May 7, 1998
GLASS
Andrew Jackson GLASS, son of Henry Sutt GLASS and Esther PETTIT GLASS, was
born Oct. 1, 1929 in Bunch, Okla., and departed this life into eternity on
April 28, 1998 at Sequoyah Memorial Hospital in Sallisaw, Okla., at the age
of 68 years, 6 months and 26 days.
He was preceded in death by both parents; two sisters, Lisa HALLMARK and
Lucy JOHNSON; and two brothers, Isaac GLASS and Rainwater GLASS.
He is survived by: one brother, Henry of Okla.; two sisters, Edith and Elsie
of Okla., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many
friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 30, at the Roberts/Reed-Culver
Funeral Home Chapel in Stilwell with Rev. Ted Qualls and Rev. Larry Pritchett
officiating. Interment followed at the Flute Springs Cemetery near Marble
City.
PATRICK
Services for Sarah Beatrice HAMLIN PATRICK, 91, were held Monday, May 4,
at Hart Memorial Chapel with Rev. Noble Casey officiating. Interment was
in the Bunch Cemetery. Sarah was born Aug. 13, 1906 in Middlesboro, Ky.,
to George Washington HAMLIN and Sarah POWERS HAMLIN. She died Thursday, April
30, at her home in Stilwell.
She was a retired storekeeper, cattlewoman and homemaker. She was married
to Orville PATRICK on April 29, 1928 in Molloy Hollow. He preceded her in
death on Dec. 12, 1990. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; five
brothers, David, Oscar, James Blaine, Lawrence Rab and Charley HAMLIN; and
four sisters, Cordia DELOZIER, Linda BRUNER, Ethel HAMLIN and Lillian CUNNINGHAM.
She was a member of the Bunch Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School
for many years.
Sarah is survived by: two daughters, Patricia and Elena, both of Kansas;
one son, Don of Okla; five granddaughters and five great-grandchildren; several
nieces, nephews and other relatives.

SMITH
Graveside services for William "Bill" Thomas SMITH, 60, of Cincinnati, Ark.,
were held Wednesday, May 6, at Old Union Cemetery in Cincinnati, with Rev.
Paul Young officiating. Interment was under the direction of Hart Funeral
Home of Westville.
Bill was born April 2, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ark., to Joe Harrell SMITH and
Katherine Ruth MAY SMITH. He died Monday, May 4, 1998 at his home in Cincinnati.
He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents,
one aunt, Ellen, and two sisters, Nellie MANKINS and Betty Jo.
He is survived by: three brothers, Delmer and Roy, and Pat; three sisters,
Margaret, Shirley and Mary Sue
MAHAN
Private family services were held Monday, May 11, at Stilwell City Cemetery
for Lois Elizabeth CUNNINGHAM MAHAN, 89, of Stilwell. Arrangements were under
the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
She was born June 21, 1908 in Ontario, Calif., to John CUNNINGHAM and Christina
I. WEIBERG CUNNINGHAM. She died Wednesday, May 6, at St. Edward's Mercy Medical
Center in Ft. Smith, Ark. She was a music teacher and concert pianist and
was an Episcopalian. She was married to Frank W. MAHAN on Oct. 11, 1937 in
Las Vegas, Nev. He preceded her in death in 1958. She was also preceded in
death by her parents.
She is survived by: one daughter, Mary; four grandsons; two granddaughters;
nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
SIMERLY
Jackie Duane SIMERLY, son of Lee SIMERLY and Esther SHIELDS SIMERLY, was
born Aug. 28, 1933 in Maryville, Tenn., and passed from this life on May
6, 1998 at his home in Westville, Okla., at the age of 64 years, 8 months
and 6 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Esther SIMERLY,
and one son, William Lee SIMERLY.
He is survived by: his wife, Jaynie ; two daughters, Susie and Mary Margaret;
two sons Lee and Dale ; one brother Jim ; five grandchildren;
Graveside services were held Monday, May 11, at the Simerly Family Cemetery
located at the family home in Westville, Okla., under the direction of Roberts
Funeral Home of Westville.
STUNKARD
Lawrence C. STUNKARD, son of Charles STUNKARD and Mary GIBBENS STUNKARD,
was born March 1, 1914 in Tulsa, Okla., and departed this life to be with
his Lord on May 6, 1998 at Memorial Hospital in Stilwell, Okla., at the age
of 84 years, 2 months and 5 days.
Lawrence was married to Eva TAPP on May 26, 1935 and from this union were
born five children -- Beverly, Linda Sue, Randall, Larry and Noretta. The
family moved from Tulsa in 1961. He was a 50 year Master Mason and a member
of the Whitmire Community Church. He was preceded in death by: his parents;
wife Eva; one sister, Dorothy STUNKARD; one brother, Harold STUNKARD; two
children, Larry and Noretta STUNKARD; and two grandsons, Rodney FRENCH and
William Allen STUNKARD.
He is survived by: two daughters, Beverly Jean and Linda Sue; one son, Randal
Craig; one brother, LeeRoy; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
and three great-great-granchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 8, in the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro. Darrell Lacie and Bro. Audie Vaughn officiating. Interment
followed at the Stilwell City Cemetery.
MILLER
Funeral services for Marguerite Kate MILLER, 75 of Stilwell, were held Thursday,
May 7, at Floral Haven Chapel in Broken Arrow with Rev. James Hudspeth
officiating. Interment was in the Floral Haven Cemetery under the direction
of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell. Marguerite was born March 26, 1923 in
Claremore, Okla., to Daniel Earl SMITH and Ollie Kate OUTLAW SMITH. She died
Monday, May 4, 1998, at her home in Stilwell. She was married to Charles
H. MILLER on Aug. 15, 1941 in Tulsa. She was of the Baptist faith. She was
preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
She is survived by: her husband, Charles of the home; three sons, Charles,
Larry and Jimmy; one daughter, Judy; three sisters, Imogene, Earlene and
Bobbie; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren;
EDEN
William Lee EDEN, son of Virgil William EDEN and Dora Irene MATTERSON EDEN,
was born Oct. 19, 1932 in Jefferson County, Colo., and departed this life
into eternity on May 10, 1998 at Memorial Hospital in Stilwell, Okla., at
the age of 65 years, 6 months and 21 days. He later met Julia WYATT and her
children and the families were joined together on Oct. 10, 1978 in Wichita,
Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Floyd.
He is survived by: wife Julia; three sons, Rick and James and Theadore; four
daughters, Mary Beth, Dianna, Lydia and Shelly; one brother, Clarence; one
sister, Velda; 20 grandchildren;
Graveside services were to be held Wednesday, May 13, at 2 p.m. at the Westville
City Cemetery with Bro. Audie Vaughn officiating. Arrangements are under
the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Westville.
ADDINGTON
Opal May ADDINGTON, daughter of Arthur SANGER and Annie WOODS, was born Nov.
15, 1915 in Stilwell, Okla., and departed this life to be with her Lord on
May 6, 1998 in Borger, Texas, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 21 days.
Opal married J.M. "Jenks" ADDINGTON on Dec. 7, 1933 in Stilwell, Okla., and
from this union were born four children: Joe, Don, Ina and Jackie. She was
preceded in death by: her parents; her husband J.M. on June 26, 1969; one
sister, Mary MILLER; and two brothers, Hugh and Lee SAGER.
She is survived by: two sons, Joe and Don; two daughters, Ina and Jackie
Sue; two sisters, Dorothy and Vera ; nine grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 9, in the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral
Home Chapel in Stilwell with Bro. Lester Wilhite of Westville officiating.
Interment followed in the Downing Cemetery in Baron.

NOLAN
Atha Christine NOLAN, daughter of Harve MALOY and Jessie FOSTER MALOY, was
born April 23, 1931 in Bunch, Okla., and departed this life into eternity
on May 11, 1998 at her home in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 67 years
and 18 days. Christine was married to Dean NOLAN on Oct. 14, 1949. She was
preceded in death by both parents, one brother, Herbert MALOY, and one sister,
Grace ROASTINGEAR.
She is survived by: husband Dean of the home; three sisters, Gladys and Dora
and Ruth.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 18, in the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral
Home Chapel in Stilwell with Bro. Allen Nolan of Tahlequah officiating. Interment
followed at Bunch Cemetery.
CHUCULATE
Daisy Mae CHUCULATE was born in Adair County, May 26, 1923 to George JOHNSON
and Mary ROGERS JOHNSON, and departed this life on May 10, 1998 in Ft. Smith,
Ark., at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her parents, George
and Mary JOHNSON, a brother, Earl JOHNSON, and a son-in-law, George LOCUST.
She is survived by: her husband, Watt; five daughters, Ruby, Carolyn, Lucy,
Nellie and Lummy; one son Watie; four stepchildren, Jerry, Robert, John and
Ada; two sisters, Annie and Lorene; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren;
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 13, at the Marble City Gym at Marble
City School with Rev. Clifton Pettit and Rev. Tom Hawkins officiating. Interment
followed in Flute Springs Cemetery north of Marble City.
Pallbearers were John Bolin, Larry Couch, Amos Morgan, Stan and Johnny Philpot
and Mack Brewer.
MAURER
Funeral services for Esther Edith MAURER, 72, were held Tuesday, May 19,
in Hart Funeral Chapel with Rev. Claude McGee officiating. Interment was
held Wednesday, May 20, in Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak, Iowa. Mrs. MAURER
was born Aug. 24, 1925 in Lutherville, Ark., the daughter of the late Henry
G. and Meta FRICKE LENHARDT, and departed this life Saturday, May 16, 1998
in Siloam Springs, Ark. She was married to Robert G. MAURER, March 4, 1944
in Lamar, Ark. Mr. MAURER preceded her in death, as did her parents, three
sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by: three daughters, Kathryn , Bobbye , and Lynn ; three
brothers Henry, Clarence and Herman; five sisters, Lillian , Norma, Melba,
Ruth , and Carole ; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren,
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Robert Hall, Raymond Hall, Lonnie King,
Brent Graham, Brad Graham, Bret Rector and Bill Schultz.
WILLIAMS
Haskell J. WILLIAMS, son of Andrew WILLIAMS and Lula WORLEY WILLIAMS, was
born Oct. 19, 1915 in Arkadelphia, Ark., and departed this life to be with
his Lord on May 10, 1998 at his home in Stilwell at the age of 82 years,
6 months and 20 days. Haskell married Irene MCCULLY on July 29, 1939 in
Fayetteville, Ark. He was a member of the Hungry Mountain Church in Stilwell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
He is survived by: his wife, Irene; four sons, Haskell, Harold and Harley
and Harvey ; three daughters, Juna and Rena, and Glenda ; 21 grandchildren;
22 great-grandchildren;
Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, May 12, at the Stilwell City
Cemetery with Bro. Bill Roundtree and Bro. Thomas Still officiating. Funeral
arrangements were under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home
of Stilwell.
REESE
Funeral services for Mary Gladys REESE, 91, were held Saturday, May 16, in
Hart Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Stoops officiating. Interment followed
in Westville City Cemetery.
Mrs. REESE was born Dec. 14, 1906 in Dutch Mills, Ark., the daughter of the
late Ulysses Grant HARGROVE, Sr. and Florence Amanda SNODGRASS HARGROVE,
and departed this life Tuesday, May 12, 1998 in Tahlequah, Okla. A 30-year
resident of the Westville area, Mrs. REESE was a homemaker, married to James
Cyrus REESE, who preceded her in death. A grandson, Danny Lee REESE, four
sisters and four brothers also preceded her.
She is survived by: two sons, Vernon and James; a sister Mabel; two grandson;
six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren;
Serving as pallbearers were John Haeberle, Joe Wilhite, Buddy Hammer, David
Brown, Vol David Woods and Dan Hembree.
LEE
Sylvia LEE, 74, of Fayetteville, Ark., died May 10, 1998 at Washington Regional
Hospital at Fayetteville. She was born Dec. 15, 1923 at Blue Eye, Mo., the
daughter of Ralph and Minnie CARLTON PROCTOR. She was a homemaker and was
preceded in death by two husbands, Chester STEWART and Gordon LEE, and one
sister, Mrs. Lena SISK.
Survivors include; one son, Everette; two daughters, Ethel and Phyllis ;
three brothers, Junior, Earl and Rufus; three sisters, Ruby and Meta and
Louella ; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 13, at the Swain Church with Bobby
Young officiating. Interment was in the Swain Cemetery under the direction
of Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville, Ark.
Pallbearers were Ray Proctor, Gary Proctor, Donald Kirk, Mike Kirk, Melton
Lee, Newman and Eric Proctor. Honorary pallbearer was Billy Lee.
PIPPIN
Willis Logan PIPPIN, son of Wilson Lee PIPPIN and Toona Alice CARTER PIPPIN,
was born Jan. 3, 1942 in Keys, Okla., and departed this life on May 14, 1998
at his home at the age of 56 years, 4 months and 9 days. Willis married Joanne
MARSHALL on July 19, 1962 in Stilwell, Okla., and from this union were born
two daughters --Christinia and Dusty. He was preceded in death by both
parents.
He is survived by: wife Joanne; two daughters, Christinia and Dusty; two
brothers, Wilson and Ralph; one sister, Frances.
Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, May 16, at the Tahlequah City
Cemetery with Rev. Frank Houston officiating. Arrangements were under the
direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Stilwell.

SANDERS
Sherman Leroy SANDERS, son of William SANDERS and Ada KNIGHT SANDERS, was
born Aug. 23, 1925 in Christie, Okla., and departed this life into eternity
on May 20, 1998 at Memorial Hospital in Stilwell, Okla., at the age of 72
years, 8 months and 27 days.
Sherman was married to Betty CARTER on Feb. 23, 1946, and from this union
was born one child, Jim. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ada, and
son, Jim.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; his father, Bill; two grandsons, Michael
and Mark; one brother, W.R.; one sister, Alline; two great-granddaughters,
Ashley and Brittany, all of Okla.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 23, in the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral
Home Chapel. Interment followed in the Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction
of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Stilwell.

GIRDNER
Dora "Dode" GIRDNER, daughter of Harve MALOY and Jessie FOSTER MALOY, was
born Dec. 22, 1919 in Bunch, Okla., and departed this life into eternity
on May 18, 1998 at her home in Stilwell at the age of 78 years, 4 months
and 25 days after a lengthy illness.
Dora was married to Barney GIRDNER, and from this union five children were
born: Barney Jr., Ruth Ann, Joy Brian, Iva and Jessie. She and Barney owned
and operated a country store in Bunch for more than 37 years. She was preceded
in death by: both parents; her husband Barney in 1976; one brother, Herbert
MALOY; and two sisters, Grace ROASTINGEAR and Christine NOLAN.
She is survived by: one son, Barney Jr.; four daughters, Ruth Ann, Joy, and
Iva of Okla. and Jessie of Ark.; two sisters Ruth of Okla. and Gladys of
N.M.; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews,
other relatives and many friends.
FOSTER
Eva Lillie FOSTER, daughter of William M. ISAACS and Ruthie Jane CREEKMORE
ISAACS, was born Dec. 23, 1902 in Crawford County, Ark. and departed this
life to be with her Lord at Memorial Hospital in Stilwell, Okla., at the
age of 95 years, 4 months and 27 days.
Eva was married to John James FOSTER on Nov. 4, 1927, and from this union
three children were born; Vernie, William and Golda. She was preceded in
death by both parents, Rev. William "Bill" ISAACS and Mrs. Ruthie Jane CREEKMORE
ISAACS; five brothers, Matthew, Alva, Jessie, Leonard and Everett; three
sisters, Betty, Alta and LaVaughn; and by her husband, John James FOSTER.
She is survived by: two daughters, Vernie and Golda both of Okla.; one son,
William of Okla; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 23, at the Central Baptist Church
in Stilwell with Bro. Larry Swafford officiating. Interment followed at the
Chalk Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home
of Stilwell.
GLASS
Gregg GLASS, 45 Tahlequah, was born in Tahlequah, Okla., on June 4, 1952
and died in Keys, Okla., on May 20, 1998. He was the son of the late William
GLASS and Jean GLASS of Rose, Okla. Being the son of a Bureau of Indian Affairs
educator, Gregg grew up in the southwest in various towns on the Navajo
Reservation. Gregg was of the Baptist faith and an active member of the Baptist
Church. Gregg was preceded in death by his father, William GLASS Sr.
He is survived by: his wife Imogene; two daughters, Feather and Annette;
two stepsons, Jason and Joshua; a brother Bill; and a sister Geri, all of
Okla.
Funeral services for Gregg were held Tuesday, May 26, in the Green Country
Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was Bro. Frank Houston and Utah Humphrey.
Pallbearers were Richard HANSON, Arland HANSON, Ronnie CROW, Charley
BOUYEAR
Hester BOUYEAR, daughter of Albert CLARDY and Stella PEAL CLARDY, was born
July 1, 1912 in Rogers, Ark., and departed this life into eternity on May
20, 1998 at St. Luke's Northland Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. at the age
of 85 years, 10 months and 18 days.
Hester made her home in Kansas City, originally from Oklahoma. She was preceded
in death by: her parents; her husband of 52 years, Gordon BOUYEAR; and two
daughters LaFaye BOUYEAR and Clarsia HOLTCAMP.
She is survived by: her children Ica, Ruth, Sybil, Sharon and Dale; 15
grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren;
her sisters Hazel of Mo., Opal of Ore., Lucy of Wash., and Francis of Calif;
two brothers, Chester (her twin) of Okla. and Bill of Calif.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday, May 22, at the Old Baptist Mission
Cemetery in Westville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Westville.
ALLCORN
Pauline ALLCORN was born June 19, 1910 in Haskell, Texas, to Joseph and Nettie
NIKIRK LEE, and passed from this life May 22, 1998.
Pauline ws married to Manford ALLCORN in 1926 at the First Methodist Church
in Haskell, Texas. Manford preceded her in death in 1987. Pauline was a 55-year
resident of Westville and was a member of the Christie Baptist Church. Also
preceding her in death were: one daughter, Patsy BURKE; one grandson, Larry
BURKE; two brothers, Oscar and Elvin LEE; and two sisters, Leona LEE and
Thelma BOWERS.
She is survived by: two daughters, Nettie Ruth and Billie both of Texas;
one son, George of Okla.; one sister, Pearl of Okla.; 10 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild
KESTER
Rev. John D. KESTER, 61, of Greenwood, Ark., departed this life on May 20,
1998 at St. Edwards Hospital in Ft. Smith, Ark. He was the senior pastor
of Living Stone Fellowship Church in Greenwood.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday at McConnell Funeral Home in
Greenwood, with interment at Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood. Rev. KESTER had
also served as pastor for Nicut Community Church in Nicut, Okla., Brooklyn
Freewill Baptist in Ratcliff, Ark., and Palestine Community Church in Greenwood,
Ark.
Bro. John was born on Feb. 3, 1937 to Ray and Mamie SNODGRASS KESTER. He
is survived by his wife Barbara of the home; two daughters, Sherry of Okla.
and Christine of Ark; two sons, Ken and Ron both of Ark.; 12 grandchildren,
Johnny Jr., Tammy, Eric, Dustin, Brenda, Trisha, Sheena and Brooke of Ark.,
and Candice, David, Travis and Felicia of Okla.; one great-grandson, Kristopher
of Ark.; three sisters, Faye, Myrtle and Mildred all of Okla; two brothers
Carl and Don of Ark.
Pallbearers were Johnny SELLERS, Jr., David HOPKINS, Dustin KESTER, Don SKINNER,
Donnie SHADDON, and Jack TODD.
KOCHER
Funeral services for Shirley Ann KOCHER, 57 Anadarko, were held Friday, May
22, 1998 at Reed-Culber Chapel in Tahlequah with Rev. Jacob Camp officiating.
Pallbearers were Earl CHALEPOH, Frances HAAG, Joseph BENDER, Gil HOOPER Jr.,
Michael Shane HOOPER and Roger BARR. Honorary pallbearers were Mark BELVIN,
Brian WASHINGTON and Eddie ROBLES. Interment followed in the Greenleaf
Cemetery.
Mrs. KOCHER was born Aug. 25, 1940 in Tahlequah, Okla., the daughter of George
Sr. and Nancy BREEDEN HOOPER, and she died May 19 in Oklahoma City. Shirley
grew up in the Tahlequah area. Shirley met and married Leonard KOCHER, and
to this union five kids were born. Shirley later married Jimmy DORSEY and
to this union one child was born. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. KOCHER
was preceded in death by: her mother, Nancy WASHINGTON; her father, George
HOOPER, Sr.; and two sisters Joanne MCKENZIE and Georgia BENDER.
Survivors include: one daughter, Karen of Okla.; six sons, David, Melvin,
Glen, Kenny, Leonard Jr., and Jimmy, all of Okla.; five sisters, Wanda and
Mary of Okla., Veronica of Colo., Sharon of Neb., and Barbara of Kansas;
three brothers, George, Gill and Allen all of Okla.; and many grandchildren,
other relatives, as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
