary PARKS YOUNG and died Sunday afternoon in the Stilwell hospital.
Mr. YOUNG was a retired farmer and a member of the Assembly of God church.
Survivors are his wife, Winona YOUNG of the home; eight daughters, Mrs. Myrtle ROBINSON, Drumright; Mrs. Beulah ROBISON and Mrs. Clara SIMPSON, Tulsa; Mrs. Gladys SMITH of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mrs. Norma CARTER, Victoria, Texas, Mrs. Lena GUSPINE and Mrs. Leona SHOFNER, McGregor, Texas, Mrs. Laverna HALE, Stinnett, Texas; four sons, Clarence of Pamona, Calif., Sam of Long Beach, Calif., Joe of North Sacramento, Calif., and Ed of Tulsa; two brothers, Henry and Bascom YOUNG, Louisa, Ky.; one sister, Mrs. Audrey RIFFE, Ashland, Ky.; 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

STUDER
Funeral service for Leo Rudolph STUDER, 63, prominent cattleman and cattle breeder, was held Wednesday morning in the Methodist Church at Siloam Springs, Ark., of which he was a member, with the pastor, Rev. G.B. AMES, officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs.
Mr. STUDER died Sunday in the Memorial hospital at Siloam Springs following an illness of four weeks. He was born May 9, 1896, in Kiowa, Kan., with his parents, he moved to Canadian, Texas, in 1914. Most of his adult life was spent on a ranch near Amarillo, Texas, where he was a stockman and breeder of registered cattle.
In 1950, he moved near Watts on a large ranch that he had purchased and continued as a cattle raiser and breeder, owning one of the finest herds of registered cattle in this area.
He and Mrs. Jessie BREWER were married May 9, 1953 and had resided in their beautiful ranch home since.
Mr. STUDER was a member of the Masonic Lodge, York Rite and Shrine.
Survivors are his wife, Jessie Mae of the home; one step-daughter, Mrs. Jack MASON, Ponca City; two sister, Mrs. Elise NORRIS, Westville, and Miss Alice STUDER, Chicago, Ill, and one grandchild.

COLVIN
Funeral service for Mrs. Allie Mae COLVIN, 76, former resident of Westville, was held Saturday morning in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd at Sapulpa. Mrs. COLVIN died Wednesday night in a Sapulpa hospital. Interment was in the South Heights Cemetery, Sapulpa.
A native of Arkansas, she with her husband, the late Clyde COLVIN and family, moved from Westville to Kiefer in 1923 and later to Sapulpa in 1947.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and of the Adsum Club, an organization of wives of Gulf Oil Company employees. She was a sister of the late Bill COLLYGE of Westville.
Survivors include three sons Charles G. COLVIN, Sapulpa, M. Kenneth COLVIN, Great Bend, Kan., and Kyle COLVIN, Alice, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie WILLIAMS, Miami, Okla., and Mrs. Millie ASLIN, Garden Grove, Calif.; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

COMSTOCK
Funeral service for Mrs. Winnie COMSTOCK, Westville's oldest citizen, was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating. Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery
Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON and Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL, accompanied by Mrs. Grover HOWARD, sang, "Beyond the Sunset," "Land Where We Never Grow Old" and "Lord, I'm Coming Home."
Mrs. COMSTOCK died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman NUNN and Mr. NUNN, with whom she lived.
She was born May 2, 1864, in Orange County, Alabama, during the War between the States. With her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel ROSE, in 1870 she moved to what was then the "Far West" to Sebastian County, Ark., near Fort Smith where they lived for a short time, then to Lee's Creek in adjoining Washington County, Ark., and lived there and on Cove Creek at Union Town for many years.
On December 28, 1879, she married Harvey COMSTOCK, who was a neighbor as well as her childhood sweetheart. It was in the same community they established their home and their ten children were born, all of whom are living.
In 1915 Mr. and Mrs. COMSTOCK moved to Westville, where they maintained their home until his death in 1940. She soon went to the home of Mr. and Mrs. NUNN and through the years since has lived there and with another son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford EDMISTON.
Many early days experiences in Arkansas were related by Mrs. COMSTOCK, and always heard with interest by her family and friends. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.
The survivors include the ten children, Mrs. Clifford EDMISTON, Mrs. Herman NUNN, Mrs. Rosa EDMISTON, Hardy COMSTOCK and Charley COMSTOCK, all of Westville; Gratis COMSTOCK of Oilton, Texas, Mrs. Jim CAMPBELL of Union Town, Ark.; Mrs. Rena MORTON of Porter, Okla.; Tony COMSTOCK of Marysville, Calif., Mrs. Cora BURGESS of Yuba City, Calif.; 34 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Onnie LEWALLEN, Mark EOFF, Calvin MOORE, Autry NUNN, Gratis EDMISTON and Dean PARKER. Flower bearers were Jerelene COMSTOCK, Marjie PARKER, Leta LEWALLEN, Hazel EOFF, Violet Gene MOORE and Junaita EDMISTON.

POWELL
Funeral service for Rufus Marvin POWELL, 76, was held Sunday morning, March 6th, at 10 o'clock in a Madill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edwin WALKER, pastor of the Methodist church officiating.
A second service was held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Methodist church at Temple, with the Rev. NETHERLANDS, pastor of the Primitive Baptist church at Temple, officiating. Burial was in the Temple Cemetery.
Mrs. POWELL was born July 15, 1883 at Minor Hill, Tenn., and died at his home in Madill Saturday morning, March 5, following an eight weeks illness.
Survivors include his wife, Deazzie Mae of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Mattie Ellen MOONEY of Madill; five sons, James POWELL of Phoenix, Arizona; W.W. POWELL, Westville; Paul POWELL, Lawton; Bass POWELL, Dodge City, Kansas; and Joe POWELL of Madill; one brother C.R. POWELL of Walters; one sister, Mrs. Mary COULSTON of Temple, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

BARNES
Elizabeth BARNES died at a rest home at Gentry, Ark., February 27. She was 76 years old. The funeral was held at Wedington Tuesday, with burial at the Wedington Cemetery. She was Onney BARNES' aunt, the last aunt he had living.

WHITMIRE
Funeral service for Hollis WHITMIRE was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Roberts Funeral Chapel, with Rev. E.L. WILSON, pastor of the Pentecostal Holiness church, officiating.
Mr. WHITMIRE ws born July 22, 1917 at Westville, the son of William and Alice WHITMIRE and died March 13, 1960 in Stilwell hospital from a heart ailment.
A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Walter CARLTON, Mrs. Calvin PHILLIPS and Mrs. Frank MOSS, accompanied by Mrs. John BUNNELL, sang three numbers, "When I Make My Last Move," "I'll Meet You By the River" and "Someone to Care."
Flowerbearers were Mr. Junior CHOATE, Mrs. Ben PERKINS, Mrs. Marvin CAGLE, Mrs. Nathaniel URICH and Mrs. Johnny MARTIN. Pallbearers were Jimmy BEACH, Junior CHOATE, Ben PERKINS, Marvin CAGLE, Johnny MARTIN and Nathaniel URICH.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen WHITMIRE; one son, Gary; one daughter, Linda; a brother, Jewel; and his father, William WHITMIRE, Westville; and one sister, Mrs. Ethel MILLICAN of California.

PIERCE
Funeral service for Henry A. PIERCE, 89, who died at his home Wednesday morning, was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel at Stilwell. Rev. Bud LACIE officiated. Burial was in the Stilwell City Cemetery.
He was born March 31, 1870 in Jamestown, Kansas.
Survivors are his wife and a daughter, Rosemary BRIGHT.

MORRIS
Funeral service for Thomas Richard MORRIS, 82, will be held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Baptist Mission church with the Rev. Howard D. DANIELS officiating.
Mr. MORRIS, a retired farmer, was born March 14, 1878 in the Indian Territory, near Westville and had lived in this area his entire life. He died Wednesday morning at 6:15 o'clock in the Russell Nursing Home following a long illness.
He and Miss Nettie PARKHURST were married in January, 1905, and had moved to Westville some three years ago, where they were living on North Williams street at the time of his death.
The survivors are his wife, Nettie; two daughters, Mrs. Hattie LESTER of Westville, and Mrs. Geraldine GLENN of Miami; one son, Charley MORRIS of Miami; one granddaughter, Cora Fay HILL of Siloam Springs, Ark.; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

STANSILL
Funeral rites for Hill STANSILL, 82, Cherokee Indian Leader, was held Sundy afternoon in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. G.H. CRITTENDEN, pastor of the First Baptist church at Stilwell, officiating. A quartet composed of Bud LACIE, Wayne LACIE, Billy and Commodore FOURKILLER, accompanied by Miss Leora LACIE, sang, "I Shall Not Be a Stranger," "I Will Meet You in the Morning," "Heaven Will Surely Be Worth it All." Interment was in the Downing Cemetery.
Mr. STANSILL was born at Baron, in Adair county, October 11, 1879, where he lived his entire life. He died at his home Thursday night, following a long illness. Mr. STANSILL, a retired farmer, was a leading figure in the Indian Loan Association, sponsored by the Indian Bureau. He was a member of the Inter-Tribal Council of the Five Civilized Tribes, representing the Cherokees. Having served as an officer in the Council for a number of years, he was a member of the executive committee at the time of his death.
No member of the Cherokee group was better informed as to legislation concerning Indian affairs than Mr. STANSILL. He was recognized as such and was called to Washington numbers of times when legislation was pending or to meet important committees in the interest of the Welfare of the Indians.
Not only was he interested in the welfare of the Indians, serving as an advisor to them, but was active and influential in politics as an ardent member of the Democratic party.
He was a member of the Baptist church at Baron.

The survivors include his wife, Alice of the home; six daughters, Mrs. Frank CLINTON and Mrs. Frances MORRIS of Westville, Mrs. Nancy LAMBERT, Arkansas City, Kan., Mrs. Fern BEGAY, Kings Canyon, Ariz., Mrs. Bertha WORKMAN, St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Sarah DEVINE, Klamath Falls, Oregon; one son, Arch STANSILL, Anderson, Mo.; one brother, Joe STANSILL, Tahlequah; three step-daughters and a number of grandchildren.

BEAN
Funeral service for James LaBree BEAN, 83, was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel at Stilwell, with the Rev. L.D. THOMAS, pastor of the Methodist church at Sallisaw, officiating.
He was born November 6, 1876 at Beans Corner, Hartland, Maine, and died in the Stilwell hospital Saturday, March 12.
Mr. BEAN began his elementary school at Beans Corner, graduating from the Shaw Business College in Portalnd, Maine, later attending Maine Central Institute at Pittsfield.
At the age of 21, he became a member of the Somerset Masonic Lodge No. 34, A.F.& A.M. at Shawhegan, Maine, where he held his membership for more than 61 years. He was the first member initiated in the Eastern Star when it was organized in Showhegan.
In 1907 he came west, locating in Missouri, then in Kansas, and later to Oklahoma, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Mr. BEAN and Miss Grace Lena OSBORN were married on February 25, 1895. To this union, five children were born.
Survivors include his wife, Grace of the home; two daughters, Bessie M. BEAN, also of the home, and Mary E. BEAN, Oklahoma city; two sons, Lewis A. BEAN, Pawhuska, George E. BEAN, Mt. Pocono, Penn.; five grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. A daughter, Elsie BEAN BLACK, preceded her father in death.
Burial was in the Stilwell Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

VAUGHN
Funeral rites were conducted March 11 in the Proctor Community Church for Mrs. Dora G. VAUGHN, with Rev. Ray COLE of Tahlequah officiating. The Dolly O'NEAL quartet sang three requested songs. Burial was in the Proctor Cemetery.
Mrs. VAUGHN was born April 27, 1897, in Arkansas and died March 8 at her home on Route 2, Westville.

Funeral service for Mrs. Mattie TULLIS, 72, was held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel. the Rev. J.W. BURROW, pastor of the First Baptist church at Grove officiated assisted by the Rev. Howard KITCHEN, pastor of the Westville Methodist church. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Fred ALLISON, Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL and Oscar SMITH accompanied by Mrs. Grover HOWARD, sang, "Beyond the Sunset," "Old Rugged Cross" and "Never Grow Old." Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mrs TULLIS was born November 4, 1887, Summers, Ark., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. HART, and died Thursday, March 17 in an Oklahoma City hospital, following a short illness. She and Mr. J.W. TULLIS were married December 27, 1903. They moved to the Westville community 51 years ago. Mr. TULLIS preceded her in death May 23, 1957.
Pallbearers were Earl EDDS, Ernest BUFFINGTON, Lorel SHANKEL, Ray STANFILL, Leslie ANDERSON and Cecil PATTERSON. Flower bearers were Miss Golda WILLIAMS, Miss Virginia GIBSON, Mrs. Milton STALCUP, Mrs. Lorel SHANKEL, Mrs. Art BLANTON, Mrs. Lee PICKENS and Mrs. Lelia WILEY.

TULLIS of Westville; a daughter, Mrs. Beulah STILL of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mrs. Dora BARNES, Prairie Grove, Ark., Mrs. Irene MORRIS, Tulsa; five brothers, Alfred HART, Stilwell, Mal HART, Talala, Rector and Austin HART, Glendale, Calif., and Hayden HART of Coleman, Texas; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

WATERS
Funeral service for Mrs. Ollie Ann WATERS, 81, will be held this afternoon at 2:00 in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with Rev. E.L. WILSON officiating. Burial will be in the Westville Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallberarers and granddaughters as flower bearers.
Mrs. WATERS was born August 21, 1878, in Hanesville, Kansas, and died Wednesday in the Stilwell hospital.
Survivors include her husband Clarence WATERS of the home; two daughters, Mrs. N.B. DALTON of Tulsa and Mrs. Harvey MENSCH of Leavenworth, Kansas; three sons, Earl and Robert OWENS of Tulsa, Ralph OWENS of California; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

ALBERTY
Funeral service for Clarence Henry (Pete) ALBERTY, 46, was held Tuesday afternoon in Moore's Memory Chapel at Tulsa. Interment was in a Kahoka, Mo., cemetery.
ALBERTY, who moved to Tulsa in 1953, was a pharmacist, was first associated with the Crown drug store and at the time of his death was with Billie's drug store.
He died Monday in a Tulsa hospital several hours after suffering a heart attack at his home.
Born near Westville, the son of the late Lee and Maggie ALBERTY, he attended the Westville schools and was a graduate of the local high school. He was a graduate of the Kansas City School of Pharmacy and served with the Medical Corps during World War 1.
The ALBERTY farm was the one now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Earl EDDS a mile east of Westville on U.S. highway 62.
He is survived by his wife, Billy, of the home; two brothers, Owen and Meryl ALBERTY, Los Angeles, Calif.

Fay ALBERTY, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. ALBERTY of Fillmore, Calif., died in a Ventura, Calif., hospital Thursday evening, March 28. Funeral service with burial was in Fillmore.
ALBERTY, who was born and reared in Westville, moved to California in 1931.
Survivors include his wife Donna; and two daughters, Donna and Darla, of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. ALBERTY; many relatives and friends in Westville.

TEMPLETON
Funeral rites for Floyd Ray TEMPLETON, 46, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Bud LACIE officiating. Mrs. LACIE and Wayne LACIE, accompanied by Miss Lenora LACIE, sang several hymns. Burial was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mr. TEMPLETON was born November 18, 1913 in Westville and died March 23 in Tulsa. He and Miss Lazora MARTIN were married April 27, 1937.
Pall bearers were Buck PALONE, Roscoe PILGRIM, Frank MORRIS, George LANGLEY, Clayton HOLLAND and Noah PARKHURST. Flower bearers were Mrs. Euna HOLLAND, Mrs. Carol LANGLEY, Mrs. Eulala PILGRIM, Mrs. Clara PILGRIM, Mrs. Rena MARTIN and Mrs. Mary PALONE.

Mr. and Mrs. J.E. BURKE have returned from Portales, New Mexico, where they attended the funeral of Mrs. BURKE's father, E.J. OLDHAM, 81.

Mrs. C.G. RUSSELL has returned from Hutchinson, Kansas, where she was called by the death of her mother, Mrs. Irene MOULCON, 69, who died March 24, following an illness of three years.
Funeral service was held Monday, March 28, at Hutchinson, with burial in a Hutchinson Cemetery.
Other than Mrs. RUSSELL, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. LOIAYER of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

CAMPBELL
Funeral service for Herbert CAMPBELL, 62, was held Monday afternoon in the Community church at Proctor with the Rev. H.R. IGO, pastor of the Westville Assembly of God church officiating. Burial was in the Proctor Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Mr. CAMPBELL was born December 27, 1897, at Gore, the son of William L. and Susie Wagner CAMPBELL and died on April 2, 1960 in the Elizabeth Hospital at Prairie Grove, Ark.
He was a retired farmer and had lived in the Proctor community for the past 12 years.
Survivors include his wife, Janie, of the home; a son, Sonny CAMPBELL, Kansas City, Kan.; a daughter, Mrs. Jewell FORD of Selah, Wash.; four grandchildren; two brothers, William D. EATON
Funeral service for Mrs. (Mae) E.D. EATON, 80, of Vinita, mother of Mrs. Robert SLATE of Westville, was held Sunday afternoon, March 27, at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church at Welch, with the Rev. V.V. VOSS, pastor, officiating.
Mrs. EATON died in a Vinita hospital March 25 following an illness of several years.
She was born February 7, 1880 near Yanktown, (i.e.) South Dakota.
Coming to Oklahoma, she and Mr. EATON first established their home at Porter where they lived for 12 years, Claremore one year and 29 years at Welch from where they moved to Vinita 12 years ago.
Survivors are her husband, E.D. EATON; two sons, Leslie EATON, Detroit, Mich.; Hubert EATON, San Jose, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert SLATE, Westville; Mrs. Viola BOLLINGER, Bartlesville; Mrs. Iva STUDENT, Vinita; and ten grandchildren.
Interment was March 28, 10 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery at Vinita.

GRIFFIN
Fueral rites for Frank Lewis GRIFFIN, 47, owner and operator of Ithyl's Service Station were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. H.R. IGO, pastor of the Assembly of God church, officiating, assisted by Rev. Howard KITCHEN, pastor of the Methodist church. Leora, Janet and Pauline LACIE, accompanied by Mrs. John BUNNELL, sang "Peace in the Valley" and "He Bought My Soul at Calvary."
Mr. GRIFFIN died suddenly Sunday morning, April 3, following a heart attack at his home. He was born July 2, 1912, at Siloam Springs. Interment was in the Siloam Springs cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Mrs. Judy Lorraine BYNUM, was held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Community church at Proctor, with the Rev. G.H. CRITTENDEN, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Stilwell, officiating. Mrs. BYNUM was born February 15, 1945, at Proctor and died April 5 in the Stilwell hospital.

Mr. RITCHIE was born August 8, 1885 at Chattanooga, Tenn., the son of Mr. and Mrs. John RITCHIE and died April 12, in Oklahoma City.
Interment was in the Westville Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

MCCLURE
Funeral rites for Mrs. Florence Virginia MCCLURE, were held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. H.R. IGO, pastor of the Assembly of God officiating. Mrs. MCCLURE was born in Alabama, April 20, 1873, and died Sunday, April 17, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E.C. PARSONS. Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.

DEWART
Funeral rites for Miss Evelyn Alice DEWART, 21, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Christie school with the Rev. G.H. CRITTENDEN, pastor of the Stilwell Baptist church officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Claud STEPHENSON and Mr. and Mrs. Olin STEPHENSON sang several hymns, accompanied by Miss STEPHENSON. Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
Miss DEWART died at her home in the Christie community, Saturday, April 16. She was born September 6, 1938 at Prairie Grove, Ark., the daughter of Charles DEWART and the late Mrs. DEWART.
She was a graduate of the Westville high school and was a sophomore student at the Northeastern State College, in Tahlequah at the time of her death.
Pallbearers were R.F. MURRIE, Oscar LAWSON, Jess BUTLER, Pack RAINES, Harlan WEBB and E.N. OXFORD. Flower bearers were Mrs. Sue HEMBREE, Miss Sandra ROSE and Miss Pat ROSE.
The survivors are her father, Charles DEWART of the home; one brother, Charles DEWART, Jr., of Tulsa; one sister, Mrs. Virginia TOMLINSON of Fort Rucker, Alabama; grandfather, O.L. FRAZIER, of Stilwell.

HAWS
Funeral service for Mrs. Grace HAWS, 60, was held Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the Culver chapel at Tahlequah, with the Rev. R.H. IGO, pastor of the Assembly of God church, officiating.
Mrs. HAWS, who died at her home in Westville, April 13, was born January 24, 1900, in Joplin, Mo. She was married to E.E. (Dudley) HAWS, November 3, 1932.
Interment was in the Tahlequah Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kline YEAGER, Roy YEAGER, R.C. EASTMAN, Roy MALLOY, Jack ROSS, Vernon LOFLIN.

GIBSON
Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Louise (Albert) GIBSON, 49, of Tahlequah, was held Sunday afternoon in the Reed-Culver Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Eldon SEAMAN, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating.
Interment was in the Tahlequah City Cemetery. Pall bearers were Bob CREW, Kelley DAVIS, Bob PARKER, Rex PRESSLEY, Buster GAMBLE, C.F. BLISS, Guy LOOKABOUGH and J.C. RHOADS.
Mrs. GIBSON died Friday evening at her home, following a brief illness. She was born March 8, 1911 at Springdale, Ark.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Gray Ladies in Tahlequah.
The survivors are her husband, Dr. Albert GIBSON, D.D.S., a son, Dr. Gilbert GIBSON, d.d.S., of Lawton; one grandchild; her mother, Mrs. C.A. OWENBY of Springdale, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Keith WILSON, Independence, Mo.; two brothers, Carl A. OWENBY, Farmington, Ark., and George OWENBY, Springdale.

BOWLES
Mrs. Eva Leona BOWLES, 27, and three of her four children, Roxanne 7, Roger 2, and Debrah, 9 months, perished in a fire early Monday morning in their home, that was completely destroyed. The fourth child Robert 6, who escaped, ran to his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert BOWLES, who live next door, to report the fire.
Firemen were called from Stilwell, but before they arrived the home was completely destroyed. Jim Morris, fireman, said it appeared Mrs. Bowles was attempting to build a fire and pouring kerosene there was an explosion. The children were all found in bed. It appeared that Mrs. Bowles had tried to reach a door, Morris said.
The father, Max BOWLES, was in Siloam Springs at the time of the fire. It was his first day on a job at Plus Poultry, after having been unemployed for several months.
The BOWLES family had lived in Baron all of their lives.
Graveside service for Mrs. BOWLES and the three children was held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock in the Downing Cemetery at Baron, with Roberts Funeral Home in charge.

THURMAN
Funeral service for Mrs. Nora THURMAN was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Edwin L. BEEM, pastor of the Christian church officiating. Members of the LACIE family, accompanied by Miss Leora LACIE, sang.
Mrs. THURMAN died Friday April 29 at Stilwell. She was born October 7, 1892 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.F. RAGLAND.
In 1909 she was married to Samuel E. CHANEY and to this union two children were born. She and Finis THURMAN were married in 1948, he preceding her in death in 1957.

SIXKILLER
Funeral service for Dennis W. SIXKILLER, 73, was held Sunday afternoon, May 7, in the Baptist church at Watts, with burial in Bell Cemetery. Mr. SIXKILLER, a lifelong resident of the community West of Watts, died following a heart attack, probably on May 4th.
Because of his failure to return home by late afternoon, his son, Sam SIXKILLER and his daughter Mrs. Margaret BAGBY, went out to look for him and soon found the body in a pasture, near the home, where he had suffered the attack.
For years, Mr. SIXKILLER had been an active farmer and ranchman, although retired at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha, of the home; two sons, Sam SIXKILLER of Watts and Blue SIXKILLER of Siloam Springs, Ark.; four daughters, Margaret BAGBY, Watts, Mrs. Cora REED, Vinita, Mrs. Fay GREGORY, Tulsa, Mrs. Helen HOSACK, Rantoul, Ill.; one brother, Lincoln SIXKILLER of Westville; two sisters, Mrs. Kate HADDOCK, Westville, Mrs. Reta LESTER, Ajlune, Wash.; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mrs. Mary E. CRITTENDEN, 70, was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Proctor Community church, with the Rev. Roy RUST of Tahlequah officiating.
Mrs. CRITTENDEN was born May 6, 1890, at Proctor, the daughter of John and Lizzie BRANTLEY and died May 9, in the Tahlequah city hospital. Burial was in the Proctor Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

BELL
The body of a retired farmer of Watts, Okla., was found Friday, May 13, in the Illinois River near Watts after the victim suffered an apparent heart attack while fishing.
Sheriff R.L. SWEPSTON of Adair County identified the man as Henry BELL, age 70, who lived on a farm south of Watts. He said BELL had fallen out of the boat but his arm draped over the trotline and kept him from sinking. He had been dead apparently since some Thursday.
Mr. BELL was born near Siloam Springs, Ark., April 29, 1890, and had been a life long resident of Northwest Ark., and Adair and Delaware counties in Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Nancy and John BELL, early settlers of this community.
Survivors include two sons, Mack of Rico Rivera, Calif., and Charles B. of Little Rock; two daughters, Mrs. Sadie TUTHILL of El Monte, Calif., and Mrs. Nancy BROWN of Rico Rivera, Calif.; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. John TILLERY of Siloam Springs, Mrs. Emma TUTHILL, Pryor, Okla., and Mrs. Jane BURGE, Sanara, Calif.
Funeral service was held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Bethel church with Rev. Jerry HOPKINS officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery by the Wasson Funeral Home.

MARSHALL
Funeral service for John Mark MARSHALL, 44, Westville, was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in the Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel in Tahlequah, Okla., with Rev. Max Squyers, Baptist minister, officiating.
Burial was in the Proctor cemetery with Russell HITCHCOCK, Hite STRICKLER, Q.M. TAYLOR, Bill TOWNSEND, Ish KNIGHT and Bill PESTEL serving as pall bearers.
Mr. MARSHALL died Monday of injuries received May 25, when a pickup in which he was riding overturned on the Turner Turnpike nine miles east of Bristow entrance. The driver, Kenneth COMBS, 38 of Shawnee, was killed in the crash.
He and his father, Hiram MARSHALL, Sr., became Strawberry Kings of Cherokee county for several years after he moved there in 1933. He later became a trucker and stockman.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy; a son, Johnny Lee and a daughter Nancy Jane, all of the home; his mother, Mrs. Blanch MARSHALL, Rt. 2, Westville; a brother, Hiram Jr., Rt. 2, Westville; and two sisters, Mrs. Jens JENKINS and Mrs. Mary Jane STONE, both of Tulsa.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl HILL attended the funeral of his uncle, George Washington HILL, at Pensecola, Okla., Tuesday afternoon, in the Methodist church with Rev. Buddy MARKER of Strange officiating.
Mr. HILL died at his home in Big Cabin, June 26, 1960.
Burial was in the Ghormley Cemetery in Pensacola under the direction of Roberts Funeral home.

HOLLAND
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha BREWER HOLLAND were held Monday afternoon, June 27 in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. W.E. WEST, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Mrs. Charles BROOKS and Mrs. George MURRAY, accompanied by Mrs. Robert EFFENBERGER, sang, "I'll Meet You in the Morning," "Never Grow Old," and "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be." Interment was in the Westville Cemetery. Pallbearers and flower bearers were grandsons and granddaughters.
Mrs. HOLLAND was born in Arkansas, March 26, 1881, and died June 25, 1960. She was married December 8, 1902 to Ulyssis HOLLAND, who preceded her in death April 28, 1949. She has been a member of the Methodist Church for several years.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Lizzie COLLINS, Mrs. Ollie COLLINS, Siloam Springs, Ark., Mrs. Pearl LOWE, Mrs. Mildred TURNER, Mrs. Beulah MASTERS of Westville; three sisters, Mrs. Willie HAYS, Tulsa, Mrs. Dicie EARP, Barber, Ark., Mrs. Bessie MAXWELL, Stonewall; 23 grandchildren; and 33 great grandchildren.

POWELL
Funeral services for Hardie James POWELL were held Sunday afternoon, June 26 in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert HIGHLAND, accompanied by Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, sang, "The Old Rugged Cross," and "It Is Well With My Soul." Burial was in the Westville Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Donald KINDLE, Robert SLATE, Byron HORTSHORNE, Paul CARRINGTON, Carl JACKSON and Raymond JARRETT. Flower bearers were Mrs. Tom STILL, Mrs. Dennis BUSHYHEAD, Clara WILLIAMS and Gertrude GAINES.
Mr. POWELL was born November 18, 1900 and died June 24, 1960, in the Stilwell hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; four sons, Hardie Jr., of Wichita, Kan., Robert of Birmingham, Ala., Raymond of Livermore, Calif., Arthur of Mobile, Ala.; two daughters, Mrs. Tommy Ray SMITH of Rhode Island, Mrs. Evelyn LAWLEY, Ala.; 13 grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.

BURKE
Funeral service for George Edmund BURKE was held June 13 at Blackwell, Okla., with Dr. Harry ROARK, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating.
Military rites were conducted with the I.O.O.F. Cemetery by the Blackwell American Legion Post.
Mr. BURKE, a veteran of World War 1 was born at Hot Springs, Ark., May 30, 1892 and died June 10 in the Veterans hospital at Little Rock, Ark., after a long illness.
He and Miss Gertrude BEAVERS were married July 14, 1924 and lived in the Blackwell community until 1948 when they moved to Westville.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude of Westville and one sister, Mrs. Ethel CLEVELAND, Prospect Heights, Ill., several nieces and nephews.

SPINKS
The community was greatly saddened by the sudden tragic death of Jack SPINKS, who was fatally injured in a two-car collision near Stockton, Kan., June 31st and who passed away at Hadley Memorial Hospital in Hays on Friday, July 1 at the age of 27.
Mr. SPINKS and his family moved to Hoxie in 1957 to be on the teaching staff of Sheridan Community High School.
Jackie Lee SPINKS was born to John and Gladys SPINKS at Stilwell, Okla., February 15, 1933. His father preceded him in death in 1943. He attended both grade and high school at Westville, Okla., and was salutatorian of his graduating class of 1951. He participated in sports throughout high school and they were very much a part of his life.
He was united in marriage to Christine PIERCE of Muskogee, Okla., August 4, 1952, and to this union two children were born.
Mr. SPINKS attended Bacone Junior College at Muskogee, where he was on the football team. He had the honor of being all conference center in 1952, playing on the Bacone team against Hartneil Junior College, Salinas, Calif., in the Junior Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, Calif., in 1953. He was valedictorian of his graduating class of 1953 and a member of the Dean's Honor Roll both years. At Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, he lettered in football both years and was amember of Rho Theta, Industrial Arts, and Lettermen's Clubs, was on the Dean's Honor Roll both years, and was graduated in the spring of 1955 with a B.S. degree, with his Major being Industrial Arts and his minor Physical Education. Immediately following graduation, he taught two years at Kanorado, where he coached football, basketball, baseball and track, before moving to Hoxie.
Mr. SPINKS was a member of the Christian church and was very active in church work, serving as Sunday School Superintendent for two years. He took his religion very seriously as he did whatever he undertook. He not only believed the Bible, but practiced its teachings. He was a member of the Hoxie Lions club, and participated in other civic activities.
Mr. SPINKS is survived by his wife, Christine; children, Jackie Lee, age 5, and Christie Ann, age 3, all of the home. Also surviving is his mother, Mrs. Gladys SPINKS and a sister, Miss Sue SPINKS, both of Westville, Okla. Also, a sister, Mrs. G.B. EAGLETON of Tulsa, Okla., and a host of friends and relatives.
Services were held in the Roberts Funeral Home Chapel, Westville, at 2:00 p.m. Monday July 4, with Rev. Eugene BIBY officiating. Burial was in the Westville Cemetery.

PULLIAM
Funeral service for Colin L. PULLIAM, 62, who died Sunday in Tahlequah hospital was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church with Rev. W.E. WEST officiating. Burial was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mr. PULLIAM was born Pittsburg, Kan., and lived in Watts before coming to Westville in 1919. He was a Kansas City Southern and Frisco Railway mail clerk before becoming a rural carrier in 1953.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and First Methodist church here. He was a veteran of World War 1.
Surviving are his wife, Minnie M.; a son, David L. of Bangor, Maine and two grandchildren.

WILLIAMS
Jim WILLIAMS, 76, died June 25 in the Reinolds Rest Home. Funeral service was held June 27 in the Baptist church at Kansas, Okla., with interment in the Kansas Cemetery.
Survivors include three brothers, one sister, several nieces and nephews.

KECK
Funeral service for W.F. KECK, 75, will be held this afternoon at 1 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. W.E. WEST, pastor of the Westville Methodist church officiating.
Mr. KECK died at his home, Wednesday morning at 12:30 o'clock following several months illness. He was born March 11, 1885 on a farm near Pettegrew, in Madison County, Ark., the son of Bud and Margaret KECK, and lived in that community through the years, until five years ago when he and Mrs. KECK moved to their rural home, one mile east of Westville on U.S. highway 62.
As a young man, he entered the teaching profession and taught in Madison county schools for a number of years. Later he established a mercantile business in Pettegrew, as well as a lumber business and a canning factory, these he owned and operated until his retirement in 1955 when he and Mrs. KECK moved to Westville. His first wife, Mrs. Hazel KECK, died in 1936 and their only daughter died in 1953.
Mr. KECK and Mrs. Fay MCMILLEN were married in 1938. He was an active member of the Methodist church, having served as Superintendent of the Sunday School at Pettegrew for more than 40 years.
Immediately upon establishing their new home in the Westville community, he moved his church membership to the local Methodist church, and was teacher of the Adult Bible class until his health began to fail last April.
Interment will be in the Brashears Cemetery in his native county of Arkansas under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School class.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fay KECK of the home; a granddaughter, Dora Beth WILLIAMS of Kirksville, Mo.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Tilford HARRELL, Fayetteville, Ark.; three brothers, I.H. KECK, Branson, Mo., D.H. KECK, Pettegrew, Ark.; Pearl KECK, Boston, Ark., and a numbe of nieces and nephews.

COLLYGE
Funeral service for Mrs. Birdie L. COLLYGE, 85 was held Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. in Roberts Funeral Chapel the Rev. Raymond COOLEY, pastor of the Methodist church, Heavener, former pastor of Westville church officiated, assisted by the Rev. W.E. WEST, present pastor of the Westville church. Mrs. George MURRAY and Mrs. Charles BROOKS, accompanied by Mrs. Robert EFFENBERGER, sang "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be," and "In the Sweet By and By." Duane RATLIFF, also accompanied by Mrs. EFFENBERGER sang, "Beyond the Sunset." Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mrs. COLLYGE, a long time resident of Westville, moved to Afton, six years ago, where she continued to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde ASHFORD. It was in an Afton hospital where she died Wednesday, July 6, following a stroke she suffered three days previous.
Mrs. COLLYGE was born August 29, 1756, in Jackson County, Ark. She was a member of the local Methodist church. Mr. COLLYGE preceded her in death in 1940.
Pall bearers were Regan RATLIFF, Clyde RATHER, Bill TULLIS, Leslie CARRINGTON, Son JONES and Earl WELCHEL.

SHARP
Funeral service for John William SHARP, 87, of West Fork, Ark., father of Carthel (Bill) SHARP of Westville, was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Fall Creek church. Burial was in the Fall Creek Cemetery. Mr. SHARP, a life long resident of West Fork, died suddenly Sunday morning following a heart attack.
He and Miss Lida SWIFT of Strickler were married December 12, 1897.
Mr. SHARP's brother, Mr. Clyde SHARP of Coalinga, California, whom he had not seen for 41 years, arrived Saturday unexpectedly for a visit and it was while the two brothers were visiting Sunday morning that he suffered a heart attack and died suddenly.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Vida SHARP of the home; two son, Carthel (Bill) of Westville and John SHARP of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Alda COPELAND and Mrs. Anna QUINTON, West Fork; Mrs. Maggie JENSEN, Broken Arrow and Mrs. Gertrude YEAGER of Tulsa; two brothers, Clyde and Ed SHARP of Coalinga, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Maud SAYLER, Lomita, Calif.; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

REESE
Funeral service for John REESE, 76, was held at the Proctor Community church, Sunday, July 17, with Rev John HALSLEY of Tahlequah, officiating. The O'Neal quartet sang three hymns. Burial was in the Proctor Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Claude KINDLE, Ancil MAGGARD, Else KINDLE, Harold SCAGGS, Charley CORN and Crockett YOUNG.
Mr. REESE was born December 18, 1884 at Proctor and died July 14, 1960 at the city hospital in Tahlequah.
Survivors include his wife, Lela; two sons, Lester of Blackwell, Chester of South Carolina; three daughters, Mrs. Bernie KINDLE, Proctor, Mrs. Jim MOSS of Tulsa, Mrs. Clyde HAMILTON of Blackwell; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral service for Riley R. PARK was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wade CHEATUM of Lincoln, Ark., officiating. Members of the Church Christ sang three hymns. Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mr. PARK was born March 20, 1878 in Missouri and died July 25 in the Russell Nursing Home, Westville.
He had made his home with his niece Mrs. T.A. GOODMAN for the past five years.
Pallbearers were Cy RUSSELL, Harold WALKER, Levey COOPER, Marvin CLAYTON, Orlando ESKRIDGE, Johnny COX. Flower bearers were also members of the Church of Christ.

Funeral service for Robert E. JEFFERY, 84, was held Wednesday morning, August 3, at 10 o'clock in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wade CHEATUM, Lincoln, Ark., officiating. Mr. Jeffery was born October 4, 1875, and died July 30, 1960. He has been a resident of Westville for the past eleven years.

MONTGOMERY
Word has been received by friends of the death last week of J.P. MONTGOMERY, former resident of Westville, in Pittsburg, Kan., with burial in Rocky Comfort, Mo.
Mr. MONTGOMERY was a member of the Westville school faculty. As the first basketball coach, it was the beginning of basketball in Westville schools in 1915.
At the time of his death, he was a member of the Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, La.

FOWLER
Funeral service for George Leonard FOWLER, 85, will be held this morning at 10:30 in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating.
Mr. FOWLER, a retired farmer, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at his home in Westville, however he had been ill for several weeks. He was born January 8, 1895 in Iowa, the son of Jasper and Julia FOWLER. When a small child he with his parents, moved to Macon County, Mo.
In 1927 he and Mrs. Bertha RAKESTRAW were married in Pea Ridge, Ark. They lived at Farmington and Lincoln, Ark., before moving to Westville 9 year ago, following his retirement. He was member of the First Baptist church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bertha FOWLER of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Carrie MYER, San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Hazel WILLIAMS, Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Grace BOATRIGHT, Grove, Mrs. Mildred ST.CLAIR and Mrs. Vesta Gail EVANS of Tulsa; also a son by a former marriage.

FIELDS
Mrs. Thomas (Jennie) FIELDS, 85, a former resident of Westville, died Monday afternoon at her home in Tulsa.
Mr. and Mrs. FIELDS, with their family, moved from Westville in 1917 and lived at Kiefer and Mounds before moving to Tulsa. Mr. FIELDS died in 1924.
While living in Westville, Mrs. FIELDS was active in the First Baptist church. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Tulsa.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Bess MONKRES of the home; Mrs. Marie MITCHELL and Mrs. Nathalia MILLER of Tulsa; Mrs. Bertha TURNER of Modesto, Calif.; Mrs. Beulah SNAVELY, of Long Beach, Calif.; one son, Bert FIELDS, Sapulpa; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

HAGAN
Funeral rites for George Monroe HAGAN, 78, pioneer Adair County citizen and school teacher were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church and the Rev. Albert (Bud) LACIE, a former pupil of Mr. HAGAN officiating. Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, Mrs. George MURRAY and Fred ALLISON, accompanied by Mrs. Grover HOWARD, sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Shall We Gather at the River."
Mr. HAGAN, who had been ill for several months, part time a patient in the hospital and at home, was returned to the hospital Monday. Death came unexpectedly in the late afternoon of the same day, August 15.
He was born October 3, 1882, at Uniontown, Ark., the son of Mr. and Mrs. D.C. HAGAN. He married Miss Addie Lee GIBNEY of Dutch Mills, Ark., were married June 14, 1884 (obvious misprint) at Fayetteville, Ark. They established their home at Evansville, Ark., where Mr. HAGAN taught school and farmed. He later carried the mail on horseback between Evansville and Stilwell.
He served as professor in the History and Education Department at Northeastern College for a number of years was a teacher in several rural schools in Adair County; was superintendent of schools in Adair County; a member of the Stilwell High School faculty; was superintendent of Westville schools for nine years.
He was carrier on the first rural mail route out of Stilwell, carrying the mail in a one horse buggy; was Postmaster at Stilwell for four years during World War 1; during World War 11 he served with the War Manpower Commission at Pryor, Tulsa and McAlester.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Westville, having served as Deacon in the church.
Mr. and Mrs. HAGAN observed their 50th wedding anniversary, June 17, 1956.
Burial was in the Westville Cemetery under th direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Mrs. M.L. (Ollie Mae) EVANS, 67, was held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock in the Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Muleshoe Cemetery, Muleshoe, Tecas.
Mrs. EVANS was born November 17, 1892, in Smithville, Miss., and died August 11 in the Stilwell hospital.

ALBERTY
Funeral service for Dr. Watie ALBERTY, 67, was held August 8 in Lewis Colonial Mortuary at San Diego, Calif. Cremation followed the service, with interment in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
He died August 5th in a San Diego hospital.
Dr. ALBERTY, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.M. ALBERTY, was born and reared in the Westville community where he lived until he entered as a student in the University of Kansas, where he graduated from the School of Medicine.
He was a heart specialist, retiring at San Diego in 1958 after more than 40 years of practice.
During World War 1 he served with the U.S. Army Medical Crops. in Scotland and during World War 11 at the Naval Hospital at San Diego.
Dr. ALBERTY entered practice as a general practitioner and became a heart specialist in later years.
From 1922 to 1955, he was on the staff at Mercy Hospital in San Diego.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge; the University Club; San Diego Medical Society and American Medical Association.
Survivors include his wife, Edna of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret BROADED of San Diego; a son, Watie Jr., of La Mesa, Calif.; a brother and a sister.
Mrs. W.W. ALBERTY and Mrs. Geroge GIBSON of Westville are cousins.

WILKIE
John WILKIE, 66 of Stilwell, formerly of Westville community was killed Monday by Kansas City Southern freight train, apparently as he tried to cross the tracks between cars.
County Sheriff R.L. SWEPSTON said it appeared he was trapped between the switching cars before he had crossed the track on the other side of the train.
WILKIE's body was found by Charlie MADISON, a railroad brakeman and Bill COLLINS, road master at the Stilwell yard.
Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Roberts Funeral Home Chapel at Stilwell, with the Rev. G.H. CRITTENDEN, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Leonard STEWART.
Survivors include his wife, Edna of the home; one son, Jim HUGO; two daughters, Mrs. Maxine RITTER and Mrs. Norman BOND of Stilwell; 8 grandchildren.

PALONE
Funeral service for John PALONE, 77, was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack STEELE of Siloam Springs, officiating.
He was born near Westville, (Indian Territory) March 10, 1883, the son of Susan and Adam PALONE, early settlers in Indian Territory, where he was reared and lived until he moved to Poteau in 1942, where he died at his home, August 11. Mr. PALONE was a member of the Christian church at Poteau.
Burial was in the Westville Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Pall bearers were Owen BUFFINGTON, Tom WOODS, Melvin SMITH, Marvin CAGLE and Regan RATLIFF.

Funeral service for Robert E. JEFFERY, 84, was held Wednesday morning, August 3, at 10 o'clock in the Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wade CHEATUM, Lincoln, Ark., officiating. Hymns were presented by the members of the Church of Christ. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery at Wewoka. Pallbearers and flower bearers were members of the family.
Mr. Jeffery was born October 4, 1875, and died July 30, 1960. He has been a resident of Westville for the past eleven years.

MONTGOMERY
Word has been received by friends of the death last week of J.P. MONTGOMERY, former resident of Westville, in Pittsburg, Kan., with burial in Rocky Comfort, Mo.
Mr. MONTGOMERY was a member of the Westville school faculty. As the first basketball coach, it was the beginning of basketball in Westville schools in 1915.
At the time of his death, he was a member of the Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, La.

FOWLER
Funeral service for George Leonard FOWLER, 85, will be held this morning at 10:30 in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating.
Mr. FOWLER, a retired farmer, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at his home in Westville, however he had been ill for several weeks. He was born January 8, 1895 in Iowa, the son of Jasper and Julia FOWLER. When a small child he with his parents, moved to Macon County, Mo.
In 1927 he and Mrs. Bertha RAKESTRAW were married in Pea Ridge, Ark. They lived at Farmington and Lincoln, Ark., before moving to Westville 9 year ago, following his retirement. He was member of the First Baptist church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bertha FOWLER of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Carrie MYER, San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Hazel WILLIAMS, Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Grace BOATRIGHT, Grove, Mrs. Mildred ST.CLAIR and Mrs. Vesta Gail EVANS of Tulsa; also a son by a former marriage.

FIELDS
Mrs. Thomas (Jennie) FIELDS, 85, a former resident of Westville, died Monday afternoon at her home in Tulsa.
Mr. and Mrs. FIELDS, with their family, moved from Westville in 1917 and lived at Kiefer and Mounds before moving to Tulsa. Mr. FIELDS died in 1924.
While living in Westville, Mrs. FIELDS was active in the First Baptist church. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Tulsa.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Bess MONKRES of the home; Mrs. Marie MITCHELL and Mrs. Nathalia MILLER of Tulsa; Mrs. Bertha TURNER of Modesto, Calif.; Mrs. Beulah SNAVELY, of Long Beach, Calif.; one son, Bert FIELDS, Sapulpa; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

HAGAN
Funeral rites for George Monroe HAGAN, 78, pioneer Adair County citizen and school teacher were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church and the Rev. Albert (Bud) LACIE, a former pupil of Mr. HAGAN officiating. Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, Mrs. George MURRAY and Fred ALLISON, accompanied by Mrs. Grover HOWARD, sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Shall We Gather at the River."
Mr. HAGAN, who had been ill for several months, part time a patient in the hospital and at home, was returned to the hospital Monday. Death came unexpectedly in the late afternoon of the same day, August 15.
He was born October 3, 1882, at Uniontown, Ark., the son of Mr. and Mrs. D.C. HAGAN. He married Miss Addie Lee GIBNEY of Dutch Mills, Ark., were married June 14, 1884 (obvious misprint) at Fayetteville, Ark. They established their home at Evansville, Ark., where Mr. HAGAN taught school and farmed. He later carried the mail on horseback between Evansville and Stilwell.
He served as professor in the History and Education Department at Northeastern College for a number of years was a teacher in several rural schools in Adair County; was superintendent of schools in Adair County; a member of the Stilwell High School faculty; was superintendent of Westville schools for nine years.
He was carrier on the first rural mail route out of Stilwell, carrying the mail in a one horse buggy; was Postmaster at Stilwell for four years during World War 1; during World War 11 he served with the War Manpower Commission at Pryor, Tulsa and McAlester.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Westville, having served as Deacon in the church.
Mr. and Mrs. HAGAN observed their 50th wedding anniversary, June 17, 1956.
Burial was in the Westville Cemetery under th direction of Roberts Funeral Home.

Funeral services for George W. HOWARD, 89, was held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Proctor Community church, with the Rev. Leonard STEWART officiating. Music was furnished by the Dolly O'NEAL Quartet of Stilwell. Burial was in the Proctor Cemetery.
Mr. HOWARD was born March 8, 1871, in Fentress County, Tennessee, and died at his home southwest of Westville, Friday morning, August 26. He was married to Miss Martha PHILLIPS, March 16, 1896. He had been a member of the Baptist church 56 years.
Pall bearers were Phillip HOWARD, Billy HOWARD, Lee OWENS, Gary BUTLER and Jess BUTLER. Flower bearers were Mrs. Billy HOWARD, Misses Winnie HOWARD, Gloria HOWARD, Gail HOWARD, Phyllis HOWARD and Patricia OWENS.

PERKINS
Funeral rites for the Rev. T.J. PERKINS, 82, were held Monday afternoon, August 29 at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Luther LITTLEFIELD and Rev. J.C. BLAIR officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Claud STEVENSON and daughter, Miss Joyce Ann STEVENSON sang, "We Shall Rise," "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and "Precious Memories." Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
Rev. PERKINS was born in Kentucky February 21, 1878, and died Friday afternoon, August 28, in the Stilwell hospital. Early in life he became a Christian and entered the Missionary Baptist ministry in 1898.
He and Miss Susie BLANKENSHIP were married October 29, 1903. To this union were born eleven children, four of whom with their mother, preceded him in death. On July 1, 1929 he married Minervia LINKLITER, who died December 6, 1959.

POWELL
Funeral service for William Wilson POWELL (Billy) 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. William POWELL, was held Saturday afternoon in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating. Accompanied by Mrs. Grover HOWARD, Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON, Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL and Fred ALLISON sang, "A Little Talk with Jesus," "Beyond the Sunset," "God Will Take Care of You," and "Sweet Bye and Bye." Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
Billy was born March 19, 1948 at Prairie Grove, Ark., and died Wednesday evening, August 24, in the County hospital at Fayetteville, Ark., following a week's illness.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and was a regular attendant at Sunday School, church and Training Union. He was one of the group from Westville who attended the Baptist Youth Camp in July at the Lutherhoma Camp Grounds.
The relatives and friends, who more than filled the chapel for the funeral service, and the large floral offering was a tribute to Billy, demonstrating love and admiration for him.
Active pallbearers were Kenneth TILLERY, Tony CAGLE, Donald Paul CARRINGTON, Phillip ISMAEL, Bill GROOMS and Jerry CARLTON. Honorary pallbearers, Seventh grade school students of which he was a member and Butch ALDERSON and Andy John AKIN. Flower bearers were Pat TILLERY, Jerrie Lou JONES, Ann Leinn BOWLES, Jo MURRAY, Eugenia MORRIS, Sheryl and Marcia BLANTON.
The survivors include his parents; one brother, Melvin POWELL; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E.E. DILKS of Walters and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. R.M. POWELL, Madill; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral service for Chester Allen KIRK, 45, who died Sunday at his home near Westville, was held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Baptist church at Summers, Ark. The Rev. Devoe WHITLEY and the Rev. Fred WATSON were officiants. Burial was in the Ganderville Cemetery.
Mr. KIRK is survived by his wife, Avis, Siloam Springs; 2 sons, Ray KIRK, Des Moines, Iowa; and Rogers KIRK, of the home; a brother, Logan KIRK of Lincoln and two sisters, Mrs. Zella MCCRARY and Mrs. Susie GARNER, Westville.

FUSSELMAN
Funeral service for C.E. FUSSELMAN, 88, pioneer citizen of Westville, was held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. W.E. WEST, pastor of the Methodist church, and the Rev. Raymond COOLEY of Heavener, former pastor of the church, officiating. Robert O. HIGHLAND, accompanied by Mrs. Robert EFFENBERGER sang, "In the Garden," and "Abide With Me." Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mr. FUSSELMAN, who had been in failing health, suffered a head injury Friday, from a fall at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. BOST, with whom he was living. He was removed immediately to the County hospital at Fayetteville. Developing pneumonia, he died Monday night at 11:30 o'clock.
Born November 2, 1879 in Quincy, Ill., the son of Henry and Evana FUSSELMAN, he with his parents moved to Cincinnati, Ark., by way of Texas, when he was a very small boy.
On May 28, 1893, he and Miss Nina WILSON, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.D. WILSON of Wedington, Ark., were married and established their home on a farm in the Cincinnati community, where their two daughters, Jewel and Nola, were born. Mr. and Mrs. FUSSELMAN and the daughters moved to Westville in 1910, where he established a meat market and grocery.
He was a member of the Methodist church for 75 years. Through the years until his health would not permit, he was a regular attendant at Sunday School and both morning and evening church services.
Following Mrs. FUSSELMAN's death, January 18, 1958, he moved into the home of Mr. and Mrs. BOST, where he had since lived. The other daughter (Jewel) Mrs. Vernon HARRELL, preceded him in death May 3, 1957.

HEUSTIS
Funeral service for Clarence Edward HEUSTIS, 58, was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating.
Mr. HEUSTIS was born September 28, 1891, at Cincinnati, Ark., the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. HEUSTIS and died in Wichita, Kansas. Interment was in the Wedington, Ark., cemetery.
He received his elementary and high school education in Cincinnati and attended the University of Arkansas. He moved to Wichita in 1928 where he was an instructor in the Wichita Barber College, later becoming manager of the shop, continuing until his retirement.
Mr. HEUSTIS was a World War 1 veteran serving as a machine gun operator. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Consistory and a Shriner.
Survivors include a brother W.F. HEUSTIS of Stilwell; two nieces, one of which is Mrs. Luther WADLEY of Westville; five nephews and other relatives.

AUTREY
Funeral service for Mrs. C.H. AUTREY, mother of Mrs. Si REED, was held Monday morning at Naples, Texas. Mrs. AUTREY died Saturday morning in a Naples hospital, following a stroke she suffered a week before. Those from Westville who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Bill POWELL and Mrs. George DISMUKES.

BAIN
Funeral service for Mrs. Mattie Amanda BAIN, 84, of Siloam Springs, sister of Marvin VANHOOSER, of Watts, was held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in Pyeatte's Memory Chapel, with the Rev. G.B. AMES, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. BAIN was born March 27, 1875, in Dallas, Ark., the daughter of Allen and Milda VANHOOSER and died Friday in the Siloam Springs hospital following an extended illness.
She had lived in Siloam Springs community for 80 years coming with her parents who were early settlers to the community. Survivors other than her brother, Marvin VANHOOSER,are another brother, Harry VANHOOSER of Muskogee; and several nieces and nephews.

ELROD
Clarence C. ELROD, a resident of Siloam Springs, Ark., for over 60 years, died about 5 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial hospital, after an extended illness.
He was born March 7, 1884 at Cassville, Mo. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and the Law School at Little Rock. He has been a practicing attorney in Siloam Springs since 1909. Prior to that time he taught higher mathematics at the old Arkansas Conference College. Until recently he tutored local students in math.
Mr. ELROD was a life long member of the Presbyterian church, and served as a deacon. He taught a Sunday School class for several years. During these years he also served two terms as city councilman, a member of the school board, and was City Attorney at the time of his death.
Survivors are the wife, Margarette, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Mary SMIRAGLIA, Silver Springs, Md.; his twin brother, Claud, Siloam Springs; a half-sister, Mrs. Lula WERTZ, Cassville, Mo.; one half-brother, Eldon, Chino, Calif.; 6 grandchildren; five nephews, Senator Russell ELROD, Siloam Springs, John NARVIE, Cecil and Lee ELROD of Calif.; Paul ELROD, New York and a niece, Mrs. Clessie GERHART, of Tulsa.
Services will be held Friday at 21:00 p.m. in the Presbyterian church with Rev. Basil RAMEY officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery will be under direction of Wassons.
The family asks that friends contribute to the American Bible Society as a memorial in lieu of flowers.

Funeral service for Mrs. Viola AYERS, 82, of Westville, was held Thursday afternoon in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. G.H. CRITTENDEN of Stilwell officiating. Rev. and Mrs. Bud LACIE, accompanied by Mrs. R.E. LADD, sang, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "Precious Memories," and "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be." Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mrs. AYERS was born September 18, 1878 and died October 8 in the Stilwell hospital.
Pallbearers were Clyde RATHER, Owen BUFFINGTON, Henry ISAAC, Hugh SAGEER, Barney PHILLIPS and Bill MOSS. Flower bearers were Mrs. Milton STALCUP, Mrs. Render DUNCAN, Mrs. Troy GIBBONS and Mrs. Claude SNIDER.

MULLINS
Funeral service for Sharron Hope MULLINS, nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gwen MULLINS, Route 2, Westville, was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Roy COLE of Tahlequah and the Rev. Bud LACIE of Westville officiating. Rev. and Mrs. LACIE, Pauline and Janet LACIE accompanied by Mrs. R.E. LADD, sang "I'll Not Be a Stranger," "Beautiful Garden on High," and "How Beautiful Heaven Must be." Burial was in the Westville Cemetery.
Sharron Hope was born February 11, 1951, in Westville, and died Monday, October 10 in the County Hospital at Fayetteville from burns she suffered in a gasoline fire that destroyed the MULLINS home, Wednesday.
Her eleven year old sister, Reba, remains in a critical condition in the Washington County hospital. According to Mr. MULLINS, the two children were burned when a container of gasoline overturned near a butane operated refrigerator in the home. The gasoline was ignited by the refrigerator flame.
Pall bearers were Kenneth KINDLE, Odene HAMILTON, Willard HAMILTON, Tommy BARNES, Tommy IGO and Don CRITTENDEN. Flower bearers were, Paula HART, Barbara KINDLE, Rosetta WILHITE, Frankie GRIFFIN, Rita Kay SIMMONS, Susie MORRIS.
Survivors include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gwen MULLINS; four brothers, Darrell, Mark and Jim of the home, and Wayne of Meriam, Kan.; three sisters, Reba of the home, Mrs. Kathleen MATTHEWS, of Shawnee, Kan., and Mrs. Gail WILLIAMS of Merriam, Kan. BRADEN
Funeral service for Gordon Bradley BRADEN, 53, of Clovis, N. Mex., father of Mrs. Vol WOODS, was held Sunday, October 9 in Green City, Mo., with interment in the Burnett Cemetery.
Mr. BRADEN, who was visiting in Missouri, died Thursday following a heart attack.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Vol Calvin WOODS of Westville; one son, Dean BRADEN of Oklahoma City; his mother Mrs. Winnie BRADEN of Lemons, Mo.; three sisters and one brother.
Mrs. WOODS, who attended the funeral, returned home Monday.

SYLER
Funeral service for William Ernest SYLER, 68, long time resident and Kansas City Southern Railway station agent in Westville, was held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Clifford PALMER, of Siloam Springs, Ark., the Rev. Bill HENRY of Yale, and the Rev. Luther NELSON of Westville officiating. Piano music was played by Mrs. Robert EFFENBERGER. Interment was in the Siloam Springs Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Mr. SYLER, who had been in failing health for several years, but continuing as station agent until June of this year, died at 4:30 o'clock Wednesday morning in the Memorial Hospital at Siloam Springs, Ark. He was born January 30, 1892, in Vandalia, Mo.
Mr. SYLER had been associated with railway companies for more than fifty years. Starting to work for the Mountain State Telephone and Telegraph Company in Montana at the age of 17 years, moving later to New Mexico and Texas. In Texas he was associated with the El Paso and Southwestern Railway Company.
He and Miss Charlotte WEBB of McClain, Texas, were married in 1917. In 1920 they moved to Westville. He immediately assumed his duties as a telegraph operator with the Kansas City Southern Railway and continued through the following 40 years with the K.C.S. until he was forced by ill health to be relieved having served 24 years as Station Agent in Westville.
During the depression period he was on duty at the stations in Spiro, Okla., and DeQueen, Ark. When older employees retired and his years of senority increased, he was appointed station agent in Westville. During the time he was in Spiro and DeQueen, Mrs. SYLER and the family remained in Westville.
Active pallbearers were Grover HOWARD, Ray STANFILL, Billy Ray ALLISON, Robert HENRY, Darrell INGERSOLL, Ralph HENRY. Survivors include the wife, Charlotte; one son, George SYLER of Siloam Springs, Ark.; three daughters, Mrs. Marguerite CRITTENDEN and Mrs. Mariann MATNEY of Westville, and Mrs. Barbara GRANT of Rantoul, Ill.; a niece (who was reared in the Syler home), Mrs. W.C. METSZER, Petersburg, Va.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Lester SYLER, St. Louis, Mo., and George SYLER, Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Miss Laura Mae SYLER, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Ollie DOUGLAS, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Beulah PARRISH, Iaddonia, Mo.

WHITE
Zack WHITE, brother of D.E. WHITE of Westville died in the Stephens County Memorial hospital at Breckenridge, Texas, Friday, following an accident on his farm when he was crushed by a bull.
Funeral service was held at the First Baptist church in Breckenridge with the pastor Rev. Edgar JONES, officiating. Burial was in the Breckenridge Cemetery.
Mr. WHITE had been a resident of Stephens County since 1897, moving with his parents from Navarro County, Texas. He formerly was a school teacher, had been a member of the Stephens County school board for many years. A veteran of World War 1, a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Congregational church.
Survivors are his wife, Eunice of the home. Other than Mr. WHITE of Westville, who was unable to attend the funeral are two brothers, J.M of Hereford, Texas, and G.T. of Cisco, Texas, and three sisters.

RHEA
Frederick J. RHEA of Chester, Calif., brother of Mrs. Edna ROWLAND of Westville, died October 28 in the Veterans Hospital at Reno, Nevada, where he had been a patient since September 21. He was born near Siloam Springs, Ark., October 22, 1887. Funeral services and burial were in Chester.
Survivors other than Mrs. ROWLAND are a son, Jack RHEA of Hollydale, Calif., and another sister, Mrs. Susie HENDERSON, Huntington Park, Calif.

MAYFIELD
Funeral service for Mrs. Minnie Belle MAYFIELD, was held Sunday afternoon, November 13, at 2 o'clock in the First Baptist church, which she was a member, with the pastor, Rev. Luther NELSON, officiating. Solos were sung by Mrs. T.V. RUSSELL and Mrs. Bob HIGHLAND, accompanied by Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON.
Mrs. MAYFIELD, who was born January 15, 1866, in Mountain Home, Ark., died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sam EDMISTON in Westville, Wednesday afternoon, November 9.
She is survived by five sons, Howard, Charles and Everett MAYFIELD of Stockton, Calif., Elzie MAYFIELD of Wichita, Kan., Willie MAYFIELD of Hulbert; two daughters, Mrs. Gertie DOTSON of Pryor and Mrs. EDMISTON of Westville; 28 grandchildren; 69 great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Hulbert Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home, Lincoln, Ark.
Pall bearers were Ralph GILL, Neil AKIN, Oscar SMITH, W.J. FOSTER, Watson EDMISTON and E.D. CARMICHAEL. Flower bearers were Mrs. Ralph GILL, Mrs. E.D. CARMICHAEL, Mrs. Roy RAGSDALE, Mrs. James PENNINGTON, Mrs. Neil AKIN, Mrs. Bill HAMBLIN, Mrs. Virginia GIBSON and Miss Lora FOWLER.

ASHER / MCFARLAND
Saturday afternoon around 12:30 o'clock, the bodies of Juel ASHER Gentry, Ark., Route 3, and a woman identified later as Mrs. Deloris MCFARLAND of Bartlesville, Okla., were found in a car parked on Highway 59 north of Westville, just north of the River bridge, on the west side of the highway down under by the side of the fill by Art MYERS of Watts.
According to Adair County Sheriff R.L. SWEPSTON, Mr. MYERS had noticed the car on Friday, but Saturday as he and Mrs. MYERS were going fishing, seeing the car still in the same location he decided to check it and found the bodies. The Sheriff was notified and following an inquest was held, Adair County Coroner Howard WATERS, ruled the deaths were due to asphyxiation by carbon monoxide.
Sheriff SWEPSTON stated the couple probably died Thursday night.
The bodies were taken to Roberts Funeral Home at Stilwell, later Mr. ASHER's body was removed to Pyeatte's Funeral Home at Siloam Springs, Ark. Funeral service for him was held Thursday afternoon at Cherokee City.
Mrs. MCFARLAND's body was removed to a Bartlesville Funeral Home where funeral services and burial were planned.

December 2, 1960

ETCHESON
One person was killed, and two others were injured early Saturday morning, November 26, on U.s. Highway 59, about 3 1/2 miles north of Stilwell, when the car driven by Donald Ray ETCHESON, 25, of Summers, Ark., went out of control, overturned twice and burst into flames, investigators stated.
ETCHESON died in the flaming wreckage and the two passengers, Virgil WILKIE, and Joe WADE 21, both of Westville, were injured and removed to the Stilwell hospital.
ETCHESON's funeral and burial was at Summers Saturday afternoon.

Funeral service for W.M. BIBY, 77, of Morris, was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Arthur SMITH, of Davis, assisted by the Rev. J.R. MCBRIDE, pastor of the Westville Pentecostal Holiness church, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Walter CARLTON, accompanied by Mrs. John BUNNELL sang, "Farther Along," "Precious Memories," and "Beyond the Sunset." Interment was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mr. BIBY was born February 14, 1883, at Summers, Ark., the son of Pasha and John David BIBY and died Friday, November 25 in an Okmulgee hospital.
Pallbearers were Joy Lee POYNOR, Luther SIMMONS, Woodrow LANIER, Regan RATLIFF, Frank MOSS and Floyd WATERS. Flower bearers were Mrs. Frank MOSS, Mrs. Milton STALCUP, Mrs. Haden COLVIN, Mrs. Walter CARLTON.
Survivors include two sons, J.C. BIBY, Tulsa and A.C. BIBY, Big Springs, Texas; two brothers, Tom BIBY, Lincoln, Ark., Johnny BIBY of Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Callie PATTON, Mrs. Dula OXFORD and Mrs. Sis WALKER of Tulsa; five grandchildren.

GILBERT
Funeral service for Floyd Ramond GILBERT, 53, a resident of the West Peavine community for the past 25 years, was held Friday afternoon, November 25, at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel at Stilwell. Burial was in the Westville Cemetery.
Mr. GILBERT was born April 25, 1907, at Wetumka, and died Tuesday, November 22 at his home, following a long illness.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Lee and a son, Douglas of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Emma MORRISON, Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Anna WOODRUM, Wetumka, Mrs. Nora COLDER, Stilwell; three brothers, Allan GILBERT of Texas, Harry GILBERT of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

CRITTENDEN
Funeral rites for Riley CRITTENDEN, 71, were held Friday afternoon, November 25, at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Commodore FOURKILLER and Billy FOURKILLER accompanied by Mrs. Hugh LADD furnished the music. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. CRITTENDEN was born February 2, 1889, at Stilwell the son of Nancy and James CRITTENDEN and died Monday, November 21, in the Russell Nursing Home at Westville.
Pallbearers were Marvin CLAYTON, Hollis WEAVER, Bill BROWN, Carl JACKSON, Luke CRITTENDEN and Evan HAMBLIN. Flower bearers were Mrs. Dennis CRITTENDEN and Mrs. Melvin BOLES.

Kenneth was born May 1, 1941 in Westville, and died December 8, in the Stilwell hospital. He was a graduate of the Westville high school and attended Connors College at Warner.

WHITMIRE
Funeral service for Eudell WHITMIRE, 40, was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Green Community church with the Rev. Bud LACIE of Westville and the Rev. EDWARDS of Sapulpa officiating. George HUMMINGBIRD, Bill SIXKILLER and Rev. LACIE sang "Precious Memories." The Green chorus sang, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Burial was in the Green Cemetery.
Mr. WHITMIRE, who had recently moved from Angleton, Texas, to Sapulpa and was operating a restaurant there, died Saturday following a gun accident in the place of business. He was a World War 11 veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
Pallbearers were Dave, Adam, Jimmy and Dean HAMMER, Roy BLACK and Claburn WALKINGSTICK. Flower bearers were Colleen WHITMIRE, Eva Lee WHITMIRE, Linda WHITMIRE, Alene WAGNON, Louise PHILLIPS, Leora HAMILTON and Mrs. Jewel SIMMONS.

Funeral rites for J. Marion POOL, 50, were held Monday afternoon, December 19 in the First Baptist Church at Summers, Ark., with the Rev. Devoe WHITELY officiating. Music was furnished by the church choir. Interment was in the Summers Cemetery under the direction of the Roberts Funeral Home.
POOL was born December 18, 1910 at Summers, Ark., the son of Campbell G. and Lou LAMONS POOL, and lost his life early Sunday morning in a fire that destroyed his home southeast of town.
He was a graduate of the Westville high school and had been a successful farmer in the Westville community for over 30 years.

SHACKELFORD
Funeral service for Brewster SHACKELFORD, 54, was held on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Roberts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Luther NELSON, pastor of the First Baptist church officiating. Mrs. Carl ISHMAEL and Mrs. Harold Ray HART accompanied by Mrs. Paul CARRINGTON sang, "Precious Memories, " "Beyond the Sunset" and "God Be With You." Interment was in the Foreman Cemetery.
Mr. SHACKELFORD, who died suddenly Monday morning following a heart attack was born October 16, 1906, at Prairie Grove, Ark., the son of Matt and Anna SHACKELFORD.
He and Miss Zoe AKIN were married April 3, 1926 at Stilwell and established their home in Westville where they had lived since. He was a member of the Baptist church and was the Berry Butane representative and distributor in this area at the time of his death.
