FUSON
Myrtle FUSON, daughter of Fred Garland CHAFFIN and Orpha Ann BREEDEN CHAFFIN,
was born March 14, 1921 in Jones, Okla., and departed from this life to be
with her Lord on March 27, 1998 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.,
at the age of 77 years and 12 days.
Myrtle was married to Homer FUSON March 6, 1937 and from this union were
born seven children: Raymon, Ivan, Vernon, Larry, Marvin, Norman and Debra.
Myrtle lived her entire life in the Adair County area. She was a faithful
member of the Rocky Mountain Community Church. She loved the duties that
followed her role as wife, mother, and grandma.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers, Clyde and Garland
CHAFFIN; one sister, Mabel CASTEEL; and one infant sister. She is survived
by: her husband Homer of the home; six sons, Raymon, Vernon, Larry, Norman,
Ivan and Marvin, all of Okla.; one daughter, Debra of Okla.; one brother,
Johnny of Ark.; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 30, at the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral
Home Chapel in Stilwell with Bro. Bill Roundtree officiating. Interment followed
at the Bunch Cemetery.
SHADDOX
Funeral services for Peggy SHADDOX, 67, of Tahlequah, were held Saturday,
March 28, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.E. Cook and Rev. John
Brill officiating. Interment followed in Stilwell City Cemetery under the
direction of Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Serving as pallbearers were
Tom Bullock, Luke Kelley, Bill Shores, Bob Rogers, George Fellers and Chuck
Berry. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Southside Baptist Church.
Peggy Pauline BREWER SHADDOX, daughter of W.W. "Hap" and Margie HARPER BREWER,
was born Nov. 29, 1930 in Westville, Okla., and died Wednesday, March 25,
1998 at home in Tahlequah, Okla. Peggy grew up and attended school in Stilwell,
Okla. She married Kenneth SHADDOX, January of 1949, in Eureka Springs, Ark.
A homemaker, Peggy worked for several years at N.S.U Bookstore and was an
active member of Southside Baptist Church of Tahlequah. Her parents and sister
preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of the home; one daughter, Margie
of Alaska; one son Troy of Wash.; one brother, Jack of Texas; two grandchildren,
Grace and Samuel, both of Wash.; and many, many friends and loved ones.
BROWN
Viola WOFFORD BROWN, daughter of Levi WOFFORD and Martha HAWK, was born July
7, 1932 in Stilwell, Okla., and departed this life to be with her Lord on
March 26, 1998 at Memorial Hospital in Stilwell at the age of 65 years, 8
months and 18 days.
Viola was married to E.R. "Bill" Brown on Oct. 18, 1953 and from this union
were born five children: Janice, Jerry, Vivian, Mike and Ginger.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charley WOFFORD.
She is survived by: her husband; two sons, Jerry and Mike, both of Okla.;
three daughters, Janice, Vivian and Ginger, all of Okla.; two sisters, Josephine
and Flowell, both of Okla.; five brothers, Ralph, Jack, Levi, Thomas and
Clayton, all of Okla.; nine grandchildren, Danya, Taryn, Justin, Gerri, Jennifer,
Joseph, Kyle, Amanda and Finessa; two great-grandchildren, Jasmon and Kane;
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 29, at the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral
Home Chapel in Stilwell with D.J. McCarter and Norman West officiating. Interment
followed at the Feathers Cemetery.
JOHNSON
Charlie Lee JOHNSON, Jr., son of Charlie JOHNSON and Geneva "Genny"
STILL-JOHNSON, was born July 10, 1944 in Stilwell, Okla., and departed from
this life into eternity March 29, 1998 at St. Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith,
Ark., after a lengthy illness at the age of 53 years, 8 months and 18 days.
He was preceded in death by both parents, one sister and one son, Charles.
Charlie is survived by: one daughter, Tina, of Okla.; eight brothers, Henry,
Sam, Kenny, Leonard, J.D and Denver, all of Okla., and Richard and Joseph,
both of Ill.; two sisters, Mary Jane and Violet, both of Okla. Mr. JOHNSON
is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many
friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at the Cherry
Tree Baptist Church with Brother Thomas Still officiating. A wake for Mr.
JOHNSON will be held at the home on Wednesday evening. Burial will follow
the service at Doublehead Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver
Funeral Home of Stilwell.
SANDERS
Funeral services for Edgarita Rae SANDERS, 53, of Tulsa, were held Thursday,
March 26, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kendall Nakedhead officiating.
Burial was in the Reese Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home
of Stilwell.
Mrs. SANDERS was born on May 26, 1944 in Tahlequah to James SANDERS and Lydia
Ruth SNELL SANDERS. She died Monday, March 23, at St. Francis Hospital in
Tulsa. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was married
to Jack TIDWELL on Sept. 17, 1958 in Adair County.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; a sister, Pauline
MYERS; and a brother, Jimmie SANDERS.
Edgarita is survived by: Jack Tidwell of Okla.; Ralph of Okla; four daughters,
JoAnn, Kay, Jeannie and Jennifer, all of Okla.; one stepdaughter, Loretta
of Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson; one sister, Sandra of
Okla; and several nieces and nephews.
SWEPSTON
Mary Fern COOMBES SWEPSTON, daughter of Charles COOMBES and Ida E. DYER COOMBES,
was born May 18, 1919 in Stilwell, Okla., and departed this life to be with
her Lord on March 30, 1998 at Memorial Hospital in Stilwell, Okla., at the
age of 78 years, 10 months and 11 days.
Mary was married to Glenn SWEPSTON and from this union were born seven children:
Oscar, Sherman, Betty, Shirley, Patricia, Sally and Albert. Mary was the
last charter member of the Baron Baptist Church, where she was a faithful
member for many years. She was a homemaker and a foster mother to over 30
children during her lifetime.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; husband Glenn; one daughter, Sally;
and one infant son, Albert Glenn SWEPSTON. Mary is also preceded in death
by five sisters, Minnie ROBINSON, Iva HUMMINGBIRD, Nola ROBINSON, Ruth COOMBES
and Alta ANDERSON; three brothers, Ellis COOMBES, Tom COOMBES and Pete
COOMBES.
Mrs. SWEPSTON is survived by: two sons, Oscar "Butch" and Sherman, both of
Okla.; three daughters, Betty, Shirley and Patricia, all of Okla.; two brothers,
John and Sherman, both of Okla; 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 1, at 2 p.m. in the
Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at the Terrell
Cemetery.

FEATHER
Graveside services for Caroline Joyce FEATHER, 55, of Stilwell, were held
Monday, April 6, at Feathers Cemetery in Stilwell with Rev. Johnson Vann
officiating. Interment was under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of
Stilwell.
She was born on Sept. 13, 1942 in Minot, N.D., to Charles C. BELL and Marilyn
B. HALLA BELL. She died Thursday, April 2, at Sparks Hospital in Ft. Smith,
Ark. She was married to Woodrow FEATHER on Jan. 12, 1974 in Stilwell. She
was a cosmetologist and was a Jehovah's Witness. She was preceded in death
by her parents.
She is survived by: her husband, Woodrow of the home; two sons, Edward of
Calif. and Tontee of Okla.; two daughters, Deborah of Calif., and Yvette
of Okla.; 12 granddaughters and 6 grandsons; one sister, Linda of Ala.; a
niece Diane of Calif.; and one nephew, Russell of Ark.; and other members
of the FEATHER family of Stilwell and surrounding area.
COX
Funeral services for Juanita Faye JARVIS COX, 70, of Stilwell, were held
Friday, April 3, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Rev. Berneil Rogers officiating.
Interment was in the Tahlequah City Cemetery.
Juanita was born Nov. 24, 1927 in Tahlequah to Lee JARVIS and Ethel MOLLOY
JARVIS. She died Tuesday, March 31, 1998 at her home in Stilwell. She was
married to Floyd John COX, Jr. on May 22, 1944 in Cherokee County, Okla.
She was an employee of Parrott's Jewelry Store for 17 years and was also
a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren,
John Wayne and Linda Rene.
She is survived by; her husband, Floyd of the home; one daughter, Linda Jo
of Okla.; two sons Floyd Lee and Marty Ray both of Okla; one brother, Jim
of Okla.; nine grandchildren, Robbie, Mandy, Karen, Katrina, Jessica,
Christopher, Chad, Matt and Toby.
REED
Funeral services for Marcia Dee WALKER REED, 78, of Stilwell, were held Friday,
April 3, at First Christian Church with Bro. Jack Steele and Bro. Larry Farthing
officiating. Interment was in the Cox Cemetery in Morrow, Ark., under the
direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
She was born Sept. 21, 1919 in Canehill, Ark., to Virgil Lee WALKER and Dessa
FERGUSTON WALKER. She died Tuesday, March 31, at Memorial Hospital in Stilwell.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church. She was married
to Kay REED on May 26, 1940 in Canehill, Ark. She was preceded in death by:
her parents; one brother, Jack WALKER; four sisters, Reba DAVID, Buena Vee
WALKER, Zula PITTS and Julia WALKER.
She is survived by: her husband; one daughter, Kaylene of Texas; one son,
Gary of Mo.; six grandchildren, Tracy and Jason of Texas, Marcia, Jeff, Jeremy
and Heather, all of Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Hannah and Mary
Kaylene; and two sisters, Ina of Okla., and Una Dell of Ark.
HAMILTON
Funeral services for Sally HAMILTON were held Saturday, April 4, at Proctor
Community Church with Rev. Larry Kindle officiating. Interment followed in
Proctor Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Westville. Serving
as pallbearers were: Heath Hamilton, Lacy Lockwood, Sam Pharr, Juan Hamilton,
Danny Kindle and Luke Pharr.
Sally HAMILTON, daughter of Robert Claude HAMILTON and Anice WEAVER HAMILTON,
was born Oct. 21, 1915 in Proctor, Okla., and departed this life April 1,
1998 in Westville, Okla., at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 11 days. Sally
was married to Willard P. ROWE and raised his four children: three daughters,
Marjorie, Jeannette and Wilma, and a son Willard. Sally was later married
to Sam MCKINNEY. They made their home in Pawhuska, Okla., moving to Westville
after retirement. Sally gave her life to Jesus Christ one night, several
years ago, while in her home in Westville. Preceding her in death are: her
parents; three brothers, Clem, Cecil "Bill" and Clyde HAMILTON; two
stepdaughters, Marjorie BRADLEY and Wilma MORRIS and one stepson, Willard
"Bunny" ROWE.
Survivors include: one very special great-niece, Heather; one sister, Carrie
of Okla.; three sisters-in-law, Mae, Ruby and Maxine, all of Okla; one
stepdaughter, Jeanette of Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved
her dearly.
HAMILTON
Funeral services for William Lloyd HAMPTON, 79, of Watts, were held Monday,
March 30, at Chewey Church with Rev. Ronnie Baker and Rev. Harry Gibson
officiating. Interment followed in New Hope Cemetery under the direction
of Hart Funeral Home of Westville. Serving as pallbearers were: Gene Bird,
Wesley Bird, Don Crittenden, Jimmy White, Darryl Mullin and David Sands.
Honorary pallbearers were: Bill Fain, Billy Hilderbrand, Bud Cox, Harold
Cleveland and John Snail.
William Lloyd HAMPTON, son of Bill and Della KIRK HAMPTON, was born Dec.
5, 1918 in Chewey, Okla., and died March 27, 1998 at his home in Watts, Okla.
On Jan. 16, 1940 he and Marvie HOLLAND were married in Stilwell, Okla. Lloyd
was a farmer and rancher and a member of Chewey Church. His parent, three
brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include: his wife, Marvie of the home; two daughters, Joyce and
Gail, both of Okla.; two sons, Gary and David, both of Okla.; one brother,
Willard of Wash.; one sister, Eula of Okla.; five grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and loved ones.
WOLFE
Funeral services for John H. WOLFE, 91, of Proctor, were held April 2 at
the Proctor Community Church with Rev. Audie Vaughn and E.C. "Shorty" Doyle
officiating. Interment was in the Proctor Cemetery under the direction of
Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Pallbearers were Kevin Ryan, Tommy
Mullin, Bob Skaggs, Dub Craig, Darrell Cates and Haskell Kindle. Honorary
pallbearers were Steve Wolfe and Jim Trickett.
Mr. WOLFE was born September 16, 1906 in Proctor, Indian Territory, the son
of Thomas and Susie FOREMAN WOLFE, and he died March 30, 1998 in Tahlequah.
Mr. WOLFE attended Proctor schools and then Haskell Institute in Lawrence,
Kansas, John married Leeo RYAN on November 21, 1933 in Stilwell. He was a
rancher and carpenter and helped in the construction of many facilities at
N.S.U, including Gable Field. He also helped in the construction of the First
National Bank, Talahoma Lodge, and various other structures. He was a member
of the Carpenters Union, Local #1072. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. WOLFE
was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Leeo, of the home; one daughter Reba, of Okla.;
one son Mike, of Kansas; four grandchildren, Jimmy, of Okla., Terri Lynn
of Fla., Karen of N.H., and Steven of Kansas; one sister, Thelma of Okla.;
two nieces, Eldee and Noretta, both of Okla.; five great-grandchildren; and
many other relatives, as well as a host of friends and loved ones.

HOGSHOOTER
Daylin Wayne HOGSHOOTER, son of Darrel HOGSHOOTER and Donna CRISP, was born
November 12, 1977 in Tahlequah, Okla., and departed this life into eternity
on April 9, 1998 at Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs, Ark., after a lengthy
illness at the age of 20 years, 4 months and 27 days.
Daylin is a 1996 graduate of Watts High School. Mr. HOGSHOOTER is preceded
in death by his paternal grandparents, Jess and Gladys HOGSHOOTER, and maternal
grandfather, Lester CRISP.
He is survived by : his parents, Darrel and Donna of the home; one brother,
Marvin of Texas; four sisters, Sandra, Katherine and Sherry, of Okla., and
Dianna of Texas; maternal grandmother, Lavern of Okla.; 15 nieces and nephews,
and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other reltives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 13, at the Roberts Funeral Home
Chapel in Westville with Brother Claude McGee officiating. Interment was
at the Bell Cemetery in Watts.
BEARPAW
Funeral services for David "Dave" Wilson BEARPAW, 59 year old Weatherford,
Okla., resident, were held Thursday, April 9, 1998 at the Calvary Bible Baptist
Church in Weatherford with Mike Elder and Rev. Wilbur Cook officiating. Interment
followed in the Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford under the direction of
Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford.
Dave was born April 18, 1938 in Stilwell, Okla., to John and Genora SANDERS
BEARPAW, and died Monday, April 6, 1998 in Hinton, Okla. He was reared and
attended schools in Stilwell. On Dec. 23, 1992, Dave married Patricia HALL
in Ft. Smith, Ark. They made their home in Weatherford, Okla. Dave enjoyed
music and was a champion fiddle player. He attended Calvary Bible Baptist
Church. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
Dave is survived by: his wife, Patricia of the home; inlaws, Daisy and Leonard
of Okla.; one daughter, Jeanie of Okla.; four stepchildren, Misty, Tammy,
Monte and Marcus, all of Okla.; one brother, Joe of Mo.; and six grandchildren
Ashlyne, Pete, Crystal, Larissa, Amanda and Justin; and many, many aunts,
uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and
one sister Christine BEARPAW MYRICK.
CHRISTIE
Betty Lou CHRISTIE was born Jan. 15, 1926 in Flute Springs to John FLUTE,
Jr. and Molly MUSH CATRON, and departed this life on Thursday, April 9, 1998
in a Fort Smith hospital at the age of 72. She married Isaac CHRISTIE in
1946, and was a retired cook for Dwight Mission and Marble City Schools.
She was preceded in death by: one son, John CHRISTIE; one brother Homer FLUTE;
and one great-granddaughter, Madison Daystarr BALDRIDGE.
She is survived by: her husband Isaac of the home; three sons, Monroe and
Billy, both of the home, and Woodrow of Okla.; one daughter, Carolyn of Okla.;
one sister, Sarah of Okla.; three brothers, Charlie, Thomas and Johnny Mack,
all of Okla.; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, April 13, at the Marble City School Gymnasium,
with LeRoy Reed officiating. Interment followed at Flute Springs Cemetery
under the direction of Wheeler Funeral Home.
MCLEMORE
Fannie MCLEMORE, daughter of Lewis ADAIR and Nellie BLACKBIRD, was born July
20, 1914 in Stilwell, Okla., and departed from this life April 7, 1998 at
Memorial Hospital in Stilwell at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 17 days.
Fannie was married to Wilson MCLEMORE, and from this union was born one son,
Tommy. She was preceded in death by: both parents; her husband; two brothers,
Lewis and Levi ADAIR; and three sisters Betsy FARMER, Lucy SWIMMER and Susie
WHITE.
She is survived by; one son, Tommy of Okla.; one step daughter, Nancy of
Kansas; one brother Lincoln of Okla.; one sister Louise of Okla.; two
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives,
and many, many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 10, at the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral
Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Craig and Bro. John Blackwood officiating. Interment
followed at the Mulberry Tree Cemetery.
SIMPSON
Funeral services for Pearl HART SIMPSON, 95, of Westville, were held Tuesday,
April 14, in Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Munson officiating.
Interment followed in Westville City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were
Brian Mackey, Ryan Cooper, J.B. Hart, Kelly Cooper, Robert Hart, Ken Cooper,
Merle Jones and Sam Hart.
Pearl was born July 12, 1902 in Asher, Ark., the daughter of the late William
Grant and Sarah Ellen FERGUSON THOMAS, and died Saturday, April 11, 1998
in Inola, Okla. Pearl was married to Benjamin Robert HART on July 19, 1920
in Prairie Grove, Ark., and he preceded her in death in 1951. She was later
married to Alfred SIMPSON for 13 years before his death in 1969. A lifelong
resident of the Westville area, Pearl worked for the Roberts and Hart Funeral
Homes in Adair County for many years and was the first L.P.N at Westville
Nursing Home. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Westville.
Preceding her in death were: two sons, Loran HART and Harold Ray HART;
daughter-in-law Letha HART; three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: one son, LeRoy of Calif.; daughters-in-law Doris of Ore.
and Janice Sue of Fla.; three sisters, Opal, Hazel and Merle, all of Ark.;
ten grandchildren, Ann, Jim, Marquita Sue, Ron, Jerry, Brenda, Karen, Barbara,
Sam and Kathleen; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and other relatives.
STEALER
Samantha STEALER, daughter of Mack BIRD and Rachel SADDLEBLANKET, was born
Nov. 26, 1911 in Delaware County, Okla., and departed from this life on Monday,
April 6, 1998 at a Fort Smith hospital at the age of 86.
Samantha was a homemaker and lived in Bunch, Okla., and was president of
the Marble City School Board in 1953. She was preceded in death by her husband,
William Daws STEALER.
She is survived by: five daughters, Ruby, Wanda, Galelia, Irene and Allene,
all of Okla.; three sons, George and Mack of Okla., and Raymond of Wis.;
26 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, April 9, at the Marble City School Gymnasium,
with interment following at Flute Springs Cemetery. LeRoy Reid and Charlie
Shell officiated. Wheeler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers
included Johnny Mack Flute, Marlin Flute, Sonny Crawford, Ben Bush, Mark
Copeland and Steven Locust.

COLLINS
Charley Joe COLLINS was born March 11, 1931 in Oktaka, Okla., to William
Oadis COLLINS and Alta Agnes SCISM COLLINS. He died at his home on Saturday,
April 18, 1998.
He had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on Dec. 4, 1993 in he home in
Tulsa, Okla. He was an active member of Liberty Fellowship in Tulsa.
Funeral services for Charley Joe COLLINS were held Tuesday, April 21, at
Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel in Stilwell with Rev. Jack Richey, Rev.
Joe Edmonson, and Rev. Charles Richey officiating. Interment was in the Stilwell
City Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Lee COLLINS, who
was killed in action in the Korean Conflict in July 1950, George Junior COLLINS
and Dee Witt COLLINS.
He is survived by: his wife, Anna Bell of the home; son, William of Okla.;
daughter, Sherry of Okla.; four granddaughters, LuCretia Diane, Jennifer
Lynn, Tambra Lannette and Amanda Leigh, all of Okla.; and five step
grandchildren. He is also survived by his Mary Wanda of Okla.; three brothers,
Archie, Jimmie Leon and Donald Oadis, all of Okla.; and numerous nephews,
nieces aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends
STEPHENS
George Washington STEPHENS, son of Jasper Robert STEPHENS and Parlee COMPTON
STEPHENS, was born july 12, 1910 in Marshall, Ark., and departed this life
to be with his Lord on April 13, 1998 at the V.A. Center in Fayetteville,
Ark. at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 30 days.
George was married to Nomi TURNEY on Oct. 23, 1942 in Georgia, and from this
union were born three children; Gerald, Carol and Deloris. He was of the
Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife Nomi; three brothers and one
sister. He is survived by: one son, Gerald of Okla.; two daughters, Carol
and Deloris, both of Okla.; three grandsons, Harvey of Ark., and Philip and
David, both of Okla.; two granddaughters, Malisa and Penny, both of Okla;
four great-granddaughters, one great-grandson; and many other relatives and
a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 16, at the Roberts Funeral Home
Chapel in Westville with Bro. Ronnie Bradshaw officiating. Interment followed
at the Westville City Cemetery.
VAUGHN
Tommy Dale VAUGHN of Proctor, Okla., a Vietnam veteran, died early Friday
morning, April 17, 1996 at 12:55 a.m. in a traffic accident near his home.
Tommy Dale was 48 years of age at the time of his death.
He was born on March 22, 1950 in Stilwell, Okla., the son of Tommy and Henrietta
GRIGSBY VAUGHN. Tommy Dale was of the Christian faith. Preceding him in death
was his mother Henrietta; stepmother, Joyce; stepbrother John CLARK; maternal
grandparents Henry and Laura Bell KNIGHT GRIGSBY; and his paternal grandparents,
John and Edna BROCK VAUGHN.
He is survived by: his wife Ouita of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Allen of
Okla., and Jonathan of Wash.; one grandson, Tony of Okla.; two stepsons,
Justin and Bryan of Okla; three sisters, Margie Ann, Laura and June, all
of Okla.; one brother, Darrel of Okla; and one stepsister, Jo Ann of Miss.
He is also survived by: seven nephews, Phillip, Clayton, George, William,
Tim, Brad and Brian, all of Okla.; five nieces, Shawnda, Lacy Jo, Angie,
Amanda and Mandy, all of Okla.; many aunts, uncles, a host of cousins, other
family members and friend.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 20, at the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral
Home Chapel in Stilwell with Brother Audie Vaughn and Brother Darrell Lacie
officiating. Interment followed at the Stilwell City Cemetery.

DAVIS
Funeral services for Earl L. DAVIS, 78, of Stilwell, were held Friday, April
24, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Rev. W.O. Hatley officiating. Interment
was in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Earl was born on Aug. 30, 1919 in Limon, Colo.,
to Earnest DAVIS and Mary PURSOR DAVIS. He died Wednesday, April 22, at Memorial
Hospital in Stilwell.
He was a retired farmer and rancher and was a Protestant. He served in the
U.S. Army during World War 11. He was married to Amy Alene CENTER, who preceded
him in death in December 1964. He was married to Jewel Mae GLENN on May 12,
1970 in Tahlequah. She preceded him in death on July 16, 1994. He was also
preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Howard, Leonard and
Roy DAVIS, and one sister Luella DAVIS.
He is survived by: one son, Willard; one daughter, Barbara; three grandsons,
Jeff, Brent and Eli; one granddaughter, Shelly; one great-granddaughter Jill;
one brother Richard, all of Okla.; one sister Anges of Wash.; several nieces
and nephews, and other relatives.
MCCALEB
Elizabeth MCCALEB, 102, Joplin Mo., (formerly of Stilwell), died at 12:06
a.m. Monday, March 30, 1998 at St. John's Regional Medical Center after an
illness.
Mrs. MCCALEB was born March 22, 1896 at Mexico, Mo. She lived most of her
life in Joplin. She graduated from State Teachers College, Tahlequah, Okla.,
and had taught school in Stilwell. She had worked at Freeman Hospital in
Joplin. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Joplin.
Survivors include: one son, Kenneth of Ala.; one daughter Betty of Mo., one
grandchild and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at Mason-Woodard
Mortuary with the Rev. William Christman officiating. Interment was in Forest
Park Cemetery.
CAMPBELL
Funeral services for John R. CAMPBELL of Tahlequah were held Tuesday, April
28, 1998 at the Green Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah. Officiating was
Rev. Samson Leach of Cedar Grove Church. Pallbearers were Donald Ray Bolin,
Johnny Bolin, Ronnie Bolin, Eli Sequichie, Dave Holmes, and Richard Holmes.
Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Pritchett, David Bolin, John Stay-At-Home,
Leroy Grayson and Virgil Holmes. Interment followed at Barber Cemetery.
John R. was born in Tahlequah, Okla., on Feb. 4, 1941 and went to be with
the Lord on April 22, 1998 after reaching the age of 57 years, two months
and 18 days. John was preceded in death by his father, Andy CAMPBELL, and
his mother Lila Stay-At-Home BOLIN.
He is survived by: six brothers, Martin, Eddy, George, Dave, Bill and Willy;
two half-sisters, Anna Marie and Fanny May; a companion of 17 years, Helen
of Idaho; his daughter Rachel of Okla., and a son Darrell of Okla.
KELLY
Funeral services for Mary Gayle KELLY, 54, of Cookson, were held Friday,
April 24, 1998 at the Cookson Methodist Church with Rev. Don Richardson
officiating. Interment followed in the Cookson-Proctor Cemetery under the
direction of Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah. Pallbearers were Monty
Barrett, Tom Quinn, Jerrell Gray, Charles Perry, Bruce Singleton, and Merrell
Brumbaugh. Honorary pallbearers were Sen. Jim Inhofe, Dr. Guy Baldwin, Dr.
Henry Hartsell, Dr. Kenneth Wiggins, Col. William R. Pogue, and Charles Harris.
Mary KELLY was born Dec. 23, 1943 in Altus, Okla., the daughter of J.T. and
Oleth RUDD KELLY, and she died April 21, 1998 in Muskogee, Okla. Mary KELLY
graduated from high school in Dallas and from Baylor University. She taught
high school in Louisville, Ky., and in Virginia Beach, Va. Mary married Joe
CUNNINGHAM on July 4, 1988 in Gore, Okla. Ms. Kelly was preceded in death
by her father.
Survivors include her husband Joe of the home; one daughter, Briana of Ky.;
one brother, Joe of Okla.; one sister Betty of Ark.; her mother, Oletha of
Texas.
WINKLER
Randle WINKLER, son of Marion WINKLER and Velma TALUM, was born March 30,
1940 in Stilwell, Okl., and departed this life into eternity on April 23,
1998 at Memorial Hospital in Stilwell at the age of 58 years and 30 days.
He was preceded in death by both parents and his grandparents. He is survived
by: three brothers, Lonnie James, Larry Dale and Marion of Okla.; two sisters,
Elsie and Carline of Okla.; many nieces, nephews, othe relatives and many
friends.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday, April 27, at the Terrell Cemetery
in Stilwell under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
