He was born May 1, 1912 to Tom and Mattie Landers Roady. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry Roady and Jim Delbert Roady; and his sister, Wilma Jean Phillips. He was a lifelong resident of the Katie Community in Garvin County. He served on the Elmore City School Board for a number of years and was co-owner in R&D Oil Company. He was an active member of the Katie Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for many years. He married Esther Williams on July 19, 1930. They celebrated over 70 years together. He is survived by Esther, of the home; two daughters, Maxine Dale and Doris Shirley, both of Elmore City; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, W.B. Roady, of Katie; and many nieces, nephews and other family members. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at Katie Missionary Baptist Church. Interment was at katie Cemetery and was under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
