Bob Meyers

Bob Meyers of Maud and also of Macomb, passed away Wednesday, June 13, after a long illness. He was 60.
He was born Sept. 2, 1946, in Modesto, Calif., to Don L. and Ellen Goatz Meyers .

He had several careers including being a mechanic and owning his own station and garage in Modesto, logging in Oregon and police work in Albuquerque, N.M. He was a past member of Phi Beta Kappa and a lifetime NRA member. After becoming disabled, he developed skills in woodworking, pottery, art, photography and vintage tool collecting and is mentioned on several Plomb tool websites.

His parents and their families were from the Maud area and he had pleasant childhood memories of the area, prompting him to move here in the mid 1990's upon retirement/disability.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

He is survived by long term partner, Debra Fox and her children, Ben Fox and Chloe Fox all of the home; sons, Billy of Sonora, Calif., Tim of Oklahoma City and Stephen and Robert of Virginia; daughters, Samantha Williams of Modesto Calif., and Amanda Meyers of Roanoke, Va.; four brothers, William D. Vernon, Jim and Dennis, all of California; four grandchildren, including Stephanie Meyers of Oklahoma City.

The family would like to thanks Faith Hospice, especially Brenda Provence for her excellent care and compassion these last few months.

Pursuant to his wishes, there will be a viewing at Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, 110 N. Broadway, Maud, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today with cremation following.


Betty Jo Jordan

Longtime Shawnee resident Betty Jo Jordan, 78, departed this life Thursday, June 14, in Meeker.
She was born July 31, 1928, in Cisco, Texas, to Roy and Ollie Mae (Spoon) Hall.

On Dec. 24, 1946, she married Walter W. Jordan.

Betty worked as a teacher's aide at Grove School in Shawnee for many years and was a member of the Hill Top Baptist Church and Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, two brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include one son, Danny Jordan of Meeker; one sister, Margie Cahill of Arkansas; three grandchildren, Tracy and husband, Travis, Loveland of Shawnee, Brian and wife, Samantha, Neal of El Reno and Scott Burks of Shawnee; six great-grandchildren, Kody, Kory, Kayci Loveland of Shawnee, Ashley Neal of Shawnee, Jessie and Dusti Neal of El Reno; other relatives and many friends.

Viewing will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Meeker.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Gene McNutt officiating.

Don W. "Jack" Foster

Macomb resident Don W. "Jack" Foster, 75, passed away Tuesday, June 12, in Macomb.
He was born July 28, 1931, to Newmerris Thomas and Lucy Neal (Pitts) Foster in Watonga, Okla.

He was reared near Watonga. Following his military service, he lived in California from 1954 until 1972. He then moved to Del City and lived there until moving to Macomb in 1986.

He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

In 1968, he married Barbara Foster in Nevada. She preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 1996.

While living in California, he worked as an iron worker. After returning to Oklahoma, he operated a backhoe service.

Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Herman Foster.

Survivors include his three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna and Dale Felt of Chickasha, Cathy and David Thomas of Hayward, Calif., and Victoria Lynn of Noble; two sons, Don Foster Jr. of San Leandro, Calif., Rick Foster of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Lucy Weaks of Ashland, Tenn., and Emma Jean Smith of Tulsa; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many friends and family

Graveside service was held 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2007 at Mars Hill Cemetery with Pastor Billy Adams officiating.

Longtime Seminole resident Virginia Dee Young, 76, died Friday, June 15, at her home.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.


Louise Dixson-Bross

Former Shawnee resident of Guthrie Louise Dixson-Bross, 72, died Saturday, June 16, in Edmond.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at North Ridge Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.


C. L. Shepherd

Shawnee resident C.L. Shepherd, 92, died Saturday, June 16, in Shawnee.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.


William "Bill" Blain

Tecumseh resident William "Bill" Blain, 59, passed away Friday, June 15, in Oklahoma City.

He was born Sept. 23, 1947, to O.R. and Thelma J. (Turner) Blain in Maud.

He was raised in Harjo, Okla., on Blain's Corner. He also lived in Tecumseh and Del City before moving back to Tecumseh in 1974.

He attended Harjo Schools from first to 12th grade. He was the captain of his high school basketball team.

He was a jet engine production controller at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring in 1985.

He enjoyed fishing, drag and sprint racing, and going to the lake. His children and grandchildren were the focal point of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include son, Chris Blain of Midwest City; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and James Dutton of Tecumseh; five brothers, Raymond Blain of Shawnee, Kenneth Blain of Konawa, Robert Blain of Bakersfield, Calif., Don Blain of Midwest City, Merle Blain of Maypearl, Texas; three sisters, Marie Lott of Bakersfield, Calif., Melba Marsh of Tecumseh, Margaret Outlaw of Tecumseh; four grandchildren, Amanda Rhodes of Tecumseh, Lauren Williams and her husband, Andrew of Earlsboro, Josh Dutton of Bethel, and Megan Dutton of Bethel; one great-grandchild, Austin Williams of Earlsboro.

Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sparks, New Beginnings Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cummings Cemetery.

Don Meshew

Shawnee resident Don Meshew, 73, passed away Thursday, June 14, in Shawnee.

He was born March 1, 1934, to Franklin Ludlow Meshew and Nellie Catherine Noland in Oklahoma City.

He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1952.

He joined the U.S. Navy July 23, 1952, and served on the U.S.S. Cone during the Korean War, and he was honorable discharge July 23, 1956.

He married Karen Sue Jones October 11, 1958.

He worked for Sears for 13 years, before going into business for himself. He owned Astro Alarms for the last 25 years.

He was the originator of Earlsboro Lion Club and served on the Earlsboro Volunteer Fire Dept., Earlsboro School Board and Earlsboro City Council. He was a member of Earlsboro Clown Troop, Homebuilders Association and 4-H leader of Pottawatomie County. He was an avid fan of Earlsboro Basketball.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include wife, Karen of the home; sons, Jeff Meshew and wife, Cheryl of Shawnee, Steve Meshew and wife, Rhonda of Tulsa, Clifford Meshew and wife, Deanne of Shawnee; grandchildren, Julia and Jenna Meshew of Shawnee, Jared and Caitlyn Meshew of Tulsa; sister-in-law, Shirely Nitzband and husband, Wayne; numerous nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with Jesse Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.


Ray Earhart

Tecumseh resident Ray Earhart, 60, passed away Wednesday, June 13, in Oklahoma City.

He was born Oct. 17, 1946, to Johnny and Margie Jean (Piguet) Ferguson in Tulsa.

Born and raised in Tulsa, he graduated from McLain High School.

He joined the U.S. Air Force and served four years during Viet Nam.

He married Pamela Gale Wright Feb. 21, 1980, at Lavern's Marriage Parlor in Miami, Okla.

He was a Jack-of-all-trades, Carpenter and Salesman. He was a very loyal husband, family man, Papa, car buff and friend to all.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Keli Young and his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Earhart of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Bobby Garrett of Sand Springs; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Tim and Timothia Earhart of Tulsa, Aaron and Shayntel Earhart of Tecumseh, Adam Earhart of Chickasha, Anthony Earhart of Tecumseh; five grandchildren, Tami Krater, Bailey Garrett, Rachel Earhart, Austin Garrett, Cash Earhart; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha and Chester Sliger of Tecumseh; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Ray's name at Tinker Federal Credit Union.

Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jason Lee of True Vine Ministries officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.
