Eliza Blythe Jones Trammell of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away September 27, 2008 at the age of 87. She was born January 26, 1920 in Texana, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Jackson Blythe and Mary Bird Headrick Blythe.
At a very young age, Eliza's mother and father both passed away in the Flu Epidemic. Her parents were both pure blood Cherokee making Eliza a pure blood 4/4's Cherokee. Her father's uncle and his wife, Tom and Vera Boles, kept Eliza for a few years until they moved away. Eliza was then sent to Sequoyah Indian School where she received her education. She was a good student and excelled in music. She later taught music and taught many children to play the piano.
Eliza later married Luther Jones in Porum, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death many years ago. Two children were born to this union, both of whom are now deceased. Her son, Luther Wayne Jones, passed away in May 2006 and her daughter, Greta Ann Jones Sartin, passed away July 12, 2007. Eliza worked very hard at educating both of her children and was very proud of what she accomplished. She then took a position with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma. She excelled in this position and worked many years at Carter Seminary until she retired.
Eliza met and married Billy G. Trammell in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She and Billy eventually made their home in Muskogee. Eliza and Billy have been happily married 41 years. She and Billy both enjoyed traveling and visited over 40 countries. They took many beautiful cruises together and made many good friends from their travels. They visited London, England many times and New York City was a favorite spot for them.

Eliza was a devout christian and was a member of the Baptist Faith.
Funeral services will be 1pm Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, Porum with Rev. Wendell Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Coleman Cemetery under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory.
