boy, with Dr. BURNEY in attendance.
Married-At Alva July 11 by Rev. CORNET, W.O. LEWALLEN and Eva
ELLIOTT, they have the best wishes of the community.
August 3, 1894
Mr. Nelson MCCARTY, brother of Mrs. Frank HATCH, who has been visiting in Alva for sometime left for Canada. Married Last Thursday evening, July 26, 1894, Mr. J.S. YOUNG of Denver, Colorado and Miss Kate BEEGLE. The ceremony took place at the family residence by Rev. M.T. LONG of the M.E Church. The groom is an educator of prominence in his state, being at present Assistant State Superintendent of Colorado and a young man of great promise. The couple left for their new home in Denver.

Died August 22 at him home in Alva twonship, Elisha GORDON in the 86 year of his life. Mr. GORDON was a man of high standing. He came here from Nebraska and was perhaps the oldest citizen in this county.

DAY / COWAN
The fifth annual reunion of the DAY and COWAN families was held in Alva [OK]
recently. Groups of friends from several states gathered here and spent several
days visiting in the homes of the Alva relatives, closing with a final rally
in Hatfield Park, where a farewell picnic and general good time was enjoyed
by all.
Those in attendance were: MRS. ELLEN DAY HODGSON and daughter, Kansas City,
Mo.; MRS. MAMIE DAY CRAIG and sons, Pueblo, Colo.; MR. and MRS. HARRY WEIDENBACH
and children, Wichita, Kans.; MRS. ROSE DAY THORNBERRY and children, Byron;
MR. and MRS. ROY DAY and sons, Alva; MR. and MRS. J. L. DAY, Nash; MR. and
MRS. FRED DAY and sons; MR. and MRS. CHARLES DAY and children, and MR. and
MRS. JESSE DAY, all of Nash; MR. and MRS. JOHN COWAN and children, Selman;
WILEY COWAN, MRS. OPAL NIGHSWONGER and children, MR. and MRS. FRED WIEBENER
and children, and MRS. SUSIE DAY McELRATH, all of Alva. Friends of the family
present were: MR. and MRS. JOE LAYMAN, OWEN LAYMAN and MRS. MAUD AMES, all
of Alva.

Kansas; Floyd MCMILLEN, Wellington, Kansas; and Harry MCMILLEN,
Alva; and three daughters, Mrgry Merle IVY, Wichita, Kansas; Francis
Lois WIERSIG, Alva, and Faye APPLEBY, Alva.

Funeral services for Hilbert S. BUCKLES, 82, Kiowa, KS. He will be buried
in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Hazelton, Ks. Hilbert was born 22 April 1917
at Hazelton, KS. He died Nov 22, 1999 near Nescatunga, OK.. He married Mildred
Opal Jenkins at Wichita, KS Survivors include his wife Mildred, dau, Marcie
Jo; son, Dwayne; brother, Hubert BUCKLES; six grandchildren;two grand daughters,
14 great-grandchildren. he was preceded in death by one son, Gary Dean
KRUCKENBERG.

Funeral Services for Irene DUNN, 86, died Nov 22, 1999. She is survived by
two sons, Bob and Mark.

FREY
Hazel FREY died Nov 22, 1999 in Jet, OK. Hazel was born June 26, 1900 in
Jet, OK. She was the daughter of Charles and Mary Dunavant. Raymond FREY
and Hazel Dunavant were married August 15, 1935 at Cherokee, OK. To this
union, two children were born, Cheryl and Bob. She was preceded in death
by her husband, her son, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors: one daughter, Cheryl LUCAS; three grand children; three
great-grandchildren; one sister, Gracie CURRY.
