The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb® Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.org/ *********************************************************************** Garvin County Obituaries Claude Elvin Brewer Claude Elvin Brewer, 102, was born Oct. 19, 1898, at Mountainburg, Ark., to Edgar and Bell Hatley Brewer. He died Wednesday, Sept 12, 2001. at Pauls Valley General Hospital. Mr. Brewer has lived in three different centuries. His family lived in the Foster area. On July 1, 1920, he married Daisie Oller. They farmed near the Bryant community between Payne and Lindsay for many years. As a young man he was baseball pitcher for the Pernell-Royal community Team. In 1965 he and his wife,Dalsie, moved to Maysville. Mr. Brewer was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Maysville. Survivors include two daughters; Mary Mantooth of Maysville, and JoAnn Adams of Antioch; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; and other family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dalsie, in 1988; son, Claude Brewer, Jr., in 1987; two grandsons, Steven Mantooth, in 1974 and Bill Adams, in 1996; and brothers and sisters; Albert, Delia, Annie, Alice and Newt. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept 15, at the First United Methodist Church of Maysville with Taud Boatman, Bob Metcalf and Gay Templeton occiciating. Interment will be at Foster Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home of Maysville.
