FAVOR
Funeral services for Arzella Faye NEALE FAVOR were held Wednesday, Oct. 28,
at the Hart Memorial Chapel in Westville with Rev. Audie Vaughan officiating.
Interment followed in the Proctor Cemetery.
Arzella Faye NEALE FAVOR was born in The Dalles, Ore., on Dec. 20, 1912.
She passed from this life Oct. 26, 1998, in Stilwell at the age of 85 years,
10 months and 6 days. She came back to Christie, Okla., as a young child
and has lived around Westville all her life. She married Zimri "Cot" NEALE
on June 11, 1933, and to this union two children were born: Naomi Ruth and
Gerald Howard. She was married to Earl FAVOR in November 1987. She was preceded
in death by her parents: Will and Myrtle Edna BRANNON, two husbands and one
grandson.
She is survived by one daughter, Ruth of Okla.; one son Gerald of Okla.;
four grandchildren, Caron, Cliff and Daniel of Okla. and Robert of Colo.;
six great-grandchildren; one sister, Willa Dean of Okla.; and one brother
Earl of Mich.
NEWMAN
Funeral services for Dorthy Dimple NEWMAN were held Monday, Nov. 2, 1998,
at the Hart Memorial Chapel in Stilwell with Rev. Jackie Patterson and Rev.
Mike Fink officiating. Interment was at Spade Mountain Cemetery.
She was born April 21, 1915 in Madison County, Ark., to Charles Cannon and
Minnie Maeopolis MARS HOOPER. She departed this life Oct. 30, 1998, in Stilwell,
Okla., at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 9 days. Dimple was married to
Luther NEWMAN on Feb. 22, 1926, in Stilwell. He preceded her in death on
July 13, 1984. She was a homemaker and was of the Holiness faith. She attended
the Rocky Mountain Bible Church at the time she became ill. She also attended
the Rocky Mountain Community Church and Wauhilla Free Holiness whenever she
could. She was preceded in death by her husband Luther NEWMAN, her parents,
13 brothers and sisters and one grandchild.
Dimple is survived by four daughters: Aliene, Irene and Coriene, all of Okla.,
and Darlene of S.D.; three sons: Charles, Thomas and Jack, all of Okla.;
31 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
BRADY
John Terrance Brady, 75, of Anderson, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at
Joplin, Mo., after a long illness.
John was born Feb. 1, 1923 to Frank and Agnes MCCORMICK BRADY at Enid. He
was raised in Enid and attended St. Joseph Academy. He was a member of St.
Elizabeth Catholic Church in Grove. He worked at Simmons poultry plant, Southwest
City, Mo., for 23 years. Survivors include a brother, Terry of Stilwell,
Okla.; two sisters, Agnes and Theresa, both of Okla. He was preceded in death
by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, at Calvary
Cemetery in Enid. Officiating at the service was Father Larry Kolawski. Memorial
contributions were given to St. Gregory Catholic Church Good Samaritan Fund.
BUNYARD
Funeral services for Ruth JORDAN BUNYARD, 81, of Tahlequah, were held Friday,
Oct. 30, 1998, at Reed-Culver Chapel with Rev. Berneil ROGERS officiating.
Burial was in Tahlequah City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy CLINE, Dwight
STACY, Luke JACKSON, Garland MCCHRISTIAN, Julian HORNET and Jack LANKFORD.
Mrs. BUNYARD was born April 26, 1917, in Stilwell, the daughter of Henry
and Rebecca CRITTENDEN JORDAN, and she died Oct. 28, 1998, in Tahlequah.
Mrs. BUNYARD attended school in Adair and Cherokee Counties. Ruth married
Howard BUNYARD on June 25, 1940, in Tahlequah and was a homemaker for 58
years. Mrs. BUNYARD was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Chester
JORDAN; one sister Nadine WOODARD; and three brothers-in-law, Ray SCOTT,
V.L. CAPPS and Paul HOGAN.
Survivors include her husband Howard, of the home; one daughter, Carolyn
Sue of Tahlequah; one granddaughnter, Lisa Ann of Tahlequah; and three sisters,
Alice, Minnie and Wilma, all of Okla.
BUNCH
Sam BUNCH, Jr., son of Samuel BUNCH and Gussie COCHRAN BUNCH was born July
28, 1946, in Tahlequah, and departed this life into eternity at his home
at the age of 52 years, 2 months and 26 days.
He was married to Roberta GRIMMETT in May 1971 and to this union were born
two children, Jeffery and Patricia. Sam worked many years on a road construction
crew. He is preceded in death by both parents, one brother and two
sisters.>br? He is survived by his wife Roberta; one son, Jeffery; one
daughter Patricia; one step-daughter, Rachel; one step-son, Scott; three
brothers Gary Wayne, Richard and Joe; three sisters Guss, Lorena and Laura,
all of Okla.; four grandchildren, Scott and Kent of Ark., and Dakota and
Shelldon of Okla.
FULLBRIGHT
Funeral services for Noma Lee FULLBRIGHT, 86, of Hartwell, Ga., were held
at 2 p.m. Monday at Agent Chapel in Sallisaw, with the Rev. Brian Zinck
officiating. Burial was in Akins Cemetery, northeast of Sallisaw, under the
direction of Agent Funeral Home is Sallisaw.
Mrs. FULLBRIGHT was born June 4, 1912, in the Maple community, to John and
Carrie (KELTON) TAYLOR. She died Friday, Oct. 30, 1998, in Royston, Ga. She
married Floyd Franklin FULLBRIGHT May 8, 1935, in Webbers Falls. He preceded
her in death June 15, 1990.
Survivors include one son, Danny; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
one sister, Venita; and two brothers Tom Cass and Jack. Mrs. FULLBRIGHT was
also preceded in death by one son, Billy Mack FULLBRIGHT, and one brother,
Clayton TAYLOR.

CHEATHAM
Lloyd Ronald CHEATHAM, son of Wyette Tucker CHEATHAM and Carrie ANDREWS CHEATHAM
was born March 24, 1938 in Lincoln, Ark., and departed this life to be with
his Lord on November 6, 1998 at his home in Westville at the age of 60 years,
7 months, and 12 days.
Lloyd was married to Carolyn COOMBES on Sept. 4, 1965 and from this union
were born two children; Lloyd, Jr. and Ivanne. He was a graduate of Lincoln
High School in Lincoln, Ark. He was a farmer and rancher and lived in the
Lincoln and Westville area his entire life. He is preceded in death by both
parents, three brothers: Loren, Cecil and Wayne CHEATHAM and one sister:
Bernice MCGOWEN. He is survived by: his wife, Carolyn of the home; one son,
Lloyd; one
daughter, Ivanne; one granddaughter, Brittany, all of Okla.; two brothers,
Davie and Junior, both of Ark.; three sisters, Ruth of Okla., and Mary and
Jane, both of Ark.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 9, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Assembly
of God Church in Westville with Bro. Mike Hayes officiating. Interment followed
at the Cheatham Family Cemetery in Lincoln, Ark., under the direction of
Roberts Funeral Home of Westville, Okla.
LANIER
Woodrow Wilson LANIER, son of Charles LANIER and Ida PAYNE LANIER was born
November 3, 1912 in Farmersville, Texas, and departed this life to be with
his Lord on November 6, 1998 at Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs, Ark.,
at the age of 86 years and 2 days.
Woodrow was married to Vivian YOUNG at Westville, Okla., in 1939 and from
this union were born four children: Charles, Jerry, Pat and Peggy. Woodrow
was a farmer and rancher in the Adair County area for many years. He enjoyed
his duties that came with farming and ranching. He was a member of the Westville
Masonic Lodge for a number of years. He is preceded in death by both parents,
one son, Jerry LANIER, who was killed in Vietnam, and one brother; Max
LANIER.
He is survived by his wife Vivian, of the home; one son, Charles of Okla.;
two daughters, Pat of Okla., and Peggy of Wash.; one sister, Lucille of Okla.;
eleven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Roberts
Funeral Home Chapel in Westville with interment following at the Westville
City Cemetery.
LESLIE
Funeral services for Cleo ROBBINS LESLIE, 92, were held Nov. 7, at Luginbuel
Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ralph Heiney officiating. She was born on Jan. 28,
1906 in Scraper, Indian Territory, to Robert Lee and Mahalia LEWIS ROBBINS.
She died Nov. 5, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
She married E.C. LESLIE in Stilwell moving from Bunch to Stilwell then to
Langley in 1953. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by both parents,
her husband E.C.; two children, Billie Jean LESLIE and Carolyn HARRISON;
seven brothers, Earl, I.T., Clyde, Carl, Olen, George and Kelsey ROBBINS;
and two sisters, Mona CAVIN and Mildred ROBBINS. She is survived by daughter,
JoAnne of Texas; one brother, Glen of Okla.; one sister, Galelia of Okla.;
five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Dallas, Texas, under the direction
of Luginbuel Funeral Home.
LONG
Funeral services for George Edward LONG, 66, of Tahlequah, were held Nov.
11, at Hart Funeral Chapel with Rev. V.O. Barker officiating.
He was born on April 30, 1932 in Stilwell to Cornelius and Minnie DAVIS LONG.
He died Nov. 7, at his home in Tahlequah. He was a lifetime resident of
Tahlequah. He accepted Christ as his Savior as a young boy. He served in
the U.S. Army as a Sergeant from 1953-1955 and retired from the maintenance
department at Northeastern State University in 1992. He was preceded in death
by his parents and two infant brothers, Cornelius LONG Jr. and Roger Dale
LONG.
He is survived by his daughter, Annette and one granddaughter Vanessa, both
of Okla.; two sisters, Clara and Mary Ann, both of Okla.; seven brothers,
Lewis and David, both of Tenn., Nophaie, Andy, James, Steve and J.C., all
of Okla.; and two aunts, Maudie and Minnie, both of Okla. Burial was in the
Freewater Cemetery in Adair County under the direction of Hart Funeral Home
of Tahlequah, Okla.
LUETHJE
Funeral services for Norman Howard LUETHJE were held Tuesday, Nov. 10, at
Hart Memorial Chapel in Westville, with Bro. Mike Patrick officiating. Interment
followed at Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home
of Westville.
He was born June 10, 1934 in Independence, Kan., to William Ernest and Nellie
Evelyn MINOR LUETHJE. He departed this life Nov. 7, 1998, at Memorial Hospital
in Stilwell, at the age of 64 years, 4 months and 27 days. Norman served
in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a propane manager
for Liberty Propane. On July 4, 1960, he married Wilma TAYLOR in Seminole,
Texas. Norman was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in
Westville. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Nellie LUETHJE,
one brother Delmar LUETHJE, one sister, Dorothy Mae LUETHJE and one grandson,
Joshua Obadiah CRITTENDEN.
Norman is survived by his wife Wilma of the home; four sons, Alan of Mo.,
David and Dwayne, both of Okla., and Joseph of Ark.; three daughters Anna
Marie, Norma Louise and Carol Lynn, all of Okla.; 21 grandchildren; four
sisters, Wanda, Vera, Hazel and Evelyn, all of Okla.; four brothers, Wilford
of Ariz., Arnold and Charles, both of Okla., and Daniel of Mo.
THOMPSON
Funeral services for Hazel Agnes THOMPSON, 88, of Stilwell were held Nov.
7, at Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Brother Bobby Cothren
officiating.
She was born on May 24, 1920 in Stilwell to Albert B. HUNTER and Addie KELLEY
HUNTER. She died Nov. 2, at Stilwell Memorial Hospital. She was married to
Floyd Augusta THOMPSON on Oct. 21, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded
in death by both parents, her husband Floyd in March 1998 and three brothers,
Sonny, Arthur and Jack HUNTER.
She is survived by three sons, Darrel of Texas, Tommy of Ill., and Michael
of Georgia; three brothers, James of Mo., Farold of New York and Harold of
Okla.; five sisters, Mary, Florence, Betty, Maxine and Velta, all of Okla.;
14 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchilren. Interment was in the Stilwell
City Cemetery.
WATERS
Graveside services for Myrtle Lorene WATERS, 99, of Stilwell, were held Nov.
7, at the Stilwell City Cemetery. She was born on Sept. 16, 1899 on a farm
near Long, Indian Territory, to William Marcus ROGERS and Maybelle PATTERSON
ROGERS. She died Nov. 2, at Park Blvd. Care Center in Muskogee.
She was married to Rupert Alvis WATERS on April 13, 1921. She was a graduate
of Stilwell High School and Northeastern State College. She taught school
in Arkansas and Oklahoma for many years until retirement. She was active
in a number of organizations including Oklahoma Education Association, A.D.K
and Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband
Rupert in 1992 and one son, Dr. Feron WATERS in 1997.
She is survived by one son, Tom of Okla.; six grandchildren, David, Steve,
Bill, Bob, Jim and Judy; and two great grandchildren, Andrew and Adam. Services
were under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Stilwell.

BATEMAN
Funeral services for Florence Lucille HUNTER BATEMAN were held Tuesday, Nov.
17, 1998, at the Hart Memorial Chapel in Stilwell with Bro. Jim Varnell
officiating. Interment followed at Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Stilwell to Albert Bryson and Addie Ruth KELLEY
HUNTER. She departed this life Nov. 15, 1998, in Stilwell at the age of 82
years, 1 month and 10 days. Florence married to Bill Bateman on Dec. 23,
1967 in Nowata, Okla. She was a clothing store clerk.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Albert and Addie HUNTER; one son,
Clifford Ray HUNTER; three brother, Sonny, Arthur and Jack HUNTER; and one
sister, Hazel THOMPSON
Florence is survived by her husband Bill; four sisters, Mary, Betty, Maxine
and Velta, all of Okla.; three brothers, J.W. of Missouri, Farold of New
York and Harold of Okla.; three step-sons, Billy James , Donald and Wayne,
all of Okla.; one step-daughter, and Fern of Ore.
VANN
Bissie VANN, daughter of Jesse BYRD and Sissie MITCHELL BYRD was born Oct.
30, 1910, in Chewey, Okla., and departed this life to be with her Lord on
Nov. 10, 1998, at Grace Living Center in Tahlequah, at the age of 88 years
and 10 days.
Bissie was married to Tom VANN in 1924 and to this union were born seven
children: Leona, Molly, J.T., Rex, Lincoln, Betty and Jimmie. She was a lifelong
resident of the Chewey area and a faithful member of the Illinois River Baptist
Church. She is preceded in death by both parents, two brothers; Charlie STAND
and Felix BYRD; one sister, Minnie NORTON; and one child, Jimmy VANN.
She is survived by three sons: J.T., Lincoln and Rex, all of Okla.; three
daughters: Leona Mae of Mo., Molly and Betty Jean, both of Okla.; one brother,
Steve of Okla.; one sister, Lillie Mae of Okla.; 23 grandchildren; and 57
great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Thursday, Nov. 12, at Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Westville
with Bro. Wayne FORRESTER and Bro. Raymond GLASS officiating. Interment followed
at Johnson Cemetery in West Siloam Springs, Okla.
POTTER
Funeral services for John Thomas POTTER were held Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998,
at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Stilwell with Bro. John Brewer officiating.
Interment followed in Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Hart
Funeral Home of Stilwell.
He was born Sept. 3, 1980, in Stilwell, Okla., to Velt G. and Kathie L. FEANE
POTTER. He departed this life Nov. 7, 1998, in Stilwell at the age of 18
years, 2 months and 4 days. John was a senior at Stilwell High School where
he was a member of the S.H.S. football team. He was a member of the Fellowship
Baptist Church in Stilwell.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, L.J. "Jim" POTTER.
John is survived by his parents, Velt and Kathie, one sister, Adrienne, one
brother, Kevin, all of the home; his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Olive
of New Jersey; his paternal grandmother, Berniece of Okla.; and his uncle
Allen of Calif.
SNOW
Funeral services for Reverend James R. Snow, 53, of Wister, were held Wednesday,
at 2 p.m., Nov. 18, at Hart Memorial Chapel in Tahlequah with Rev. Doyle
Baker officiating.
He was born on April 1, 1945 in Muskogee to Marion Rufus and Edna Viola KIRK
SNOW. He died Nov. 14 in Wister. He served in the National Guard and had
been employed as a welder and a glacier. He was married to Fairon K. ORMAN
on Nov. 18, 1977 in Stilwell. He was assistant pastor of Wister Pentecostal
Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marion SNOW; an infant son, Jackie
Lee SNOW; two sisters, Mary and June SNOW and two brothers, Dallas and Paul
SNOW.
He is survived by his wife, Farion of the home; his mother Edna; four sons,
Stacy of Kans., and Gene, Danny and James, all of Okla.; one daughter, Lethia
of Okla.; five brothers, Euegene, Alfred, Truman, Edward and Kenneth, all
of Okla.; and eight grandchildren.
Interment was in the Blue Springs Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral
Home of Tahlequah.
BRASHEAR
Darrell L. Brashear of Siloam Springs, Ark., passed away Nov. 17, 1998, at
his home.
He was born Nov. 28, 1944, the son of Carl and Winnie WORLEY BRASHEAR of
Stilwell. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Westville.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce WALKINGSTICK BRASHEAR, to whom he was married
36 years; two daughters, Boot and Carla, both of Ark.; two sisters, Robbie
and Donna, both of Okla.; one brother Leon of Okla.; and one extended family
member, Jeremy of Siloam Springs.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, at 2 p.m. at the Westville
Assembly of God Church. Pastor Mike HAYES will be officiating the service.
Burial will be at Baptist Mission Cemetery following the service.
THIRSTY
Adam George THIRSTY, son of John Goodmoney THIRSTY and Lucy NIX THIRSTY was
born April 10, 1918, in Jay and departed this life to be with his Lord on
Nov. 15, 1998, at his home in the Rocky Mountain Community at the age of
80 years, 7 months and 4 days.
Adam was married to Willie Mae KINGFISHER in 1956 and to this union were
born three children: Deloris, Carolyn and Adam Jr. He was a faithful member
of the Johnson Pritchett Baptist Church in Rocky Mountain Community.
He is preceded in death by both parents, three brothers, Ralph, Redwing and
William, and one daughter Sharon Sue THIRSTY.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae of the home; four daughters, Harriett,
Deloris and Carolyn of Okla., and Marietta of Ark.; one son, Adam Jr. of
Okla.; three step-daughters Wilma, Erma and Phyllis, all of Okla.; four sisters
Rachel, Sally, Ella Mae and Edna, all of Okla; 11 grandchildren; 11
step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m. at the
Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home Chapel in Stilwell with Bro. Dennis GONZALIS
officiating. Interment will follow at the Echota Cemetery.

HOOPER
Funeral services for Rufus HOOPER, 60, of Tahlequah, were held 2 p.m. Friday,
Nov. 20, in the Green Country Funeral Home Chapel in Tahlequah. Officiating
was Ed JUMPER. Pallbearers were Eddie HOLMES, Kenneth DRYWATER, Andy DRYWATER
and Hoe DRYWATER. Interment followed at the Agent Cemetery in Cherokee
County.
Rufus HOOPER was born Feb. 11, 1938, in Cookson, the son of Nannie HANDLE
HOOPER and Roy HOOPER. He died in Tahlequah on Nov. 17, 1998, after reaching
the age of 60 years, 9 months and 6 days.
Rufus attended Wyandotte Schools. In 1955 he married Geneva DREADFULWATER,
his wife of 43 years. They were married in Muskogee. Rufus worked for
several years at the Oklahoma State Employment Office in Muskogee until his
health forced him to retire in 1976. He had been a minister at Mt. Zion Baptist
Church since 1970.
Rufus was prededed in death by his father Roy HOOPER, a daughter Christine
HOOPER, and a brother Bob HOOPER.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva of the home, his mother Nannie, and seven
children: Letha, Jerry, Terry, Joe, Dawna, Eda Fay and Rufus Jr.; six sister,
two brothers, 22 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of other
family members, friends and loved ones.
ANDERSON
Funeral services for John Wesley ANDERSON, 37, of Tahlequah, were held Tuesday,
Nov. 24, 1998, at Reed-Culver Chapel with Rev. Larry Lashley officiating.
Burial followed in Park Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Martin WALLS, David
HALL, Johnny HALL, Jason HALL, Christopher WALLS, and Travis WALLS. Alternate
pallbearers were Mitchell ANDERSON, Johnathan HALL, Bruce HOOD and Brian
TIDWELL.
Wes was born July 7, 1961, in Kingsburg, Calif., one of five children to
John and Reba ANDERSON. He attended school in Spiro and Stilwell. Upon
graduating, he worked for Stilwell Foods for a few years. He took schooling
on how to be a telephone technician and worked for Tri-Tel and then became
self-employed for many years.
Mr. ANDERSON was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Survivors include his loving wife, Bobbie, of the home; two sons, Wesley
and Bradley, both of the home; one daughter, Susan of Texas; his father John
of Ark.; his mother, Reba of Okla.; two sisters, Judy of Okla. and Christy
of Ark.; grandfather, Fred of Okla.; and two grandsons, Christopher and Rodney
of Texas.
BRASHEAR
Darrell L. BRASHEAR, Siloam Springs, Ark., son of Carl BRASHEAR and Winnie
WORLEY BRASHEAR was born November 28, 1944 in Stilwell, and departed this
life to be with his Lord November 17, 1998 at his home at the age of 53 years,
11 months and 19 days.
Darrell was married to Joyce WALKINGSTICK on June 16, 1962 and to this union
were born two daughters: Boot and Carla. Darrell was in the grocery business
for many years before retirement. He was a faithful member of the Westville
Assembly of God Church. He is preceded in death by both parents.
He is survived by: his wife, Joyce of the home, two daughters, Boot and Carla,
both of Ark.; two sisters, Robbie and Donna, both of Okla.; one brother,
Leon of Okla.; two grandsons, Drew and Mitchell, both of Ark.; and one extended
family member, Jeremy of Ark.
Funeral services were held Thursday, November 19, at the Westville Assembly
of God Church with Bro. Mike HAYES officiating. Interment was held at the
Old Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
CARPENTER
Graveside services for Kenneth Rex CARPENTER, 60, of Watts was held at 2
p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at Bell Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Beavers
officiating.
CARPENTER was born March 9, 1938, in Watts and died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998,
in Little Rock, Ark., at the VA Hospital. He was a truck driver for Simmons
Foods for 32 years. After his retirement he owned the K&D Towing out
of Westville for three years.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Andrew James and Sylvia
CARPENTER, four sisters and four brothers.
Survivors are his wife AnnaBelle HAIR CARPENTER of the home; one son, Derrick;
one daughter, Rhonda; two grandsons, Daniel and Steve; and one brother, Eugene,
all of Okla.
CHRISTIE
Funeral services for Bessie CHRISTIE, 90, of Tahlequah, were held Friday,
November 20, at Reed-Culver Chapel with Rev. Jess FRENCH officiating. Burial
was in the South Bunch Cemetery under the direction of Reed-Culver Funeral
Home of Tahlequah.
Mrs. CHRISTIE was born August 9, 1908 in Tahlequah, the daughter of William
and Martha LONG BOLIN, and she died November 17, 1998 in Tahlequah.
Mrs. CHRISTIE attended Chilocco Schools. Bessie married Joe T. CHRISTIE in
1933. They raised 12 children.
Mrs. CHRISTIE was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; seven
of her children; as well as her brother and sister.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Junior and Jerry Wayne, both of Okla.; four
daughters, Lillie Mae, Ella Mae, Jennie Faye and Lenora, all of Okla.; a
special nephew, Raymond of Georgia; 19 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren,
and 2 great-great grandchildren.
NORRIS
Dorothy Nadean SCRAPER-NORRIS, daughter of Jack MCKLINSKY and Maude MELTON
MCKLINSKY was born November 26, 1917 in Amarillo, Texas, and departed this
life to be with her Lord, Sunday, November 29, 1998 at her home at the age
of 81 years and 3 days.
Dorothy was married to Ernest SCRAPER and to this union were born two children:
Danny and Ricky.
She owned and operated Scraper Store for a number of years. She was a faithful
member of the Guiding Light Church.
After the death of her first husband, she later married James NORRIS. She
is preceded in death by both parents, first husband Ernest SCRAPER and second
husband James NORRIS and one child, Ricky SCRAPER.
She is survived by: one son, Danny and two grandchildren, Brian and Melissa,
all of Okla.; a host of other relatives and many many friends.
Funeral was held Wednesday, December 2, at 1 p.m. at the Guiding Light church
with Bro. Ronnie FORD and Bro. Lee KILLER officiating. Interment followed
at Zion Cemetery.
KNIGHT
Emmett KNIGHT, resident of Las Vegas, Nev., son of Byrd KNIGHT and Nan STARR
KNIGHT, was born June 14, 1926, in Christie and departed this life November
21, 1998 at the Nathan Adelson Hospice Center in Las Vegas, Nev., at the
age of 72 years, 7 months and 7 days. He was a retired drafting engineer.
He is preceded in death by both parents; one son, Jimmie Byrd KNIGHT; one
brother, Haskell KNIGHT; and two sisters, Ruth KNIGHT and Gertrude RECTOR.
He is survived by three sons: Cooyyah, of Okla., and Quanah of Ariz. [only
two are listed]; one sister, Virginia of Okla.; 15 grandchildren; and two
great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 1, at the Old Green Church
in Westville with interment following at the Old Green Cemetery under the
direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Westville.
CHANDLER
Funeral services for Judy CHANDLER, 52, of Jay, were held December 2, at
the Roberts Funeral Chapel in Westville with Brother Wayne FORREST
officiating.
She was born on June 17, 1946 in Chewey to Chester HAMPTON and Oneta FAIN
HAMPTON. She died November 27, 1998 at W.W. Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah
after a long illness.
She was a dairy farmer for 27 years. She was a member of the Illinois River
Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father Chester HAMPTON.
She is survived by three daughters, Lorrie and April, both of Okla., and
Angie of Ark.; her mother, Oneta of Okla.; two brothers, Mac and C.W., both
of Okla.; one sister Janeice, of Okla.; four grandchildren, Dustin, Kelby,
Chance and Shania; two nephews, Wade of Okla., and Kevin of Ark.; numerous
other relatives and friends.
Interment was in the New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral
Home of Westville.
CHRISTIE
Private family services for Robert Dale CHRISTIE will be held at the Stilwell
City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
Robert Dale CHRISTIE was born January 14, 1951, in Tahlequah, to Jess and
Florence Melvina YORK CHRISTIE. He departed this life November 25, 1998,
in Stilwell, at the age of 47 years, 10 months and 11 days. He served in
the U.S. Army and was employed by Greenleaf Nursery.
Rob was married to LuAnna FOURKILLER on February 7, 1995, in Stilwell. He
was of the Baptist faith.
He was precede in death by his father, Jess CHRISTIE, his maternal and paternal
grandparents and one sister, Annie CHRISTIE.
Rob is survived by his wife, LuAnna; his mother, Florence; two sons, Bobby
and Rodney; one daughter, Rhonda, all of Okla.; two step-daughters Shelly
and Lynn, both of Ark.; five grandchildren; five step grandchildren; five
brothers: Bill, Jess, Jack, George and Rick, all of Okla.; three sisters,
LaVonna, Mary Lee and Vicki, all of Okla.; several nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
HAMMOND
Elsie PERKINS HAMMOND, resident of Joplin, Mo., was born May 20, 1912, in
Wapanucka, Okla., the fifth child of Thomas Jefferson PERKINS and Susie Ann
BLANKENSHIP PERKINS and departed this life to be with her Lord, November
25, 1998, in Joplin, Mo., at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 4 days.
Elsie was married to Graves HAMMOND, Decmeber 24, 1927, and to this union
were born five children: Mary Lou, Betty Jean, Joyce Marie, Mike and Linda.
She was a quiet woman who loved her family. She became a Christian at a very
young age and was a member of the Christie Southern Baptist Church where
she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years.
She is preceded in death by both parents, husband Graves, one daughter, Mary
Lou, two grandchildren, Cherry Marie FATHERREE and Scott FATHERREE, five
sisters, Dora, Lula, Mary, Lillian and Jewel and three brothers, Leet, Lester
and Ben.
She is survived by one son, Mike of Mo.; three daughters, Betty Jean, Joyce
Marie and Linda, all of Okla.; two sisters, Nellie of Okla., and Ruby of
Calif.; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held, Saturday, November 28, 1998 at 10 a.m. in the
Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Westville with interment following at the
Westville City Cemetery.
SHEFFIELD
Funeral services for Mitchell D. SHEFFIELD, of Westville, were held Wednesday,
November 25, at the Westville School Auditorium with Rev. David WARD officiating.
State Rep. Larry E. ADAIR was also a speaker.
Mitchell D. SHEFFIELD was born and raised in the Westville Community of Adair
and continued to make the area his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Willie Mae SHEFFIELD;
his wife Jane and one brother, William Elbert SHEFFIELD, Jr.
He is survived by one son, Michael; two grandsons, Patrick and Eric; one
granddaughter, Amber; one great granddaughter, Morgan; one older sister,
Elizabeth, all of Okla.; two nephews, Jim of Conn. and Dale of Okla.; other
relatives, loved ones and a host of friends.
Interment was in the Westville City Cemetery. Contributions in his honor
may be made to the American Cancer Society.
