Dorothy Chesnutt

Holdenville resident Dorothy (Fruit) Chesnutt, 95, passed away
Monday, July 18, at her home after complications following a stroke.
She was born Jan. 12, 1911, in Shawnee to pioneers Ralph and Roxie Fruit.
Dorothy graduated salutatorian at Shawnee High School. She was state drama and
cheerleading award winner in 1926. She was an Oklahoma City "Kiltie" girl and
met President Calvin Coolidge when the group visited the White House in 1925
while performing in the East. She served as state president of Rainbow Girls in
1928.
After four years at Oklahoma Baptist University, Dorothy studied drama and
elocution in Boston at the Powers School.
From 1930 until her marriage to Clyde Chesnutt, she operated The Dorothy Fruit
Studio of Dance in Shawnee and was an active golfer with her lifelong friend,
Rozanne (Custer) Turner at the local country club. Dorothy studied dancing in
London and Europe. She took her first transatlantic voyage on the Queen Mary in
1934 departing from the Santa Fe Depot in Shawnee. She later traveled
extensively, to all the world's continents except Antarctica.
In February 1942 she married Clyde Chesnutt at the family's home in Holdenville.
She reopened her dancing school in Holdenville, which she operated for another
20 years.
While raising a family she was active in the local Methodist Church serving as
president of the WSCS, and other church positions. Dorothy was a charter member
and past president of the Holdenville Garden Club. She served as local
chairperson for the March of Dimes, American Cancer Society and Heart Research
at various times in the 50s and 60s.
After Holdenville Hospital opened in 1967, she was an active auxiliary
supporter. In 1972, after her husband's death, Dorothy became "Mom Dot" the
Alpha Gama Rho housemother at Oklahoma State University, where she enjoyed
attending the drama productions and sporting events in Stillwater.
Mom Dot gave bridge and table etiquette lessons regularly to new agricultural
majors in the farm-orientated fraternity. After 10 years, she retired and
returned to Holdenville where she quickly renewed old friendships and made many
new ones.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Loren Fruit in
1956, and Kenneth Fruit in 1999.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Clyde and Dotsy
Chesnutt of San Diego, Calif., the Rev. Lon and Evelyn Chesnutt of Columbia,
Md., Kenneth and Linda Chesnutt of Holdenville, Tom and Peggy Chesnutt of
Irving, Texas; sisters-in-law, Ruth Chesnutt Butts of Gilbert, Ariz., close
childhood cousin, Thelma Barnes of Tecumseh; nieces and spouses, Barbara Fruit
and Hank Watson of Oklahoma City, Carol and Larry Adams of Wimberly, Texas,
Sharon and Fred Simmons of San Marcos, Texas; nephew and spouse, Jerry and Vicki
Fruit of Sequin, Texas.
At Dorothy's request her body was donated to medical science. At a later date
her ashes will be placed upon her late husband's grave so that they can be
joined together again after 35 years.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Barnard
Memorial United Methodist Church in Holdenville. Following the service, which
will include "Lord of the Dance," the family will receive friends at her home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Barnard
Memorial United Methodist Church Renovation Fund. Condolences may be made by

Antonio James Stanzione

Shawnee resident Antonio "Tony" Stanzione, 16, died Saturday, July 16, at an
Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born Nov. 26, 1988, in Pauls Valley to Roy and Kelly (Paine) Stanzione.
He attended school in Shawnee and was a member of Wallace Avenue Baptist Church.
Tony loved football and baseball. He had the opportunity to attend the 33rd
Super Bowl in Florida with the help of the Make A Wish Foundation. He shared the
experience in heart with a donation of his own to the foundation.
Tony identified with his Christian beliefs. He showed love and compassion to
those who were challenged with obstacles lesser and greater than his own. His
love for his family seeped his heart continuously as he ministered through his
actions of love. He attempted to uphold his values he held in Christ - love one
another and love your God.
Tony is truly a child of God whose acceptance into heaven will be proceeded by
the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant".
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Carol Diane Barnes;
great-grandfather, James Elliot; great-grandmother, Lillian C. Blair and
great-grandfather, Lovie Blair.
Survivors include his mother, Kelly Stanzione-Paine of Shawnee; father, Roy
Stanzione Jr. and wife, Cheri, of Shawnee; brothers and sisters, Johnny
Coronado, Donnell Teal, Daniel Coronado, Nicholas Coronado, Christina Stanzione
and Michael Coronado; grandparents, Robert and LuAnn Paine of Pryor and Roy
Stanzione Sr. of San Diego, Calif.; aunts, Carol Pyle and Michael of Muscle
Shoals, Ala., Cindy Pridgeon and Mike of San Diego, Calif., Cheryl Dresdner of
San Diego, Calif., Robin Nordmeyer and Doug of Apple Valley, Minn.; uncles,
David Paine and Lauri of Claremore and Bob Paine and Denise of Chelsea.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wallace Avenue Baptist Church in Shawnee
under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Memorials may be made in
Antonio's name to Bancfirst.

Carina Dawn Johnson

Tecumseh resident Carina Dawn Johnson, 22, died Tuesday, July 19, at an Oklahoma
City hospital.
She was born Jan. 4, 1983, in Shawnee to Grayling Johnson and Monica (Rodgers)
Blankinship. She graduated from Tecumseh High School and worked as a clerk at
Atwoods. She had lived in the Shawnee-Tecumseh area all of her life.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, the Rev. Eugene and Myrtle
Johnson.
Survivors include her mother, Monica Blankinship, of Earlsboro; her father,
Grayling Johnson, of Shawnee; two brothers, Jessie Johnson of Shawnee and Ryan
Blankinship of Earlsboro; grandparents, Jack and Jodi Rodgers of Shawnee and
numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the chapel of Walker
Funeral Service. Service will be 10 a.m. at the chapel of Walker Funeral
Service.

Clara Jean Walls

Earlsboro resident Clara Jean Walls, 70, died Monday, July 18, at her home.
She was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Earlsboro to Charles and Mabel (Baker) Yoakum.
Walls graduated from Earlsboro High School.
She married Jimmy Carter and later married Dale Walls on Aug. 17, 1976, in
Gainesville, Texas.
Walls was a homemaker and worked at TDK retiring in 1988.
She was a member of Earlsboro Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and
cooking.
Her father and great-granddaughter, Angel Carter, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Dale Walls, of the home; six children and
spouses, Connie and Dennis Rawls of Earlsboro, Jimmy Don and Trellis Carter of
Earlsboro, Melvin and Pat Carter of Konawa, Kathy and Todd Whatley of Earlsboro,
Steven D. and Janette Walls of Harrah, Janet and Chip Hargrave of Moore; mother,
Mabel Yoakum; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Charslie Byrd of
Broken Arrow; brother and sister-in-law, C.R. and Pat Yoakum of Tecumseh;
several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Graveside service will be 2 today at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction
of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Eunice Irene Kifer
Former longtime resident Shawnee resident Eunice Irene Kifer, 79, died Tuesday,
July 19, in an Ada nursing home.
She was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Garden Grove to Wintford L. and Cora Isabell
Lenord-Loveland.
She was married to Mr. Cecil A. McBroom and later to Mr. Otto Kifer. Both of
which preceded her in death.
She lived in Shawnee most her life before moving to Ada in 1998 to be near her
family. She worked as a sales clerk at Sears for 15 years and was a member of
the Church of Christ.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Myrtle VanHorn; brother
Billy Gene Loveland and a great-grandchild, Braeden Qualls.
Survivors include her son, W. C. McBroom of Oklahoma City; daughters and
sons-in-law, Sharon and Steve Cain of Atoka and Carolyn K. and Paul Harrell of
Ada; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy and Norma Loveland of Midwest City,
Floyd and Deany Loveland of San Antonio, Texas, Doyle Loveland of Shawnee and
Donald and Sheryl Loveland of Shawnee; sister, Wanda Kirby of Oklahoma City; 12
grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery
with the Rev. Randy Nail and the Rev. Ron Qualls officiating.
Memorials may be sent to the Gideon Living Memorial Bible Plan or their favorite
charity.

Oklahoma City resident Ann (Sutton) Parsley, 80, died Wednesday, July 20, in
Midwest City.

Nancy Spangler

Lifelong Yukon resident Nancy Spangler lost her short but courageous battle with
a rare form of uterine cancer Tuesday, July 19.
She was born Sept. 3, 1941, in Shamrock to Geraldine (King) and Leo Likens.
Nancy married Harold Spangler in 1960. They were eternal newly weds for 45
years.
She graduated in 1968 with a license of practical nursing degree and worked at
South Community Hospital for 20 years as an LPN.
She was a charter member of the bingo association. Preceding her in death are
her parents, an infant brother and grandmother King.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Spangler of the home; four children, Sheri
Cowan and Phil Pratt of Mustang, Kelly and Linda Spangler of Oklahoma City,
Paula and Bill Staudt of Okmulgee, Scott and Sheila Spangler of Yukon; nine
grandchildren, Nickolas Cowan, Brittney and Jake Richardson, Adam Spangler,
Nancy Kay, Robyn and William Staudt, Christopher, Cody and Collin Spangler; two
great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Austin Cowan; four siblings, Judy and Bill
Anderson, Sue and Leroy Batt, Jerry and Francis Leyerly, Danny and Jill Likens,
as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church, Yukon. Burial
will follow at Yukon Cemetery under the direction of Yanda & Son Funeral Home,

Longtime Shawnee resident Bernice Marie Ewing, 78, died Sunday, July 17, at an
Oklahoma City hospital.
She was born Aug. 30, 1926, in Konawa to Louis and Annie Morrison-Steelman.
Bernice married Leonard Ewing on June 22, 1946, in Arkansas.
She was a member of Cornerstone Assembly Church in Shawnee and enjoyed the
Shawnee Senior Citizens Center.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Leonard Lee Ewing;
sisters, Irene and Dorothy; brother, James Steelman.
Survivors include her three sons, Ernest James Ewing, Danny Ray Ewing and Carl
Joseph Ewing; daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Thomas Cook of Shawnee;
sister-in-law, Ida Morgan of Shawnee; grandchildren, Michael, Jeffery, April,
Jennifer, Julie, Shellie, Misty and Moquella; great-grandchildren, Matthew,
Dacee, Roland and Tabor.
Service will be noon Friday at Gaskill Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Peters
officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the

Mayme Cowden
Tecumseh resident Mayme Cowden, 83, died Tuesday, July 19, in Tecumseh.
She was born Dec. 30, 1921, in Tribbey to Sam and Hattie (Thomasson) Judy.
Cowden attended school in Tribbey, Trousdale and Wanette. She graduated from
Tecumseh in 1940.
On Aug. 15, 1941, she married Wayne Cowden in Chandler.
Cowden lived in Shawnee before moving to Tecumseh in 1949.
She worked as a layout operator over test area for AT&T. She retired Feb. 2,
1985.
Cowden was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church. Her great-grandchildren
were the focal point of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Kathleen Trousdale, Mary
Louise Judy and Eula Dubler, and two brothers, Bruce and Frank Judy.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ernie Yates of Tecumseh;
grandchildren and spouses, Pam and Neal Motley of Tecumseh; Vicki Eagleston of
Tecumseh; five great-grandchildren, Andrea Rector and husband, Ben, Amanda
Motley, Tyler Motley, Courtney Eagleston and Cory Eagleston; one
great-great-grandchild, Tate Rector.

Carl Rounsivill
Seminole resident Carl Rounsivill, 79, died Monday, July 18, at Pioneer Nursing
Home.
He was born May 23, 1926, in Oilton to Noah D. and Eva (Wheeler) Rounsivill.
Rounsivill served four years in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1st class.
He's been a resident of Seminole since 1991. He moved here from Fresno, Calif.,
after living there for 43 years.
On Oct. 12, 1991, he married Dolphie M. Rounsivill in Seminole. She preceded him
in death Jan. 7, 2004.
Rounsivill was a salesman for U.S. Steel for 10 years. He also worked in the
trucking business for Pacific Motor Trucking in California.
He was a member of Hillstop Assembly of God in Earlsboro.
Also preceding him in death are his parents.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Robert Wright of
Fresno; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with the Rev.

Earl Rounsivill
Seminole resident Earl Rounsivill, 79, died Monday, July 18, at

Betty Aliene Estep

Longtime Shawnee resident Betty Aliene Estep departed this
earthly life Monday, July 18, at Unity Health Center-North Campus surrounded by
her family.
She was born May 10, 1929, to Johnie and Izetta (Butler) Estep in Seminole. She
was the second of 6 children.
Betty married John Morton on Jan. 7, 1946, and they had three daughters
together, Izetta, Pat and Jodi.
Betty had previously lived in Sand Springs and Seminolea. She had been a
resident at Colonial Estates Nursing Center since August 2004.
She was a member of Eastern Star, Murrow Chapter, in Shawnee. She was saved and
baptized at First Baptist Church of Seminole in early 1949 when she was 8 months
pregnant with her second child, Pat. She was currently a member of 40th Street
Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, where she would attend when her health would
allow.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Izetta and Bill Gandy of
Choctaw, Pat and Eddie Simpson of Tulsa, Jodi and Roger McLeroy of Oklahoma
City; five grandchildren, Denise Jones, Jessica Sexton, Kelly McLeroy and his
wife, Tracie, Kim Murdock, Mike Simpson and his wife, Jennifer; 12
great-grandchildren with another due in November and a great-great grandbaby
also due in November; four sisters, Elaine Maynard of Tennessee, Leta Abel and
her husband, Jessie (Buster) of Shawnee, Lela (Chub) Rutledge and her husband,
Gil, of Shawnee, and Janice Hankins and her husband, Don, of Shawnee; one
brother, Billy Estep of Tennessee, 19 nieces and nephews; special cousin, J.D.
Butler and many other family members too numerous to mention.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Gaskill Funeral Chapel with Kelly McLeroy
officiating, assisted by Mike Simpson. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery,
north of Seminole, under the direction of Gaskill Funeral Chapel.

Tecumseh resident Mayme Cowden, 83, died Tuesday, July 19, in
Tecumseh.

Delia Mae Jolley
Shawnee resident Delia Mae Jolley, 91, died Saturday, July 16, in Shawnee.
She was born Sept. 27, 1915, in Asher to Andrew Alexander and Levi Burk-Yott.
Delia attended Asher school and later married Virgil Lee Jolley.
She lived in California for many years before returning to this area six years
ago.
Delia was a resident of Golden Rule Home and attended daily devotionals there.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Virgil, and son, Ronald
Jolley.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Jolley of Shawnee; two sons, Wilburn
Jolley of Palm Springs, Calif., Robert Dale Jolley of Stockton, Calif.; eight
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many
friends.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Tecumseh Cemetery with the Rev. Larry
Sparks officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill Funeral
Chapel.

Chester Davidson Smith

Chester Davidson "Smitty" Smith, 89, went to be with the Lord
Monday, July 18, after a long illness.
He was born Jan. 17, 1916, in Mangum to Lula Dale Tramel and James Chester
Smith.
Smitty spent 25 years as a bus driver in Oklahoma City and more than 30 years as
a locksmith in the Los Angeles area where he retired.
After retirement, he traveled around the country in his RV, finally settling in
the Oklahoma City/Shawnee area for the past six years.
He was loved by many and will be missed by everyone. He was a beloved father,
grandfather and great-grandfather.
Preceding him in death are his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Camille, of 30 years; two sons, Dennis and his wife,
Shirley, of Shawnee, Terry Bill and his wife, Darlene, of Oklahoma City; 10
grandchildren, Krista and husband, Joe Wallis of Oklahoma City, Kelli Godfrey of
Oklahoma City, Katherine Smith of Shawnee, Cynthia and husband, Rick, Melendez
of Moore, Karin and husband, Sean Quinn of Chatsworth, Calif., Michael Bates of
Edmond, Randy Smith, Melissa and husband, Joe Tyson of Yukon, Brandon Smith of
Oklahoma City, Amy and husband, Joey Swearingen of Oklahoma City; 10
great-grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Kameron Webb, Sahara Rocha, Brady Smith, Dylan

Prague resident David Staley Kershaw, 84, died Thursday, July
21, in Shawnee.
He was born March 30, 1921, near Marlow to James Buckley and Julia Kathryn
(Lacy) Kershaw.
On Aug. 31, 1995, he married Dorothy Jean (Kelting) Cheatwood in Ada.
He was a retired carpenter and a member of Calvary Way Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Cheatwood Kershaw, of the home; son, Kevin
Staley Kershaw of Pauls Valley; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Larry Lucas

Leo Epperley III
Leo Owen "Trey" Epperley III passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2005 in Shawnee
following a lengthy illness.
Trey was born Feb. 7, 1962, in Shamrock, Texas, to Leo Epperley Jr. and Joy (McCoin)
Epperley of Holdenville.
He grew up in Shawnee and attended Shawnee schools. He worked for 20 years in
the family business, AAA Fire Equipment Company, with his father, Leo Jr. and
his son, Jacob.
Trey loved John Wayne movies, OU football, fishing, and playing with his son's
pet dog, Guiness.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo Sr. and Velma Epperley,
Richard and Marie McCoin, and one sister, Lea Ellen Epperley Ware.
Survivors include his son, Jacob Epperley, of Shawnee; nephew, Russell Ware of
Newalla; many uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holdenville Cemetery with Jim
Thetford officiating. Services are under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of
Holdenville.

Lifelong Seminole resident Ray Ponkilla, 74, died Friday, July
22, at home.
He was born March 10, 1931, in Seminole to Tony Wilson Ponkilla Sr. and Mamie
(Clark) Ponkilla.
On May 4, 1953, he married Marie Johnson in Oklahoma City. He worked at Shawnee
Milling Company and retired in 1995.
He was a member of Snake Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Johnson Ponkilla of the home; three sons,
Stewart Ponkilla of Seminole, Robert Ponkilla of Edmond and Stephen Ponkilla of
Shawnee; two daughters, Ramona Ponkilla of Oklahoma City and Janell Ponkilla of
Green Bay, Wis.; brother, Martin Rock of Shawnee, 12 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Clifford Ponkilla; three brothers, Tony
Ponkilla Jr., James Ponkilla and Chester Ponkilla, and two sisters, Venus Blar
and Frances Ponkilla Williams.
Wake services will be 6:30 Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel and 7 p.m.
Tuesday at Snake Creek Baptist Church. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Snake
Creek Baptist Church with George Mooney and Kenneth Fixico officiating. Burial

Longtime Seminole County resident Jimmie Dan "JD" "Shaky"
McCarley, 85, died Wednesday at Pioneer Nursing Home in Seminole.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole with
the Rev. Tommy Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Texas, the son of James Dan "Jim" and Verda M.
McCarley. He married Joyce N. Cantrell in Odessa, Texas, on Dec. 21, 1951. She
preceded him in death in 1992.
McCarley retired from Pan American Petroleum Co. in Odessa after 20 years and
worked in Seminole for Century 21 for five years. He was a member of First
Baptist Church of Seminole and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his son, Jay Dee McCarley of Seminole; daughter-in-law, Claire
Branson of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Hunter McCarley, Megan McCarley
Giddens and Jason Dwayne McCarley, and two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and
Jayden Giddens.

Maria Luisa Aguilera
Shawnee resident Maria Luisa Aguilera, 91, died Wednesday, July 20, in a local
hospital.
She was born Dec. 11, 1913, in Carmaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Pedro and Maria
Ponce. At a young age, she moved to El Paso, Texas, where she attended school.
She married Octavio Aguilera on Jan. 16, 1940. She was a homemaker and worked in
retail sales.
She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and enjoyed her family and
sewing and quilting.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a sister, Cuca Faries; brothers, Joe
and Manuel Ponce, and a daughter, Maria Luisa Apodaca.
Survivors include her husband, Octavio, of the home; son and daughter-in-law,
Sam and Jere Aguilera of Shawnee; sister, Mage Solis; sister and brother-in-law,
Carmen and Ben Amparan; brother and sister-in-law, Angel and Esperanza Ponce;
sister-in-law, Dalila Mechaca; five grandchildren, Yolanda Apodaca, Yvonne
Burns, Al Apodaca, Anthony Aguilera and Lisa Churchwell, and seven
great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at Walker Funeral Service.
Mass of Christian burial will be noon Monday at St. Benedict Church with the
Rev. Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

Betty Jo Martin

Betty Jo Martin, 77, died Sunday, July 24, at Unity Health Center-North Campus.
She was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Lindsey to Roy J. Holliday and Williw L. (Bryant)
Holliday.
Martin graduated from Willis High School in 1944.
On Feb. 25, 1955, she married George Martin in Conroe, Texas.
Betty moved from Texas to Shawnee in 1966. She was employed as a greeter at
Wal-Mart for 18 years before retiring in 2000.
She was a member of Central Church of Christ and loved spending time with her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband in 1985, five brothers and
one sister.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice Watson and Becky King, both of Shawnee;
five grandchildren and spouses, Amber and Jason Lemaster of Shawnee, David and
Theresa Bernard of Shawnee, Kimberly Wright of Shawnee, Kelli Watson, Timothy
Blossom; three great-grandchildren, Laccee Barnell, Ashton Lemaster and Kylie
Watson.

She was born Oct. 30, 1917, in Weaubleaw, Mo., to Charles and Noma (Paschal)
Holland.
She was married April 20, 1937, in Cushing to Jimmie B. Fugate. He preceded her
in death in 1993.
She was a member of the Methodist Church of Noble.
Also preceding her in death are her parents and brother, Thomas W. Holland.

Sammy Marin Street

Shawnee resident Sammy Marin Street, 84, died Saturday, July 23, at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1920, in Cold Spring, Texas, to Alvin Street and Lurah
(Allen) Street.
On Aug. 3, 1942, he married Evelena Ingram in Galveston, Texas.
He served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and as a
bridge constructor in the oil field.
In 1960 he moved from Dennison, Texas, to Shawnee. He enjoyed woodworking,
gardening, fishing and playing dominoes. But his true joy was spending time with
his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Evelena Street, of the home; five children and
spouses, Charles and Beth Street of Norman, Janice and Kenton Rethford of
Shawnee, Danny and Cathy Street of Shellknob, Mo., Susie and Greg Loman of
Shawnee and Keith and Michelle Street of Mustang; nine grandchildren, Scott,
Brandon, Rebecca, Chris, Josh, Justin, Dace, Tyler and Morgan; four
great-grandchildren, Briana, Bailey, Braden and Charley; two brothers, Hubert
and Eric Street; one sister, Velma Sommers.

Former Tecumseh resident Daisy Wilson Cope, 94, died Sunday, July 24, in Midwest
City.
She was born Oct. 5, 1910, in Seminole to Frank and Ida M. (Collier) Stewart.
She was reared in Tecumseh and was a 1932 graduate of Tecumseh High School.
Cope also had lived in Oklahoma City, but made her home in Tecumseh most of her
life. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Tecumseh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Raymond Wilson in
1991; her second husband, Elmo Cope, in 1994; two sisters, Gladys Rutledge and
LaVerne Richardson.
Surviving relatives include her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Linda Wilson of
Midwest City; five grandchildren, Donna Mayo of Tecumseh, Jimmy Wilson of
Kingfisher, Michael Wilson of Tecumseh, Shelly Edwards of Moore and Cindy Brown
of Norman; eleven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and two
sisters, Ozeta Reeves of Del City and Pauline O'Neal of Oklahoma City.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack
Bettis, Heavenly Heights Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, officiating. Burial

Barbara Beverly Smith

Barbara Beverly "BeBe" Smith, 72, passed away Saturday, July 23, in Austin,
Texas.
She was born Nov. 21, 1933, to Fern Little Bayles and Virgil Bayles in Shawnee.
She grew up in Shawnee and was involved with the Oklahoma Red Cross.
Barbara graduated from Neff Business College in 1951.
On June 28, 1953, she married Bill R. Smith. Together they raised two sons and
two daughters. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
In later years, she settled in the Austin area where she spent her time
painting, gardening and reading. One of the many things that she enjoyed was
volunteering for the Hudson Bend Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. The Auxiliary
was a great part of her life and brought her many smiles. She enjoyed her life
and cherished those in it.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Bill R. Smith;
daughters, Deese Dawn of Clarksville, Tenn., Kelly Stacy of Shawnee; sons, Paul
M. Smith and his wife, Kristina, of Austin, Texas, Larry Todd Smith of Austin,
Texas; granddaughters, Susan Stacy, Jennifer Stacy and Kyrie Smith; grandsons,
Shane Howard, Blane Howard, Perry Scott, Jacob Stacy, B.J. Smith, and Hayden
Smith; 7 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at
Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks, Austin, Texas.

Charles Richard See Sr.
He was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Shawnee to Charles William and Ester (Loftis) See.
On June 9, 1950, he married Geraldine Baker at the Church of Christ in Shawnee.
He served in the U.S. Navy, a veteran of the Korean War. While stationed in
Guam, he saved a child's life by transferring information via his ham radio to
needed services.
See was a talented artist and played many types of stringed instruments. He was
a private pilot and a professional photographer. He built his own airplane and
started a business selling aerial photographs. He became an electronics
technician and retired from Abbott Laboratories in 1996.
He was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God and a loving husband and
father.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Geraldine See; son, Charles Richard See
Jr. of Texas; daughters, Gae Dawn Parrish of Oklahoma, Linda Kaye Tabbert of
Texas; brother, Heraldine See of Arkansas; grandsons, Trevor Kantak, Michael
Buckmaster and Skyler Tabbert of Texas.

Ina R. (Pinkston) Cole, beloved wife, mother, sister and child
of God, was called home Tuesday, July 26.
She was born Feb. 18, 1951, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Noel and Elinor Ruth (Lane)
Pinkston.
On Oct. 17, 1989, she married Brian Cole in Arkansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Pinkston, and a sister,
Maybelle Pinkston.
Survivors include her husband, Brian, of the home; son, John Mundy and his wife,
Kryssa, and grandson, Bryce, of Kansas City; son, Chris Mundy and his wife,
Jamie, of Moore; stepson, Craig Cole of Norman; stepson, Anthony Cole and his
wife, Twyla, and granddaughter, Elizabeth, of Lawton; sister and brother-in-law,
Laverne and Mark Ramsey of Shawnee; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and
nephews.
Ina touched many lives during her brief stay on this earth and was a friend and
helper to any and all who needed her. She will be missed by all.

James Allen Madden
Benbrook, Texas, resident James Allen Madden, 75, died Saturday, July 23, at
Community Hospice of Fort Worth, Texas.
He was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Tulsa to James and Myrl Madden.
On Dec. 21, 1951, he married Jackie Ann Simpson.
He retired from General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) in 1993 after 37 years of
service.
Jim was a loving son, husband and friend who will be missed by many.

Tecumseh resident Wanda June (Collum) Stovell, 72, passed from this life Monday,
July 25, in Oklahoma City. Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the First Assembly
of God, 104 S. 4th in Tecumseh, with the Rev. Chad Brodrick and the Rev. Robert
Rider officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction

She was born June 15, 1933, in Maud to Escar and Mildred (Barrow) Collum. She
was reared in the Maud/Harjo area and was a graduate of Harjo School.
On Nov. 22, 1951, she married Melvin Stovell in Tecumseh. They have resided in
the Okay Community since 1960.
She was employed at Sylvania for several years. She was a member of the First
Assembly of God, where she served as nursery attendent and many other capacities
at the church.
Wanda enjoyed gardening, cooking and attending to the needs of others. Her
family, especially her children and grandchildren, were the focal point of her
life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, "Red" Collum.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin Stovall, of the home; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Larry and Elizabeth Stovall of Tecumseh, Jeff and Marsha

Former Tecumseh resident Erma Jean Kinsey-Garcia, 72, died Monday, July 25, in
Abilene, Texas.
She was born Oct. 1, 1932, in Shaddy Point, Okla, to Lewis and Lois Cagle
Kinsey.
Erma was a lifelong resident of Tecumseh except for the last six months.
She worked for many years in the bakery at Humpty Dumpty Grocery before her
retirement.
On June 2, 1959, she married Rudy Garcia in California.
She was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Rudy, in 1991; sister, Loetta
Gifford.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Ronda and Fred Foster of

Choctaw resident Bartholomew "B.D." Lairson, 81, died Tuesday, July 26 in
Oklahoma City.
He was born Oct. 20, 1923, in Maud to William and Mattie Lea (Pierce) Lairson.
He lived in the Shawnee, Tecumseh and Pink areas most of his life.
On April 30, 1962, he married Inez Kimball in Sallisaw.
He worked in various maintenance positions since his retirement from Tinker Air
Force Base in 1964.
He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed gardening and most
of all his grandchildren.
Lairson is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Cordelia Gilbert, and
grandchild, Tiffini Whorton.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Lairson, of the home; daughter and son-in-law,

Lifelong Shawnee resident Mildred Caroline (Woods) Thurman, 79, passed away
Monday, July 25, at a local nursing home.
She was born June 17, 1926, in Shawnee to Claude and Edith (Cook) Woods. She
graduated from Shawnee High School in 1944.
She was married in 1951 to Dick Thurman.
Mildred was a homemaker. She was a member of Shawnee Faith Assembly, RSVP, a
volunteer for Project H.E.A.R.T. and of the Humane Society. She delivered meals
on wheels and visited the residents of the Shawnee and Tecumseh nursing homes.
She was loved by many people and brought joy to their lives. She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Cleo Woods; son, Mike Ward;
grandson, Brandon Sharp.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Mary (Thurman) and Tom Sharp of
Shawnee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Howell of Tulsa, Claudia and Oral
Becker of Shawnee; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a niece,
four nephews; a great-nephew.

Moore resident Robert T. "Bob" Russell, 74, died Tuesday, July 26, at his home.
He was born July 30, 1930, in Elmore City to John Henry and Mary Orlena Russell.
Bob grew up in the Elmore City area.
On Aug. 29, 1979, he married Mary Ann Johnson in Norman.
He joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War.
Bob was employed at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement in 1987.
He had lived in Elmore City for 20 years and in Moore for the past 7 months.
Bob was a member of the VFW Post 4576 in Pauls Valley. He loved music, playing
the guitar and dancing. He also enjoyed making wooden toys, sports and reading.
Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Robert Michael Russell; sister,
Maudie Kinard; six brothers, James, Ollie, Earnest, Harmon, LeRoy and Floyd.

Madelynn Paige Jordan Burger
Madelynn Paige Jordan Burger, stillborn daughter of Leroy Burger and Michelle
Jordan of Shawnee, passed away Monday, July 25, at a local hospital.
Survivors include her parents; sister, Jalynn Jordan of the home; brothers,
Wesley and Matthew Burger; grandparents, Fred and Vicki Jordan of Shawnee and
Gary and Debbie Burger of Prague; great-grandparents, Fred Jordan of Muskogee,
Jimmy and Warnetha Simek of Sparks, Patsy Ward of Sparks, Leroy Johnson of
Wellston, Carol Collings of Wellston and Melvin Burger of Meeker;
great-great-grandmothers, Julie Booth of Meeker and Maudie Hardesty of Wellston;
uncle, Erik Jordan and cousins, Jacey, Kami and Teagun Jordan of Newcastle.
Service will be 10 a.m. today at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev.
Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under
the direction of Walker Funeral Service.

Kathy Miller Kinzey

Norman resident Kathy Miller Kinzey, 58, died Thursday, July 28,
at her home.
Ms. Kinzey was born April 24, 1947, in Wanette to Gordon and Lucille (Stover)
Miller. She graduated from Wanette High School in 1964. She was active in
cheerleading, D.A.R. and F.H.A. She attended Oklahoma State University, where
she was a member of Sigma Delta Chi Sorority. Kathy graduated from Seminole
Junior College with a Registered Nursing Degree in 1976. She practiced as a
Registered Nurse at Mercy and Presbyterian Hospitals in Oklahoma City and
Horizon Specialty Hospital in Edmond. She retired in 1998 due to blindness from
complications of Type I diabetes.
Ms. Kinzey was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Lucille Miller;
brother, Ike Miller; and niece, Dana Cline.
Survivors include two sisters, Ann Miller Pedigo of Norman and Colleen Cline of
Goldsby; brother-in-law, Wyvern Cline of Goldsby; nieces, Kayla Yerkey of
Goldsby, Marla Clutter of Blanchard, Tara Foutch of Purcell, Geneva Miller of
San Antonio, Texas, and Michelle Miller of Tecumseh; nephew, Dr. Aaron Cline of
Goldsby; great-nephews, Clay Cline of Norman and Colton and Caleb Cline of
Goldsby; great-nieces, Cassie Cline of Goldsby and Mindy and Gemma Foutch of
Purcell; and many cousins and friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wanette Cemetery Chapel in Wanette with
the Rev. Joe Grizzle officiating. Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Aaron Cline, Clay Cline, Lee Yerkey, Don Foutch, Mike
Stover, Colton Cline and Caleb Cline.
Memorials may be made to Cross Pointe Church Youth Ministry and Building Fund at
S.E. 24th and Hwy 9, Norman, OK 73071.

Dennis James Harris
Dennis James Harris, 47, McLoud, died Thursday, July 28, 2005,
at a local hospital.
He was born Nov. 13, 1957, in Oklahoma City to Robert Gale and Nancy R.
(Livingston) Harris. He graduated from McLoud High School and attended Rose
State College.
On Aug. 25, 1979, he married Beckie Voss. He worked as an environmental engineer
for FAA in Oklahoma City and lived in the McLoud area most of his life.
His father and grandfather preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Beckie Harris, of the home; daughter Shaunna Harris of
McLoud, mother Nancy Harris of McLoud, grandmother Ruth Livingston of Oklahoma
City; and a brother and sister-in-law, Shaun and Lisa Harris of McKinney, Texas.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service
with the Rev. Norman Kiker officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
The casket will be open until service time.

Grace Marie Couch
Former Shawnee resident Grace Marie Couch, 95, of Pryor died Wednesday, July 27,
2005, in Pryor.
She was born Feb. 12, 1910, in Shawnee to James and Ethel (Dryer) Casey. She
grew up and went to school in Shawnee and later attended Oklahoma Baptist
University.
She married Larry Mills in 1940, then married Paul Couch in 1960. She owned and
operated the Mills Dairy Mart in Pryor for seven years until 1962.
While living in Shawnee, she worked as an evening operator for the Shawnee
Telephone Company. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Pryor and a
member of the U Need Us Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands.
Surviving are special friends Darrell and Pat Pruitt of Pryor and Bill Johnson
of Tulsa; and seven cousins: Leon Casey and Amy Casey, both of Shawnee; Beth
Vogt of Oklahoma City; Saundra Johnson of Shawnee; Sue Johnson of Macomb; Era
Walker of Springdale, Ark.; and Blanch Wilson of Shawnee.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Key Funeral Home in Pryor. Online

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at Resthaven Memorial Park
Cemetery in Shawnee with the Rev. Don Baker officiating. Key Funeral Home of

Robert Owen Bailey, 84, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at his home
near Davenport.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Davenport Cemetery with

Elizabeth "Betty" M. Weatherley
Elizabeth "Betty" M. Weatherley, 73, of Meeker died Friday, July 29, 2005, in
Shawnee.
She was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Leavenworth, Kan., to Shirley Ernest Fleming and
Ruby Lee (Miller) Fleming.
She married Franklin A. Weatherley on Jan. 7, 1950, in Desarc, Ark. Betty and
Frank had made their home in Meeker since 1967. She was a member of the Catholic
Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Phillip Fleming.
Surviving are her husband, Franklin Weatherley, of the home; sons and
daughters-in-law, F. Michael and Kathy Weatherley of Manvel, Texas; W. Steven
and Sherri Weatherly of Shawnee; and David and Donna Weatherley of Tecumseh;
daughters and son-in-law, Pamela R. and Richard Lucas of Meeker and Patricia L.
Weatherley of Moore; brothers, Charles Fleming of Tulahoma, Tenn., Lawrence
Fleming, Martin Fleming, Richard Fleming and Randolph Fleming, all of Ottawa,
Ill., and William Fleming of Shelbyville, Tenn.; sisters, Lola Sellers of
Ottawa, Ill., Arlene Turner of Streator, Ill., Rebecca Hershler of Atwater,
Calif., Donna Baer of Carrier Mills, Ill., Melissa Lowe of Streator, Ill., and
Colleen Meier of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and 28
great-grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be at Park Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Meeker
until 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2.
A wake service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at St. Michael's Catholic Church
in Meeker. Mass will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday, also at St. Michael's, with the
Rev. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope
Cemetery in Meeker. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral
Service in Meeker.
