                               Roy Roady                                      
    

Roy Coleman Roady, 89, of Katie passed away Friday, June 1, 2001.  He was born May
1, 1912 to Tom and Mattie Landers Roady.  He was preceded in death by his parents;
brothers, Henry Roady and Jim Delbert Roady; and his sister, Wilma Jean Phillips.
He was a lifelong resident of the Katie Community in Garvin County.  He served on 
the Elmore City School Board for a number of years and was co-owner in R&D Oil
Company.  He was an active member of the Katie Missionary Baptist Church, serving
as a deacon for many years.  He married Esther Williams on July 19, 1930.  They
celebrated over 70 years together.  He is survived by Esther, of the home; two
daughters, Maxine Dale and Doris Shirley, both of Elmore City; four grandchildren;
six great grandchildren; brother, W.B. Roady, of Katie; and many nieces, nephews
and other family members.  Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5,
2001 at Katie Missionary Baptist Church.  Interment was at katie Cemetery and was
under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
